The questionnaire focused on traumatic events encountered, PTSD symptoms experienced, and the use of music in relation to the symptoms. The analysis revealed that all participants had been exposed to traumatic events either directly or indirectly, and 32% of the responders have experienced at least one of the PTSD symptoms in the last one month. Most of the participants perceived music to be necessary in everyday life as well as for managing PTSD related symptoms. • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of rootball media and covering materials for air-layering on the rooting and growth responses of miniature tree material. The experiment was performed with Carpinus coreana Nakai in the vinyl-house condition. The covering material, jute tape increased the diameter growth at 1cm above the girdling part of the tree material. The combined use of the soil mixture of peatmoss and perlite(2:1, by volume) as rootball medium and jute tape increased the dry weight of current year leaves and shoots. The number of shoot shorter than 10cm and that of leaves from the shoot were produced more by using a sphagnum moss for rootball medium than the soil mixture. The use of jute tape shortened the period required for rooting and increased the number of fine roots and the total root dry weight at girdling part of the tree material. On the other hand, the number of long roots was produced more by using the sphagnum moss than the soil mixture.

  • This research is an attempt to investigate cultural identity at the international level. Asia is one of the weakest communities in the world due to discrepancies in terms of political, economic, social and cultural aspects. Additionally, Asia has never been independent in communication flows since imperialist history until the Korean wave emerged at the turn of this century. The Korean wave reflects complex power embedded in postcolonial world in addition to cultural commonality among Asian audiences. I have conducted audience researches on Korean drama fandom in Japan and China. I adopt Lacanian psychoanalysis in order to interpret identity issues of Asian media audiences. Particularly, Deleuze and Guattari's theories are useful to scrutinize group identity of Asian community. Additionally, I refer to theories of nationalism.

  • It is increasingly clear that student mastery of concepts and skills in geographic education is based on a complex set of variables. Sex and gender are the key variables. Much has been written about biological sex differences in learning, but less attention has been paid to the impacts of socio-cultural gender on learning geography. As such, the aims of this paper are two-fold. First, to examine theories which seek to explain why males and females might differ in their geographic and spatial knowledge or skill. Second, to examine the extent of sex differences and gender traits in the geographic learning. The results of study illustrate clearly that there are more similarities than differences between the sexes. Therefore, there are significant gender differences between the preferences of regions, contents, activities in the secondary geographic learning. The results also provide insights into improving contents and method of geographic education.

  • This study is concerned with the factors that influence the radicalness of new product development by firms. The innovativeness of firms' new product development differs in their frequency and radicalness. Based on previous research on product innovations, this study provides a hypothetical model that links firms' internal variables and external relations variables to the radicalness of product innovation, which in turn is linked to marketing performance. For an empirical analysis, the data were collected from South Korean firms. The result of this study provides evidence that the stronger is firms' management attitude toward risk taking, marketing competency, and technical competency, the higher is the possibility of radical product innovation. It also shows that, contrarily to the hypothesis, firms with collective reward system rather than individual reward system are more likely to develop radically new products. This study also shows that the better are firms' R & D collaboration with suppliers and interfaces with customers, the higher is the possibility of radical product innovation.
