An information retrieval system, using exact match, needs preprocessing or query expansion to generate transliteration variants in order to search foreign word transliteration variants in the documents. This paper proposes an effective method to generate other transliteration variants from a given transliteration. Because simple rewriting of confused characters produces too many false variants, the proposed method controls the generation priority by learning confusion patterns from real uses and calculating their probability. Especially, the left and right context of a pattern is considered, and local rewriting probability and global rewriting probability are calculated to produce more probable variants in earlier stage. The experimental result showed that the method was very effective by showing more than 80% recall with top 20 generations for a transliteration variants set collected from KT SET 2.0.
The intensity of the East Asian summer monsoon has a negative correlation with that of the western North Pacific summer monsoon. Based on the relationship, we suggest the potential predictability of Northeast Asian summer precipitation by using the relationship. The western North Pacific subtropical high (WNPSH) properly represents the intensity of the western North Pacific summer monsoon. It also dominates climate anomalies in the western North Pacific-East Asian region in summertime. The estimates of the Northeast Asian summer rainfall anomalies using WNPSH variability have a greater benefit than those using the western North Pacific monsoon index.
This study investigates the use of geomorphic analysis results obtained from high-resolution LiDAR-derived DEM. The results of analysis, slope angle and eigenvalue ratio (ER) were derived from the DEM for 3 landslide and 1 non-landslide occurrence area. Results of this study highlighted the importance of geomorphic analysis in characterizing landslide feature as well as the various contents in their future occurrence and activity. The relationship between the results of geomorphic analysis and landslides are well expressed in this paper.

The purpose of this study was to develop the instrument for scientific attitudes in school, home and social situations and select the important elements of scientific attitudes. Looking into the elements of scientific attitudes in national and international research, the important elements of scientific attitudes students should have were selected as follows: Openness, objectivity, continuousness, criticalness, prudence, volunteerism, honesty, preparedness, collaboration, and curiosity. To develop the valid instrument of scientific attitudes, we moved forward with the step of making preliminary questions, the judgment step, and the validation examination step. Based on the elements of scientific attitudes and school, family, and social situations, the instrument of the scientific attitudes was developed. We discovered that Middle school students' scientific attitudes, according to their grade levels, appear to be significantly lower than those in the 7th graders and 9th graders. The scientific attitudes in school, home and social situation appeared high in order of society, home, and school. It appeared that there were no differences by gender.
People use various information for searching POI in the navigation system such as name, category, address, phone number. Most of users use name and category to search their POT. They don't know exact name in POI DB provided by Maker. They use abbreviated or generalized name as key word for searching POI. Because of these reasons, the hit ratio has been very low. In this paper, We suggest a extra DB_construction system for raising the hit ratio. It generates allomorphes DB link to the POI name in original DB. We classified the POI names in original DB into seven types of allomorph by analyzing the gathered patterns from the POI DB which has over 650,000 entries. For auto_generating the allomorphes, we made 577 rules based on the classified types. And we generated the allomorphes manually for the entries which are difficult to make the rule and has low frequency The generated allomorphes account for 35.8% of all original DB. The hit ratio is 89% under suggested system.

This study utilized high quality three-dimensional geospatial information produced by high-resolution Digital Aerial Photograph and Airborne LiDAR data in order to analyse landslides and debris flows induced by the heavy rainfall in Chuncheon area. Also, this study analysed correlation between the established landslide hazard map and the landslide factor effect and reviewed the analysis result of debris flows on the area where landslides with debris flows occurred frequently. Finally;the study proposed ways to renew the established landslide hazard map effectively and utilize the high quality three-dimensional Geospatial information on the landslide risk area.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the susceptibility of landslides at Kangneung area, Korea, using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing. Landslide locations were identified from interpretation of satellite image and field surveys. The topographic, soil, forest, geologic, lineament and land cover data were collected, processed and constructed into a spatial database using GIS and remote sensing data. Using frequency ratio model which is one of the probability model, the relationships between landslides and related factors such as slope, aspect, curvature and type of topography, texture, material, drainage and effective thickness of soil, type, age, diameter and density of wood, lithology, distance from lineament and land cover were calculated as frequency ratios. Then, the frequency ratio were summed to calculate a landslide susceptibility indexes and the landslide susceptibility maps were generated using the indexes. The results of the analysis were verified and cross-validated using actual landslide location data. The verification results showed satisfactory agreement between the susceptibility map and the existing data on landslide locations.
Recent international and national research trends in landslide hazards were analyzed by performing a literature search of relevant scientific journals. For obtaining data from Korea, we used 'Information for Environmental Geology' (IEG), which covers 17 journals in the field of environmental geology. A total of 54 articles related to landslide hazards were found in 5 journals published in the period 2000-2012. The most common topic was landslide prediction or susceptibility (29 articles), followed by landslide mechanisms. For international information, we analyzed 1,851 articles from the 'Web Of Science' published from 2003 to the present. Researchers in Italy have published the greatest number of papers in this field, while papers from Korea rank first in terms of the citation index.

The collapse of a slope or cut embankment brings much damage to life and property. Accordingly, it is very important to analyze the spatial distribution by calculating the landslide susceptibility in the estimation of the risk of landslide occurrence. The heuristic, statistic, deterministic, and probabilistic methods have been introduced to make landslide susceptibility maps. In many cases, however, the reliability is low due to insufficient field data, and the qualitative experience and knowledge of experts could not be combined with the quantitative mechanical?analysis model in the existing methods. In this paper, new modeling method for a probabilistic landslide susceptibility analysis combined Bayesian Network with ontology model about experts' knowledge and spatial data was proposed. The ontology model, which was made using the reasoning engine, was automatically converted into the Bayesian Network structure. Through conditional probabilistic reasoning using the created Bayesian Network, landslide susceptibility with uncertainty was analyzed, and the results were described in maps, using GIS. The developed Bayesian Network was then applied to the test-site to verify its effect, and the result corresponded to the landslide traces boundary at 86.5% accuracy. We expect that general users will be able to make a landslide susceptibility analysis over a wide area without experts' help.
Gangwon-do has been suffering extensive landslide dam age, because its geography consists mainly of mountains. Analyzing the related factors is crucial for landslide prediction. We digitized the landslide and non-landslide spots on an aerial photo obtained right after a disaster in Inje, Gangwon-do. Three landslide factors-topographic, forest type, and soil factors-w ere statistically analyzed through GIS overlap analysis between topographic map, forest type map, and soil map. The analysis showed that landslides occurred mainly between the inclination of $20^{\circ}$ and $35^{\circ}$, and needleleaf tree area is more vulnerable to a landslide. About soil properties, an area with shallow effective soil depth and parent material of acidic rock has a greater chance of landslide.
