Laser scanning technology with high positional accuracy and high density will be widely applied to vast range of fields including geomatics. Especially, the development of laser scanning technology enabling long range information extraction is increasing its full use in civil engineering. This study taps into the strengths of a terrestrial laser scanning technique to develop a tunnel cross section management system that can be practically employed for determining the cross section of tunnels more promptly and accurately. Three dimensional data with high density were obtained in a prompt and accurate manner using a terrestrial laser scanner. Data processing was then conducted to promptly determine arbitrary cross sections at 0.1meter, 0.5meter and 1.0meter intervals. A laser scanning technique was also used to quickly and accurately calculate the overbreak and underbreak of both each cross section and the entire tunnel section. As the developed system utilizes vast amounts of data, it was possible to promptly determine the shape of arbitrary cross section and to calculate the overbreak and underbreak more accurately with higher area precision. It is expected, therefore, that the system will not only enable more efficient and cost effective tunnel drilling management and monitoring but also will provide a basis for future construction and management of tunnel cross section.
In case of excavation of the tunnel under weak ground conditions, such as fault zone, leg pile reinforcement with the purpose of suppressing tunnel crown settlement and side wall displacement is commonly applied. There are convergence, crown settlement, leg settlement, and the axial force of leg as a main factor for confirming the safety of support considering the installation angle and length of leg pile reinforcement according to the increase in rate of change of tunnel cross-section. In particular, the influence of right corner settlement, among variables for safety confirmation during excavation, has been analyzed as the dominant factor in the most important priority management showing larger displacement tendency than the increase in rate of the cross-section. And, it was analyzed that the occurrence tendency of axial force on leg pile reinforcement showed the influence of behavior according to the friction support concept mechanism of the pile reinforcement rather than the increase in rate of tunnel cross-section, as it showed a small increase compared to the increase rate of the tunnel cross-section which did not show a great correlation from the viewpoint of the change of the axial force by the length of each leg pile reinforcement with regards to the change in rate of increase in tunnel cross-section. If a certain length of the leg pile reinforcement is selected based on the above grounds, even if the cross-section of the tunnel in poor ground condition is somewhat larger, it has been proved to be a more reasonable method considering the workability and economical efficiency by not extending the length of the leg pile reinforcement by force.

For minimizing the effect on the focus of civil traffic and environment conditions related to the excavation at the traffic jamming points, an underground station tunnel was planned with 35.5 m in length and bigger area than $200\;m^2$ in sedimentary rock mass. It faced the case that the overburden was just under 13 m. Not based on a pattern design but on the case histories of similar projects and arching effect, the design of large section tunnel under shallow overburden was investigated on three design subjects which are shape effect on the section area, application method of support pressure, and supporting and tunnel safety. According to the mechanical effect from section shape, a basic design and a preliminary design was obtained, and then supporting method of large section was planned by the supporting of NATM and a pipe roof method for subsidence prevention and mechanical stability. From the comparative study between both designs, it was found that the basic design was suitable and acceptable for the steel alignment of tunnel lining, safety and the design parameter restricted by the limit considered as partition of the excavation facilities. Through the analysis result of preliminary design showing the mechanical stability without stress concentration in tunnel arch level, it also was induced that shape effect of the large section area and yielding load obtained from deformation zone in the surrounding rock mass of tunnel have to be considered as major topics for the further development of design technique on the large section tunnel.

In order to solve the traffic congest and environmental issues, small-cross section tunnel for small car only is increasing, but there is not standard for installation of disaster prevention facility. In this study, in order to investigate the behavioral characteristics of thermal environment and smoke in a small cross section tunnels with a large port exhaust ventilation system, the A86, the U-Smartway and the Seobu moterawy tunnel, Temperature and CO concentration in case of fire according to cross sectional area, heat release rate and exhaust air flow rate were analyzed by numerical analysis and the results were as follows. As the cross-sectional area of the tunnel decreases, the temperature of the fire zone increases and the rate of temperature rise is not significantly affected by heat release rate. However, there is a difference depending on the change of the exhaust air flow rate. In the case of applying the exhaust air flow rate $Q_3+2.5Ar$ of the large port exhaust ventilation system, the temperature of the fire zone was 7.1 times for A86 ($Ar=25.3m^2$) and 5.4 time for U-smartway ($Ar=37.32m^2$) by Seobu moterway tunnel ($Ar=46.67m^2$). The CO concentration of fire zone also showed the same tendency. The A86 tunnels were 10.7 times and the U-Smartways were 9.5 times more than the Seobu moterway. Therefore, in the case of a small section tunnel, the thermal environment and noxious gas concentration due to the reduction of the cross-sectional area are expected to increase significantly more than the cross-sectional reduction rate.

