비정질 탄소막 (a-C:H) 내에 존재하는 수소에 관한 연구

  • 비정질 탄소막 제조에 있어서 수소가 포함된 반응성 가스를 사용할 경우 제작된 탄소막 내부에는 수소가 포함되게 되며, 이러한 수소원자들은 막의 특성에 중요한 영향을 주는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 비정질 탄소막(a-C:H) 내부에 존재하는 수소가 탄소막의 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 막 내부에 포함된 수소의 함량과 공정조건 사이의 함수계를 조사함으로써 수소의 함량을 인위적으로 통제할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 수소가 포함된 비정질 탄소막은 2.45 GHz의 전자기파를 사용하는 electron cyclotron resonance plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (ECR-PECVD) 방법과 DC magnetron sputtering 법을 사용하여 제작하였다. 기판으로는 Si(001) wafer를 사용하였으며, 아세톤과 에탄올을 사용하여 표면의 유기성분을 제거하고, 진공챔버속에서 Ar 플라즈마를 발생시켜 sputter etching 방법으로 표면을 세척하였다. ECR-PECVD 방법에서는 반응가스로 메탄(CH4)과 수소(H2)의 혼합가스를 사용하였으며, 혼합가스의 비는 5~50% 범위내에서 변화를 주었다. 수소가스의 유량은 100SCCM으로 고정하였으며, 마이크로웨이브의 power는 360~900W였고, 기판에 가해준 negative DC bias 전압은 0~-500V이었다. DC magnetron sputtering 방법에서는 반응가스로 아세틸린(C2H2) 가스를 사용하였으며, 플라즈마 발생을 용이하게 하기 위해서 Ar 가스와 혼합하여 사용하였다. Ar 가스의 유량은 10SCCM으로 고정하였으며, 아세틸렌 가스의 유량은 5~20SCCM 범위내에서 주입하였다. 이때, 기판에 가해준 negative DC bias 전압은 0~-100V이었다. 제작된 탄소막의 수소 함량을 조사하기 위하여 Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) 분광법과 Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis (EFDA) 법을 사용하였으며, 증착율은 SEM 단면촬영과 a-step을 이용하여 측정하였고, 막의 경도는 Micro-Hardness Testing 법을 사용하여 측정하였다.

Distribution of Organic Carbon, Organic Nitrogen, and Heavy Metals in Lake Shihwa Sediments (시화호 퇴적물의 유기탄소, 유기질소 및 중금속 함량과 분포)

  • Distributions of organic carbon (Co$_{org}$), organic nitrogen (N$_{org}$), and heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Cr, Cu, Mn) were investigated in Lake Shihwa sediments. Surface and core samples were collected in April and September, 1997 and March, 1998 for the study. The results show that these components contents are variable with sampling timeand station. In surface sediments, both Co$_{org}$ and N$_{org}$ have similar distribution pattern in which their high contents found in stations located near the land, indicating that the streams and industrial wastes seem to act as point sources. The C$_{org}$ contents are linearly related with those of heavy metals. It appears, therefore, that the distribution of heavy metals may be partly controlled by a complex interplay of biogenic, terrestial, and anthropogenic factors. The C/N ratios from three stations are in the range of 3-32, with an average of 13.2. Vertical profiles of heavy metals in sediment cores are similar to those of C$_{org}$ and N$_{org}$. Copper content of sediments is enriched compared to that of reported value before dike construction, but Zn and Mn are not deposited considerably. Especially, Pb content show less variable. Currently, anthropogenic effects of industrial complex may not reached to drainage gate area where heavy metal contents are comparable with those adjacent to coastal sediments.

Comparison of Tyurin Method and Dry Combustion Method for Carbon Analysis in Soils of Low Iorganic Carbon content (무기탄소 함량이 낮은 토양의 탄소함량 분석을 위한 Tyurin법과 건식연소법의 비교)

  • To compare soil carbon contents by Tyurin method and dry combustion method, we carried out analysis for 212 samples of agricultural land in Korea. The average values of soil carbon contents analyzed by Tyurin method and dry combustion method were $17.47{\pm}10.80$ and $19.91{\pm}10.63g\;kg^{-1}$, respectively. Both methods were evaluated as acceptable methods for soil carbon contents as the results showed. The results showed that soil texture had little effect on analysis method of carbon contents. Highly significant linear regression equation, Y = 0.846X ($R^2=0.991$), was obtained between carbon contents analyzed by Tyurin method (Y) and dry combustion method (X). As a result of comparison with data of carbon contents of the two methods, about 69% of results at dry combustion method have exceeded to results at Tyurin method. Especially, differences between results at two methods became higher as carbon contents were increasing. Tyurin method has been advantages such as shorter analysis time for one sample, more recognition for carbon analysis, and no need for expensive analyzer, while dry combustion method has simpler procedure, no heavy metal wastes, and more samples for analysis at one time.

