  • A large number of works have been Performed to understand the electrochemical growth of Polypynole on conducting substrates in aqueous as well as in nonaqueous solutions. Recently most researches with Polypyrrole have tended to be directed toward technological applications, but many fundamental physical and chemical properties of Polypyrrole remain unknown. In Particular, microrheological Property of polypyrrole has been largely neglected until the advanced electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance technique was introduced recently. To study anion effects on microrheolosical Property of Polypyrrole, we investigated changes in viscoelasticity of Polypyrrole during electrochemical growth in neutral aqueous solutions by means of in siか electrochemical quartz crystal oscillator method. The results showed that the films of Polypyrrole synthesized in $KPF_6\;and\;KCIO_4$ were more viscoelastic than the ones in $KCI,\;KNO_3,\;KBr,\;KBF_4,\;K_2SO_4$, sodium tosylate (NaOTs), and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The growth rate of Polypyrrole in SDS was faster than that in the others utilized. Polypyrroles synthesized in buffered neutral solutions were more elastic than those in unbuffered neutral solutions.

  • A variety of informations obtained from satellite image, digital elevation relief map (DEM), borehole logging, televiewer, geophysical prospecting, etc were synthetically analyzed to investigate subsurface geological and structural characteristics and to evaluate geohazard pertinent to fault-damage in the Busan metropolitan city. It is revealed that the geology is composed of the Cretaceous andesitic$\sim$dacitic volcanics, gabbro, and granitoid and that at least three major faults including the Dongrae fault are developed in the study area. Based on characteristics of topography, fault-fractured zone, and isobath maps of the Quaternary sediments and weathered residuals of the basement, the Dongrae fault is decreased in its width and fracturing intensity of damaged zone from south toward north, and the fault is segmented around the area between the Seomyeon and Yangieong junctions. Meanwhile, we drew a geohazard sectional map using the five major parameters that significantly suggest damage intensity of basement by fault, i.e. distance from fault core, TCR, RQD, uniaxial rock strength, and seismic velocity of S wave. The map is evaluated as a suitable method to express the geological and structural characteristics and fault-damaged intensity of basement in the study area. It is, thus, concluded that the proposed method can contribute to complement and amplify the capability of the present evaluation system of rock mass.

  • This study develops a technique training program to enhance the completion of Kolman, the high air flight technique, and applies it to two national athletes of the horizontal bar, one of the gymnastic events, for eight weeks. After that, their improvement was measured through 3D motion analysis to help them elevate their performance. The training program includes swing, hand release, twist, and bar hold, and its implementation produced the results stated below. They were made to practice the motion in the following way. After the hand-standing of giant swing which initiates the motion, they lift their body upward a little bit more. Next, they take their body down almost like a vertical descent and make a deep tap swing. Instead of doing the tap swing which widens the flection of hip and shoulder joints, while body revolution is more emphasized in particular, they release the bar as raising the centroid of their body sufficiently. During the flight, they try to narrow every joint in their body. As a result, the bar's elasticity becomes greatly increased, and since the backing rate of their body gets higher, the centripetal force of the swing is improved that they can release the bar in the higher position. In addition, because they can erect their body faster during the flight, they can perform comfortable twist and revolution in the air. They can also adjust the direction of the flight easily without too much concern for the proper timing of hand release as they rise. Thereby, they can not only maintain adequate distance from the bar for the bar hold but also ensure enough distance for body revolution and twist.

  • The aim of this study was to develop a method for measuring the slumping resistance of resin composites and to relate it to the rheological characteristics. Five commercial hybrid composites (Z100. Z250. DenFil, Tetric Ceram. ClearFil) and a nanofill composite (Z350) were used to make disc-shaped specimens of 2 mm thickness. An aluminum mold with square shaped cutting surface was pressed onto the composite discs to make standardized imprints. The imprints were light-cured either immediately (non-slumped) or after waiting for 3 minutes at $25^{\circ}C$ (slumped). White stone replicas were made and then scanned for topography using a laser 3-D profilometer. Slumping resistance index (SRI) was defined as the ratio of the groove depth of the slumped specimen to that of the non-slumped specimen. The pre-cure viscoelasticity of each composite was evaluated by an oscillatory shear test and normal stress was measured by a squeeze test using a rheometer. Flow test was also performed using a flow tester. Correlation analysis was performed to investigate the relationship between the viscoelastic properties and the SRI. SRI varied between the six materials (Z100 < DenFil < Z250 < ClearFil < Tetric Ceram < Z350). The SRI was strongly correlated with the viscous (loss) shear modulus G' but not with the loss tangent. Also. slumping resistance was more closely related to the resistance to shear flow than to the normal stress. Slumping tendency could be quantified using the imprint method and SRI. The index may be applicable to evaluate the clinical handling characteristics of composites.