This research area is a greate section of triple tunnels that passes through the fault fractured zone the in the granite area. In this area, tunnel section, pillar width and overburden height are changed consecutively due to declivity of 1 : 4.5 and slope formation of upper part as changed section. That is, stability estimation for each section varying pillar width can be conducted because tunnel diameter changes gradually from 0.5D to 1.0D according to distance of pillar width. We have estimated the stability of pillar width in triple tunnels with monitoring value, and compared the stability with results of numerical analysis.

Surveying by using terrestrial LiDAR(Light Detection And Ranging) is more rapid than by using total station which enables tunnel section profile surveying to be done in suitable time and minimize centerline error, occurrence of overcut and undercut. Therefore, utilization of terrestrial LiDAR has increased more and more in section profile survey and measurement field Moreover, studies of terrestrial LiDAR for accurate and efficient utilization is now ongoing vigorously. Average end area formula, which was generally used to calculate overcut and undercut, was compared with existing methods such as total station survey and photogrammetry. However, there are no criteria of spacing distance for calculating overcut and undercut through terrestrial LiDAR surveying which can acquire 3D information of whole tunnel. This research performed reverse engineering to decide optimal spacing distance when surveying tunnel section profile by comparing whole tunnel volume and tunnel volume in difference spacing distance. This result was utilized to produce CAD drawing for the test tunnel site where there is no design drawings. In addition to this, efficiency of LiDAR and accuracy of CAD drawing was compared with targetless total station surveying of tunnel section profile. Finally, error analysis of target coordinate's accuracy and incidence angle was done in order to verify the accuracy of terrestrial LiDAR technology.

Quantitative Mokpo-Jeju undersea tunnel is currently on the basis plan for reviewing validation. As for the cross section shape for express boat of 105 km line, sing track two tube is being reviewed as the Euro tunnel equipped with service tunnel. Also, 10 carriage trains have been planned to operate 76 times for one way a day. So, in this study, quantitative risk assessment method is settled, which is intended to review the optimal space between evacuation connection hall of tunnel by quantitative risk analysis method. In addition to this, optimal evacuation connection hall space is calculated by the types of cross section, which are Type 3 (double track single tube), Type 1 (sing track two tube), and Type 2 (separating double track on tube with partition). As a result, cross section of Type 2 is most efficient for securing evacuation safety, and the evacuation connection space is required for 350 m in Type 1, 400 m in Type 2, and 1,500 m in Type3 to satisfy current domestic social risk assessment standard.
An inverse calculation method to obtain sectional forces, axial force and flexural moment of a tunnel concrete lining was developed by utilizing convergence measurements acquired at the maintenance stage. To monitor the behavior of the lining, DOCS system was applied to a subway tunnel section. The method was proved to be effective, yielding the same results as measured forces of buried instruments. Many effects such as vibration of sensors, vibration due to test train operation, the variation of temperature and high voltage were checked and a new management scheme for tunnel maintenance was proposed.

In this paper, the results of evaluation on the member forces in the virtual subsea tunnel lining segments and optimal thickness of the segment with changes in depth were presented. To evaluate member forces on the hypothetical subsea tunnelling cases were developed and the segmental lining member forces were calculated by performing structural analysis using the 2-Ring Beam model. Through a preliminary reinforcement design review of the cross-section using calculated member force, optimal reinforcement design was selected. Based on the results, the variations of member forces with construction conditions such as the cover depth and the hydraulic pressure are presented. In addition, optimum segment lining designs were developed for various tunnelling conditions.
