  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of display on time on tasks and virtual presence in the immersive virtual reality. Head mounted display (HMD) and monitor conditions were compared when the participants were asked to complete navigation tasks in a virtual classroom. Time on tasks and virtual presence were measured. Three factors of the virtual presence were applied as dependent variables such as 1) spatial presence, 2) involvement, and 3) realness. The results showed that HMD condition took longer time to finish tasks than monitor conditions. HMD condition showed significantly higher perception from all of the virtual presence factors. Interestingly, there was a significant interaction effect between the display conditions and presence factors. The relationship between display types and virtual presence factors were discussed for future study.

  • Based on ontologies, semantic Web services enable the discovery, selection, and composition. OWL-S is a do facto standard ontology for describing semantics of Web services. Due to the difficulty of the OWL-S grammar, the teaming curve for constructing OWL-S description manually can be steep. This paper presents an efficient method for generating OWL-S descriptions from UML diagrams, which are widely used for software design and development. The proposed method is based on UML profiles to generate an OWL-S ontology from sequence or activity diagrams, which represent the behavior of a business process. Specifically, an XMI file extracted from UML diagrams is transformed into an OWL-S description via an XSLT script. Experimental results with a large volume of UML diagrams show that the proposed method deals with the control flow of complex processes and is superior to previous methods.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the degree programs commissioned by the ROK Armed Forces, and to search for improvements. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a research model was designed according to the CIPP evaluation model of Daniel Stufflebeam. The researcher conducted an analysis of documents, interviews, surveys, and data associated with the commissioned degree programs. On the basis of empirical analysis, this study debated various ways of improving the programs. This study found that the object of commissioned education in the Army did not actively reflect national defense strategy nor the army strategy in cultivating talented people. Nevertheless, this study found that the educational program helped improve individual competency because the budget for the programs was sufficient and was effectively implemented. However, there are not enough personnel to administer these commissioned programs. The contents of education strongly reflected the objective of the original commission's programs. However, the research papers produced by the students did not live up to the needs of the military to some extent. Lastly, most graduate students were satisfied with this program and found the program to be very helpful to carry out their missions and cultivate their expertise.

  • Informatics curriculum has been revised for informatics principles and concepts to effectively teach. According to the revised curriculum, researches are verifying the educational effects of algorithmic thinking and problem-solving abilities using programming language by applying it to various area. However, researches in programming education considering the level of student are yet incomplete. This research has analyzed the impact of the perceived level of problem solving on the performance of project completeness. As results of difference of project completeness, a high perceived level of problem solving group's performance of project completeness was higher than a low perceived level of problem solving group's one. Analysis of the impact of the perceived level of problem solving on the performance of project completeness, 'problem finding' factor had a significant impact. This research suggested the importance of 'problem finding' and self-reflecting introspective 'reviewing' stages in problem solving process using programming language.abstract of your study in English. • This study helps infant teachers practice a constructivism-based teacher education program that supports infant mathematical inquiry activities and examines improvements in mathematical teaching knowledge, mathematical teaching initiatives, mathematical interaction, constructivism belief and mathematical teaching efficacy. Twenty two experiment group infant teachers and twenty two comparison group infant teachers were chosen at two workforce educare centers. The experiment group infant teachers participated in 18 sessions of a constructivism teacher training program for 8 weeks, but the comparison group infant teachers did not take part in the program. Pretest and post-tests were implemented for the mathematical teaching knowledge, mathematical teaching initiatives, mathematical interactions, constructivism belief and mathematical teaching efficacy in the experiment group. Independent sample t-test and ANCOVA were tested using Windows SPSS statistics 21.0. The homogeneity test for the experiment and comparison group revealed significant differences. ANCOVA was carried out after the pretest score was controlled as a co-variance. Significant differences were indicated in mathematical teaching knowledge, mathematical teaching initiative, mathematical interaction, constructivism belief and mathematical teaching efficacy. The results indicated that a constructivism-based teacher education program to support infant mathematical inquiry activities influenced improvements in mathematical teaching knowledge, mathematical teaching initiative, mathematical interaction, constructivism belief and mathematical teaching efficacy. This study proved the effects of the program based on constructivism theory content for the knowledge, skills and attitude about infant teaching of mathematical initiatives and practiced a program of exploration, investigation, application and assessment for infant teachers. The results can help infant teachers teach mathematical exploration activities and help activate infant mathematical exploration activities.

  • Recently tile study that exploits visual information for tile services of robot in indoor environments is active. Conventional image processing approaches are based on the pre-defined geometric models, so their performances are likely to decrease when they are applied to the uncertain and dynamic environments. For this, diverse researches to manage the uncertainty based on the knowledge for improving image recognition performance have been doing. In this paper we propose a Bayesian network modeling method for predicting the existence of target objects when they are occluded by other ones for improving the object detection performance of the service robots. The proposed method makes object relationship, so that it allows to predict the target object through observed ones. For this, we define the design method for small size Bayesian networks (primitive Bayesian netqork), and allow to integrate them following to the situations. The experiments are performed for verifying the performance of constructed model, and they shows $82.8\%$ of accuracy in 5 places.
