For the construction of a large underground space with a complex plant installed, it is necessary to analyze the stability considering the ground conditions and various load conditions. In this paper, finite element analysis was performed to analyze the support load that can be used in the design of a large underground space for high-density arrangement of complex plant. An analysis of underground continuous wall (D-wall) was performed considering the load and horizontal earth pressure in the large underground space. In addition, foundation ground analysis was carried out according to the load condition of the complex plant. In order to shorten the construction period, increase the space layout utilization, and secure the stability of the plant structure when installing the complex plant underground, the pipe rack module structure analysis was conducted. This study proposes a design and construction method for the optimal arrangement of underground complex plants using the analysis results.

This study was conducted to investigate the running stability of a high-speed train operated in a tunnel and an open field when external forces such as wind pressure and train crossings were applied to the vehicle. With no external force, the running stability at 400 km/h was examined, and the wheel weight reduction ratio, lateral pressure of the axles, and derailment coefficient satisfied the criteria of the technical standards for a high-speed train. When the distance between the centers of the tracks is 4.6 m, the external force caused by train crossing slightly affects the lateral acceleration of the vehicle but does not significantly affect the wheel weight reduction rate, lateral pressure, and derailment coefficient in a tunnel and open filed. When the distance is 4.6~5.0 m, the wheel weight reduction ratio, lateral pressure, and derailment coefficient satisfy the criteria with 20 m/s wind. When the wind speed was 30 m/s, the derailment coefficient satisfied the criteria, and the other variables exceeded them. It is predicted that a high-speed train can be operated safely at 400 km/h with wind speed of up to 20 m/s, and it should be slowed down at a wind speed of 30 m/s.

Due to the increase in ground excavation work, the possibility of ground subsidence accidents is increasing. And it is very difficult to prevent these risk fundamentally through institutional reinforcement such as the special law for underground safety management. As for the various cases of urban ground excavation practice, the ground subsidence behavior characteristics which is predicted using various information before excavation showed a considerable difference that could not be ignored compared to the results real construction data. Changes in site conditions such as seasonal differences in design and construction period, changes in construction methods depending on the site conditions and long-term construction suspension due to various reasons could be considered as the main causes. As the countermeasures, the safety management system through various construction information is introduced, but there is still no suitable system which can predict the effect of excavation and risk assessment. In this study, a web-based system was developed in order to predict the degree of impact on the ground subsidence and surrounding structures in advance before ground excavation and evaluate the risk in the design and construction of urban ground excavation projects. A system was built using time series analysis technique that can predict the current and future behavior characteristics such as ground water level and settlement based on past field construction records with field monitoring data. It was presented as a geotechnical data visualization (GDV) technology for risk reduction and disaster management based on web-based system, Using this newly developed web-based assessment system, it is possible to predict ground excavation impact prediction and risk assessment.

Accurate evaluation of the slope stability by assuming failure block as the entire slope is considered to be apposite for the small scale slope, whereas it is not the case for the large scale slope. Hence, appropriate estimation of a failure block size is required since the safety factor and the joint strength parameters are the function of the failure block size. In this paper, the size of failure block was investigated by generating 3-dimensional rock joint system based on statistical data of joints obtained from research slope, such as joint orientation, spacing and 3-dimensional joint intensity. The result indicates that 33 potential failure blocks exist in research slope, as large as 1.4 meters at least and 38.7 meters at most, and average block height is 15.2 meters. In addition, the data obtained from 3 dimensional joint system were directly applicable to the probability analysis and 2 and 3 dimensional discontinuity analysis.
Buffer and backfill play an essential role in isolating high-level radioactive waste and retard the migration of leaked radionuclides in deep geological disposal system. A bentonite mixture, which exhibits a swelling property, is considered for buffer and backfill materials, and excessive groundwater inflow from surrounding rock mass may affect stability and efficiency of their role as an engineered barrier. Therefore, stringent quality control as well as in-situ installation management and inflow water constrol for buffer and backfill are required to ensure the safety of deep disposal facilities. In this study, we analyzed the design requirements of buffer and backfill by examining various laboratory tests and a field study of the Steel Tunnel Test at the Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory in Sweden. We introduced how to control the quality of buffer and backfill construction in-field, and also presented how to handle excessive groundwater inflow into disposal caverns, validating the groundwater retention capacity of bentonite pellets and the effectiveness of geotexile use.

