Grid-Connected Photovoltaic System Applying the Step Variable MPPT Control and DVR (Step 가변형 MPPT 제어기법과 DVR을 적용한 계통연계형 태양광 발전 시스템)

  • Grid-connected photovoltaic generator system requires high performance PCS(Power Conditioning System) according to the standard of 'Distributed Generation Grid-Connected Technology Standards'. This paper presents the MPPT control method which improves output efficiency through fast tracking to the maximum power point of PV and a reduced self-excited vibration. Secondly, in this paper DVR function was applied to PCS to compensate the voltage sag frequently happening for a power system. The proposed PCS control is analyzed and compared to conventional PCS operating characteristic, the various insolation and loads, and voltage sag condition through PSIM tool. It proves the utility.

  • This paper proposes variable incremental conductance(IC) algorithm for maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of photovoltaic. The conventional perturbation & observation(PO) and IC MPPT control algorithm generally uses fixed step size. A small step size reduces a tracking error in the steady state but slows a tracking speed in the transient state. Also, a large step size is fast a tracking speed but increases a tracking error. Therefore, this paper proposes variable IC MPPT algorithm that adjust automatically step size according to operating conditions. To improve a tracking speed and accuracy, when operating point is far from the maximum power point(MPP), the step size uses maximum value and when a operating point is near from the MPP, the step size uses variable step size that adjust according to slope of P-V curve. The validity of MPPT algorithm proposed in this paper prove through compare with conventional PO and IC MPPT algorithm.

  • Recently, interests in renewable energy have gradually increased. Of various renewable energy, Photovoltaic system has the properties affected by weather. This paper discusses the economic evaluation based on insolation data analysis. Real insolation data were obtained by radiation measurement device installed in projected photovoltaic system site during 20 months. Obtained real insolation data were standardized using clear day analysis. Standardized data are greater than obtained real insolation data and were used as parameters of RETScreen for the economic evaluation. In results, capacity(30[kW]) of soon cheon is shown the most B/C(1.20). Applied methods have effectively done to develop photovoltaic system.

  • This paper proposes the maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of photovoltaic system using fuzzy based variable step size perturbation & observation(FVSS-PO) method. Conventional PO and incremental conductance(IC)MPPT control algorithm generally uses fixed step size. A small fixed step size will cause the tracking speed to decrease and tracking accuracy of the MPP will decrease due to large fixed step size. Therefore, the fixed step size can't be satisfying both the tracking speed and the tracking accuracy. This paper proposes FVSS-PO MPPT algorithm that adjusts automatically step size of PO by fuzzy control according to operating conditions. The validity of MPPT algorithm proposed in this paper prove through compare with conventional PO MPPT algorithm.

  • This paper describes Trans-less type utility interactive system that is combined with buck/boost chopper applying partial resonant method, which remove Trans, and high efficient PWM inverter. Therefore, it is possible to make it lightweight, to cut down the cost, and to improve its reliability. What the merits of this system are that we con transmit arbitrary power to load and utility regardless of generating voltage magnitude and we can always obtain high factor controlling by equal phase signal with utility.

  • The industrial products to use single phase inverter are raised the necessity of power quality improvement, such as AC Motor Driver, Lighting, Renewable energy power converter. Also, it is increasing that applied the single phase multilevel inverter for high quality power at renewable energy power converter. Especially, the photovoltaic multilevel inverters have at least more than two DC_Link and more than one DC/DC Converter. This paper proposes a triple output DC/DC Converter with one switch for photovoltaic multilevel inverter. The proposed converter has advantages of low cost and volume because it has one switch. The operation principle of the converter is analyzed and verified. A prototype is implemented to verify of the proposed converter.

  • This paper is proposed that the photovoltaic/fuel cell hybrid generation system for the stand-alone system. In case of the photovoltaic generation system, it depends on the weather condition, irradiation and so on... On the contrary, fuel cell has not this limitation. It can be interactive generation system between photovoltaic and fuel cell. This paper simulated stand-alone co-generation system based on the control of DC link. Moreover, 1[kw] BLDC motor system with speed and hysteresis current controller is used for the proposed system.

  • In this paper a high efficiency soft switching boost converter is proposed for photovoltaic system. Using some resonant components, the circuit can be achieved the soft switching capability. Each of the switches in the proposed circuit performs ZV (Zero Voltage) or ZC (Zero Current) switching. Thus, the high efficiency characteristic can also be obtained, and then the size of the total system can be reduced. The operational modes of the verifying the effectiveness of the proposed circuit. As a matter of course, we will present the simulation results in this paper.

  • In this paper proposes a novel tracking algorithm regarding the power loss when operating a tracking system for a rapidly changing insolation to improve the power of PV tracking system. In case of tracking an azimuth and altitude of the sun in realtime, therefore, the actual PV power is less increasing than the power of tracking system fixed a specific position. To reduce the power loss, this paper proposes a nonel control algorithm of the tracking system. The paper is analyzed efficiency about conventional PV tracking method, comparing proposed algorithm with high performance method. We show propriety of proposed algorithm by means of the demonstrable study.

  • There are increased interests in using new regeneration energy due to the effect of the latest rising oil price. On this account, various practical applications using small stand-alone PV generation system are being made. In this paper, with intent to change mercury lamp using for existing garden lamp with high flux LED, we have considered load characteristic using high flux LED modules applied to PV system. It is simulated with PSIM and made experiment set with a 75[W] solar cell module, DC-DC converter, controller and battery.