  • The manufacturing method of permalloy soft magnet with the Ni contents of 46.6 and 47.2 wt% was investigated by powder injection molding technology. The magnetic properties of permalloy were greatly affected on the residual carbon and oxygen content of the sintered magnet. Solvent extraction and thermal debinding process to minimize the residual carbon content in sintered magnet were developed by controlling the debinding atmosphere. The residual carbon content depends on the debinding condition of the binder system for powder injection molding and the residual oxygen content on the sintering atmosphere. The sintered magnet produced by powder injection molding process had a 50 ppm. residual carbon, 150 ppm. residual oxygen. The coercivity and maximum relative permeability of permalloy soft magnet were 0.46 Oe and 14,600 respectively.

Changes of Chemical Compounds in Compost of Municipal Refuse;1. Changes of Carbon Compounds (폐기물의 퇴비화 과정중 물질 변화;1. 탄소화합물 변화)

  • To investigate the seasonal changes of various organic and inorganic compounds in compost, carbon compounds in compost were analyzed at various composting periods. Contents of organic matter, cellulose, total carbon, organic carbon and biodegradable carbon in compost were decreased with the progress of composting. In contrast, contents of lignin and nonbiodegradable carbon were increased a little with the progress of composting, but effective contents of lignin were decreased with the lapse of composting time, while effective contents of nonbiodegradable carbon were not changed. Total carbon contents in organic matter in compost were decreased within 9 weeks after composting, and then increased thereafter. Difference between average values of total and biodegradable carbon contents was 6.2%. Actual decay rates of all the carbon compounds were higher than decay rates of the compounds at all the experimental periods. Both of actual decay rate and decay rate of all the carbon compounds were increased rapidly within 2 weeks after composting, and thereafter the rates were increased slightly with the lapse of composting time. Especially the decay rates of cellulose were increased from 9 to 21 weeks after composting. Actual degradation capacity showed the same tendency to degradation capacity of all the carbon compounds in compost. Decay rate and degradation capacity of lignin in compost had minus values, while actual decay rate and actual degradation capacity had plus values. Highly positive correlations were observed among organic matter, cellulose, total carbon and biodegradable carbon one another. Nonbiodegradable carbon showed highly negative correlation with organic matter, cellulose, total carbon, organic carbon and biodegradable carbon, respectively. The same tendencies were observed between lignin and organic matter, cellulose, total carbon, organic carbon and biodegradable carbon. Highly positive correlation was observed between lignin and nonbiodegradable carbon in compost.

  • 하이브리드 코팅 시스템을 이용하여 $CrMoC_xN_{1-x}$ 박막을 AISI D2와 실리콘 웨이퍼 모재 위에 증착하였다. 박막 내 탄소 함량은 $CH_4/(CH_4+N_2)$ 가스 유량 증가에 비례하여 증가했다. 탄소 함량이 0.33일 때 44GPa의 최대강도 및 -4.4GPa의 잔류응력을 나타내었다. CrMoN 박막의 평균 마찰계수는 0.42이지만, 탄소함량을 증가함에 따라 0.31까지 감소 하였다. 이것은 박막 표면과 스틸볼 사이에서 탄소가 풍부한 층이 형성되어 일종의 고체윤활제 역할을 했기때문이다. 박막의 미세조직은 X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy, 그리고 X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy를 이용하여 분석하였다.

Effect of Eucommia ulmoides Leaf Water Extract on Hepatotoxicity of Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Rats (두충잎 물추출물이 사염화탄소를 투여한 흰쥐의 간손상에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study was carried out to investigate the pretreatment of effects of water extract obtained from Eucommia ulmoides leaf (ELE) on hepatotoxicity of carbon tetrachloride ($CCl_4$) -treated rats. Thirty two healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups, i.e. normal group (N), $CCl_4$-treated group (T), ELE-treated group (E), and ELE-treated group after injection of $CCl_4$(TE). The administration of $CCl_4$increased the activities of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase and lactate dehydrogenase in serum, but their activities were significantly decreased by the addition of ELE. Alkaline phosphatase activity in serum was significantly decreased in $CCl_4$-treated group, while the activity was not decreased by the extracts. Higher levels of HDL cholesterol was found in E and TE group which showed lower levels of total and LDL-cholesterol. Histopathologic findings by light microscopic examination showed fatty change, ballooning degeneration, acidophilic degeneration, spotty necrosis and zonal necrosis in $CCl_4$treated liver tissue. But the degree of liver damage was not identified in liver tissue of the TE group. These results indicated that Eucommia ulmoides leaf water extracts led migtigation of liver demage induced with $CCl_4$.