An increased number of cases have occurred in applying ICT technology in the resource development field due to factors such as safety, eco-friendliness, and low cost since the 2000s. In Korea, the 2nd mining master plan specified the significance of converging the full cycle of mining and ICT, while the 3rd mining master plan highlighted ICT and smart mining such as supporting the supply of an ICT mining device and introducing demonstrational smart mining. This study introduces the application of an ICT device and safety system operation in the Jangseong underground mine of Korea Cement Co., Ltd. Currently, Jangseong mine combines two different kinds of 3D equipment including the handheld 3D scanner and multi-station that provides both the measurement and 3D scanning to perform a 3D measurement of the mine. Taken from the 3D measurement of the mine, it is now possible to identify any hazardous areas and abnormalities in different directions and analyze the safety of the crown pillar between two stopes in different level. Besides, the real-time location tracking and communications system have established highly efficient rescue and evacuation plans to effectively deal with any accidents in the mine.

To reduce facility management costs and safety concerns due to aging of facilities, it is important to estimate the future facilities' condition based on facility management data and utilize predictive information for management decision making. To this end, this study proposed a methodology to estimate facility elements' condition using XGBoost. To validate the proposed methodology, this study constructed sample data for road bridges and developed a model to estimate condition grades of major elements expected in the next inspection. As a result, the developed model showed satisfactory performance in estimating the condition grades of deck, girder, and abutment/pier (average F1 score 0.869). In addition, a testbed was established that provides data management function and element condition estimation function to demonstrate the practical applicability of the proposed methodology. It was confirmed that the facility management data and predictive information in this study could help managers in making facility management decisions.

The purpose of this study is to reduce a high speed driving, it is a large scale traffic accident as the most dangerous fact on the highway. So traffic accidents related to high speed driving, a number of automated speed enforcement system has been established up to now. At present automated speed enforcement system in Korea control overspeed vehicle only in the specific spot. Because the drivers generally recognize the previous stated fact. therefore, we need speed control by new system. it is necessary to establish the automated traffic enforcement system based on the travel time speed. In conclusion, we obtain the desired results about automated traffic enforcement system based on the travel time speed. it is important that the number of traffic accidents has decreased and try to secure the safety of traffic.
In cases of high-level radioactive waste repositories, heat load is apparent by radioactive waste decay. The safety of a waste repository would be influenced by changing circumstances caused by heat transfer through rock. Thus, a ventilation system is necessary to secure the waste repository. The first priority for building an appropriate ventilation system is completing a computer simulation research with thermal rock properties and a heat transfer coefficient. In this study, the heat transfer coefficient in KURT was calculated using the measurement of inner circumstance factors that include dry bulb and wet bulb temperature, rock surface temperature, and barometric pressure. The heater that is 2 m in length and 5 kw in capacity heats the inside of rock in the research module by $90^{\circ}C$. As a result of determining the heat transfer coefficient in the heating section, the changes of heat transfer coefficient were found to be a maximum of 7.9%. The average heat transfer coefficient is approximately 4.533 w/$m^2{\cdot}K$.
This study is to observe stray currents generated around the steel tower by domestic transmission network system and analysis stability of electric detonator. It is measured the stay current of each ten place at steel tower of 765 kV, 345 tV, 154 tV transmission line among domestic transmission network system. Stay currents measured a total of 40m at intervals of 4m toward a line direction and a line vertical direction centering around steel tower. Temperature of the surface, EC, water content also are measured. Although stay currents show the highest values, that is 12 percent of at 4m and less than 1 percent of 40m with Institute of Makers of Explosives(IME) regulations. It is shown correlation between stay currents and water content$\cdot$EC$\cdot$temperature of the surface. Stay currents measured at line direction and line vertical direction were little different and the shape of diminution was also shown a similar aspect.
