  • Recently iPad has been released, so users interest in new portable device is increasing. As markets grow, experts are forecasting a increase of investigation about tablet PC. However iPad forensics is very difficult using existing smart phone forensic softwares. especially, those softwares can't analyze korean mobile application. This paper describes collecting/analyzing technique for iPad.

  • In this paper, we present the results of educational innovation case study using U-Learning Box and Ubiquitous-based Test(UBT) system for 6 sample primary schools in Nepal. As Nepal is considered to be a developing country with electricity problem to the school, the U-Learning Box, consisting of a small and easy-to-use tablet PC for teacher and a small smart beam with its own battery was evaluated as the optimum solution to support continuous basic English and hygiene education for these schools. And UBT technology using tablet PC was used to evaluate and analyze basic English learning ability of the students, which helped us realized that it is necessary to improve the educational environment and develop suitable educational contents. We hope that the global educational innovation using U-Learning Box and UBT technology will become a successful model for global equality of educational opportunity project for developing countries including Nepal.

  • As we move into the aging society, social efforts to improve the IADL of the elderly are getting bigger. In this study, elderly people were taught using tablet PC - based contents in order to make ATM more convenient. The ATM contents used are the educational contents for the tablet PC developed in the same way as the ATM interface used in the actual bank. After the elderly used the content, they evaluated the usability of the content.

  • Purpose: This study aims to support the dispatcher to analysis the architecture type of fire. Method: Analysis the dispatch protocol guideline (released by gyunggi fire brigade) and make the dispatch scenario by site, combustibles, evacuation, fire extinguish systems. Result: After making scenario, develop the system (for dispatcher), is based on the tablet PC. Conclusion: Dispatch systems apply not only fire but rescue and disaster. This study focus on the fire, but It is need to expend the rescue and disaster. in korea, Fire Safety Evaluation and Multishop DB are possible to link to this system.

A Usability Testing on the Tablet PC-based Korean High-tech AAC Software (태블릿 PC 기반 한국형 하이테크 AAC 소프트웨어의 사용성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usability of the tablet PC-based Korean high-tech AAC(Augmentative Alternative Communication System) software. In order to develop an AAC software which is appropriate to Korean cultural/linguistic contexts and communication needs of the users, we examined the necessity and ease of use for the communication functions that are required in native Korean communication, such as polite expressions, tense expressions, negative expressions, subject-verb auto-matching, and automatic sentence generation functions, using a scenario-based user testing. We also investigated the users' needs, preferences, and satisfaction for the tablet PC-based Korean high tech AAC using a semi-structured and open questionnaires. The participants of this study were 9 special education teachers, 6 speech therapists, and 6 parents whose children had communication disabilities. The results of the usability testing of the tablet PC-based Korean high-tech AAC software presented positive responses in general, by indicating overall scores of above 4 out of 5 except in tense and negative expressions. The necessity and ease of use in the tense and negative expressions were evaluated relatively low, and it might be related to the inconsistent interface with the polite expressions. In terms of the user interface(UI), there were users' needs for clear visual feedback in the symbol selection and display, consistent interface for all functions, more natural subject-verb auto-matching, and spacing in the text within symbols. The results of the usability testing and users' feedback might serve as a guideline to compensate and improve the function and UI of the existing AAC software.

  • Industrial robots have been usually controlled using text-based programming languages provided by each manufacturer with its button-based TP(Teaching Pendent) terminal. Unfortunately, when we consider that people who manipulate TPs in manufacturing sites are mostly unskilled with no background knowledge about computer programming, these text-based programming languages using button-based interaction on manufacturing sites are too difficult for them to learn and use. In order to overcome the weaknesses of the text-based programming language, we propose a visual programming language that can be easily used on gesture-enabled devices. Especially, in our visual programming environment, each command is represented as a block and robots are controlled by stacking those blocks using drag-and-drop gestures, which is easily learnable even by beginners. In this paper, we utilize a widely-spread device, Tablet PC as the gesture-enabled TP. Considering that Tablet PC has limited display space in contrast to PC environments, we designed different kinds of sets of command blocks and conducted user tests. Based on the experiment results, we propose an effective set of command blocks for Tablet PC environment.

  • N스크린 서비스는 하나의 디지털 컨텐츠를 TV, 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC나 노트북 등을 통해 일관성 있는 문맥으로 단절 없이 소비할 수 있는 환경을 마련해 준다. 현재 이 서비스는 TV와 모바일 기기의 스마트화, 클라우드 컴퓨팅의 확산, 홈 네트워킹의 발전, 모바일 웹을 위한 다양한 기술의 발전으로 그 발전 가능성이 매우 큰 서비스이다. 이런 N스크린 서비스는 단순한 연속적 상연 서비스를 넘어 다양한 기기를 동시에 사용하는 협업적 N스크린 서비스로도 진화할 것이다. 이런 환경에서 개발된 SK Planet hoppin 서비스는 TV, PC, 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC간의 연동을 통해, 기기 종류에 제약 없이 구매된 컨텐츠를 상영할 수 있는 통합 미디어를 구현하기 위해 개발되었다. 이를 위해 통신망으로 연결된 미디어 서버 및 hoppin 단말기를 위한 안드로이드 기반의 플랫폼을 개발하였으며, 크래들을 사용한 TV 연결을 통해 모바일 기기를 secondary 스크린으로도 사용될 수 있도록 했다. 이런 서비스는 현재 국내 유일의 형태이며 hoppin은 향후 협업적인 N스크린 서비스로 더욱 발전해 갈 수 있을 것이다.

Psychological Effects of Gamification on Young Learners: Focusing on a Serious Game for English Phoneme Discrimination (기능성게임을 활용한 게이미피케이션 영어 발음 학습이 초등학생의 정의적 영역에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the psychological effects of using a serious game with young learners in the English classroom compared with those of a dictionary application. A tablet PC-based serious game was created for the training of English phoneme discrimination for Korean 6th graders, and its psychological effects were measured using a paper-based survey and face-to-face interviews. The overall results revealed that the serious game had more positive psychological effects on young learners than the dictionary app. These findings provide supporting empirical evidence for using serious games in English classrooms.