The Characteristic Study on Bottom Ash Flotation of Vegetable Oil as a Collector (식물성 기름 포수제의 바텀애쉬 부유선별 특성 연구)

  • This study aims to investigate the characteristics on bottom ash flotation using vegetable oils as a collector. The experiment of changing the kerosene dosage as a collector for the flotation of coal ashes, the recovery of unburned carbon and unburned carbon content were 80% and 63%, respectively, when the dosage of kerosene was 9 kg/ton. The experiment of using soybean oil as a collector to improve flotation efficiency, the recovery of unburned carbon and unburned carbon content increased to 95% and 68%, respectively, when the dosage of soybean oil was 9 kg/ton. The recovery of unburned carbon and unburned carbon content were 99% and 78%, respectively, when safflower oil containing more poly unsaturated fats with double bonds than soybean oil was 9 kg/ton. The calorific value of the unburned carbon was 5,803 cal/g, confirming that it was possible to be used as a fuel for thermal power plants. Lastly, using vegetable oil as a collector it showed higher recovery of unburned carbon and higher unburned carbon than kerosene, which was mineral oil. Moreover, oil containing a large amount of poly unsaturated fat with two or more double bonds was found to have higher unburned carbon than other vegetable oils; thus showing excellent adsorbability for unburned carbon.

탄소와 질소 함량 변화에 따른 type 347 스테인리스강의 피로균열거동 연구

  • 오스테나이트 스테인리스강은 우수한 내식성 및 기계적 특성으로 인해 구조용 재료로 널리 사용되고 있다. 표준원전 경수로의 경우 가압기 밀림관소재로 Nb 안정화 오스테나이트 스테인리스강인 type 347 스테인리스강이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 원전배관에서는 운전중 배관내 온도편차에 의한 열응역과 하중변화에 의한 기계적하중에 의해 피로손상을 받는다. 일반적으로 범용 오스테나이트 스테인리스강(AISI 304, 316)의 피로균열 성장거동에 대한 연구결과는 국내외적으로 다수 축적되어 있으나 type 347 탄소, 질소 함량에 따른 기계적 특성 및 피로균열성장 연구는 매우 미비하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 탄소와 질소의 함량에 따른 기계적거동을 평가하고, 이에 따른 피로균열전파속도를 관찰하여 스테인리스강의 정확한 피로균열전파속도 곡선을 제시하고자 한다. 실험에 사용된 시편은 두께 5mm, 폭 25.4mm CT시편을 사용하였으며, 1mm의 예비균열을 주었다. 그리고 실험온도는 상온과 원전가동온도인 $316^{\circ}C$에서 실시하였으며, 주파수는 10Hz를 주었다. 실험결과 각 함량에 따른 type 347의 미세조직 관찰결과 기지내에 압연방향을 따라 조대한 석출물의 흐름이 관찰되었으며, 크기나 분포가 큰 차이를 보였다. C+N 함량이 낮은 시편은 주로 $0.1\;{\mu}m$ 이하의 미세한 입자들이 오스테나이트 기지조직의 입내와 입계에 고르게 분포되어 있었다. 그러나 C+N 함량이 높은 시편의 경우에는 $0.1\;{\mu}m$ 이하의 미세한 입자들과 함께 국부적으로 $1\sim10\;{\mu}m$의 조대한 입자들이 분포하고 있는 것이 관찰되었다. 그리고 질소의 함량이 높아짐에 따라 인장강도는 증가하였으며, 피로시험결과 고온에서 실험한 피로균열성장률 곡선이 상온보다 높게 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 질소가 적게 첨가되고 탄소의 함량이 많을수록 피로균열성장률은 ASME 곡선보다 낮게 나타났다.

AC구동 고분자유기물소자에서 임피던스의 변화

  • 고분자유기물로 사용되는 발광층에 탄소나노튜브를 합성하여 AC로 구동되는 고분자유기물소자를 제작하였다. 고분자유기물소자는 총 4개의 층(ITO/CRS/탄소나노튜브를 함유한 MEH-PPV/Al)으로 구성하였다. ITO가 코팅된 유리기판 위에 발광층을 보호하는 역할을 하는 절연층[cyanoethyl pullulan(CRS)], 유기발광물질인 poly[2-methoxy-5-(2-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylene-vinylene](MEH-PPV)에 탄소나노튜브의 함량을 조절하여 발광층으로 사용하였으며, 절연층과 발광층은 스핀코우터를 이용하여 증착하다. 마지막으로 thermal evaporator을 이용하여 Al을 증착하였다. 고분자유기물소자는 발광층에 함유된 탄소나노튜브에 함량에 따른 전압, 전류 그리고 밝기 특성을 분석하였다. 탄소나노튜브가 0.015wt% 함유된 고분자유기물소자에서 최대 밝기 특성과 낮은 소비전력을 얻을 수 있었다. 고분자유기물에 탄소나노튜브를 합성된 효과를 알아보기 위하여 임피던스분석을 통하여 고분자유기물소자의 저항, 캐패시턴스, 기생저항을 알아보았다. 고분자유기물소자의 캐패시턴스의 변화는 탄소나노튜브와 고분자 유기물(polymer-CNT matrix) 에서 생성되는 블록들이 매우 얇은 유전층을 구성할 것으로 예상되며 이는 micro-capacitance로 고분자유기물소자의 구동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 예상된다. AC구동 고분자유기물소자에 탄소나노튜브를 함유하여 높은 효율을 얻을 수 있는 장점으로 차세대 디스플레이나 조명으로 탄소나노튜브의 쓰임새를 기대해 본다.