  • In pile load tests on end bearing piles, generally, it is not possible to continue loading to the ultimate load. Thus, the concept of yield load has been introduced for determining design loads Iron the pile load test records. The conventional rules to determine the yield load were not available for evaluation on pile load test records obtained in 6 fields nearby westers 8r Southern Coasts in Korea. A new rule 9.as presented to determine easily the yield load, based on investigations on the pile load test records. The yield load of piles is determined at the infiection point on semi-logarithmic coordinates (P-logS), in which load is plotted in normal scale and settlement is plotted in logarithmic scale. This method may not only save much costs and times but also present safe luorking circumstances for pile load tests in field. It was found that the yield load represented the elastic limit of the pile load-settlement behalf.iota. The ultimate load, which is given at 25.4mm settlement on pile head, was 1.5 times of the yield load. The allowable long-term and short-term load capacities were, respectively, 50% and 75% of the yield load. The safety factors to get the allowable pile capacity were obtained as 2.0~4.0 for the equations to predict the static pile capacity.

  • Wrist braces are being used for patients with wrist trauma. Recently, many studies have been conducted to manufacture custom wrist braces using 3D printing technology. Such 3D printing customized orthosis has the advantage of reflecting various factors such as reflecting different shapes for each individual and securing breathability. In this paper, the stress on the orthosis by the number and position of Velcro bands that should be considered when manufacturing a 3D printing custom wrist brace was analyzed. For customized orthosis, 3D modeling of the bone and skin regions was performed using an automatic design software (Reconeasy 3D, Seeann Solution) based on CT images. Based on the 3D skin area, a wrist orthosis design was applied to suit each treatment purpose. And, for the elasticity of the brace, a wrist brace was manufactured with an FDM-type 3D printer using TPU material. To evaluate the effectiveness according to the number and position of the Velcro band of the custom 3D printed wrist brace, the stress distribution of the brace was analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). Through the finite element analysis of the wrist orthosis performed in this study, the stress distribution of the orthosis was confirmed, and the number and position of the orthosis production and Velcro bands could be confirmed. These experimental results will help provide quality treatment to patients.

  • Raman spectroscopy is an optical technique that can identify molecules in a label-free manner, and is therefore heavily investigated in various areas ranging from biomedical engineering to materials science. Probe-based Raman spectroscopy can perform minimally invasive chemical analysis, and thus has potential as a real-time diagnostic tool during surgery. In this study, Raman experimentation was calibrated by examining the Raman shifts with respect to the concentrations of chemical substances. Raman signal characteristics, targeted for normal mice and cerebral tissues of the 5xFAD dementia mutant model with accumulated amyloid beta plaques, were measured and analyzed to explore the possibility of diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. The application to the diagnosis of dementia was cross-validated by measuring Raman signals of amyloid beta. The results suggest the potential of Raman spectroscopy as a diagnostic tool that may be useful in various areas of application.

  • Recently, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys have been actively employed to obtain a large amount of data on occurrences such as ground subsidence and road safety. However, considering the cost and time efficiency, more intuitive and accurate interpretation methods are required, as interpreting a whole survey data set is a cost-intensive process. For this purpose, GPR data can be subjected to attribute analysis, which allows quantitative interpretation. Among the seismic attributes that have been widely used in the field of exploration, complex trace analysis and similarity are the most suitable methods for analyzing GPR data. Further, recently proposed attributes such as edge detecting and texture attributes are also effective for GPR data analysis because of the advances in image processing. In this paper, as a reference for research on the attribute analysis of GPR data, we introduce the useful attributes for GPR data and describe their concepts. Further, we present an analysis of the interpretation methods based on the attribute analysis and past cases.

  • Purpose: Thyroglobulin (Tg) is a valuable and sensitive tool as a marker for diagnosis and follow-up for several thyroid disorders, especially, in the follow-up of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Often, clinical decisions rely entirely on the serum Tg concentration. But the Tg assay is one of the most challenging laboratory measurements to perform accurately owing to antithyroglobulin antibody (Anti-Tg). In this study, we have compared the degree of Anti-Tg effects on the measurement of Tg between availale Tg measuring kits. Materials and Methods: Measurement of Tg levels for standard Tg solution was performed with two different kits commercially available (A/B kits) using immunoradiometric assay technique either with absence or presence of three different concentrations of Anti-Tg. Measurement of Tg for patient's serum was also performed with the same kits. Patient's serum samples were prepared with mixtures of a serum containing high Tg levels and a serum containg high Anti-Tg concentrations. Results: In the measurements of standard Tg solution, presence of Anti-Tg resulted in falsely lower Tg level by both A and B kits. Degree of Tg underestimation by h kit was more prominent than B kit. The degree of underestimation by B kit was trivial therefore clinically insignificant, but statistically significant. Addition of Anti-Tg to patient serum resulted in falsely lower Tg levels with only A kit. Conclusion: Tg level could be underestimated in the presence of anti-Tg. Anti-Tg effect on Tg measurement was variable according to assay kit used. Therefore, accuracy test must be performed for individual Tg-assay kit.
