Batting index prediction model 2017 (2017년 한국프로야구 타자력 예측모형 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose batting index prediction models of 2017. Due to the insufficiency of KBO pitchers data, batting index prediction models of 2016 has been developed based on elected eight batting index collecting the past three years data of MLB and KBO. It has been found that this prediction model fits well to both MLB and KBO, and the KBO model fits better than MLB in some cases. Using these prediction models, we analyzed and compared 2016's estimated values for the batting index of MLB and KBO. With the relation results between batting index prediction and batter's age for MLB and KBO, it can be determined that there is no relationship between the significant batting index and ages.

Alternative hitting ability index for KBO (한국프로야구에서 타자력 지수 제안)

  • Among lots of sabermetric statistics for baseball batters' ability, the wins above replacement (WAR) is the most popular statistic in MLB. However, there exists a difficulty applying WAR to KBO, since KBO data do not have position adjustment, league adjustment and park factor which are essential in calculating WAR. In this paper, using five statistics for both KBO and MLB qualified batters, we propose hitting ability index (HAI), an alternative sabermetric indices to represent batters' ability. Comparing HAI with WAR of MLB batters, we evaluate the validity of HAI and then applied HAI to 2015 KBO data in which HAI is analyzed statistically with respect to different teams, ages, and positions. Moreover, the linear relationship between KBO batter's HAI and their annual salary is discussed. Grouping 46 KBO batters based on confidence region of the regression model for annual salary, we also statistically investigate batter's annual salary in these groups with respect to several factors.

Big Data Analysis of the Correlation between Average Daily Temperature and Batting Power (빅데이터를 활용한 타자의 장타력과 일일 평균 기온 간의 상관관계 분석)

  • The KBO League is held over a long period of time due to the large number of games. Also, Korea has a diverse and distinct climate. Therefore, this study analyzed the relationship between the daily average temperature and the record of batting power such as home runs, triples, doubles, number of bases, batting percentage, and net batting percentage, and a third baseball record was defined. For this study, the correlation between the daily average temperature data and the batter who entered the standard at-bat in the KBO League in 2019 was analyzed through the SEMMA method. From the results of this study, it was found that the average daily temperature had an effect on a batter's hitting power. In particular, it was found that a batter's hitting power decreased on the day of temperatures recorded between 20.0 degrees and 24.9 degrees, and it was discussed that this may have been related to the physical condition of the pitcher the batter was facing. Therefore, it can be expected that players, coaching staff, and the front desk can use them in the game through conditions outside the game. In addition, it is expected that it will be a more useful analysis model by analyzing the records of pitching, base running, and defense as well as subsequent batting records.

A study on relationship between the performance of professional baseball players and annual salary (한국 프로야구 선수들의 경기력과 연봉의 관계 분석)

  • This research deals with a relationship between the performance of Korean professional baseball players and their annual salaries. It is based on the sabermetrics, which measures the performance of baseball batters in a refined way. We collect the records of batters of eight professional baseball clubs during the season 2009 and 2010. Then, we calculate every index of the sabermetrics. Principal component analysis is used for examining the relationship between those indexes of sabermetrics and annual salary for the next year. In general, batters who show higher performance get more salary. The result of this research can be useful in order to reach an agreement on salary between a player and his club partner.

The Impact of Color on the Glove Pitcher Hitting a Batter Concentration (투수의 글러브 색상이 타자의 타격 집중도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the color that you want the pitcher glove hit impact on the intensity of the other. The color of the glove pitcher was set to black, orange, beige three kinds analyzed the concentration of the batter accordingly. Subjects of this study were 15 people targeting high school baseball players in Daejeon, through a pre- test and vision test color blind players were selected with no visual problems. After the blow of the experiment was used to color the glove Nideffer is modified to fit and complement the six subscales B-TAIS. As a result, when wearing a colored glove that contrasts with the color of the ball, the batter's concentration was increased. Hopefully, research will take place using the ball skill and equipment of various pitchers.

Analysis of the Relationship between a Batter's Performance and Discomfort Index using Big Data: focusing on the Number of Pitches and On Base Percentage (빅데이터를 활용한 타자의 출루 관련 경기력과 불쾌지수의 관계 분석 : 투구 수 유도와 출루율을 중심으로)

  • Recently, attempts have been made to use data to operate games, seasons, and teams in professional baseball. Therefore, in this study, we collected baseball game records and analyzed the relationship between on-base rate and pitching count induction, and this was defined as the third record for non-game factors such as discomfort index, which includes the weather application data. When the discomfort index was over 75, the pitcher's induction of pitching was high, and when the discomfort index was less than 69.9, the on-base rate was high, but when the discomfort index was 70 or more and less than 75, the batter's on-base performance was the lowest. Through the results of the study, it could be inferred that the discomfort index, the batter's on-base rate, and the number of induction pitches are related, and that it is highly likely to be related to the pitcher's performance. Through this study, we could see the possibility of defining a cumulative/ratio record defined as the primary record and a saver metric defined as the secondary record, and a third, tertiary record linking data outside the game.

  • 정보화된 미래사회를 준비하기 위하여, 우리나라에서는 실과의 한 영역과 학교재량시간을 통하여 컴퓨터 교육을 하고 있다. 그러나 실과 교육과정은 지나치게 기능 위주의 내용으로 되어있고, 학교 재량시간을 이용한 컴퓨터 교육에서는 타자연습이나 컴퓨터 활용교육만을 강조하고 있다. 이러한 교육은 컴퓨터와 친숙해지는 데는 도움을 줄 수 있지만, 고차원적인 사고력을 지닌 학생을 교육하는 데는 도움이 되지 못한다. 특별히 컴퓨터의 무한한 사용 가능성을 이용하여 창의적 문제 해결력을 기르는 교육은 매우 필요하다 하겠다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 문제 해결 능력 교육, 즉 문제 상황이 주어지고 이것을 해결하는 프로그래밍 교육이 매우 유용하나, 지금까지의 프로그래밍 교육은 지나치게 언어 기술교육에 초점을 두고, 단순 반복과 암기, 아동의 발달단계를 고려하지 않음으로 인해 오히려 창의성을 해치고 학습의 흥미도를 저하시켜왔다. 이에 본 연구에서는 학생들 수준에 맞춰 구체적인 결과물이 보이고, 쉽고 흥미롭게 학습할 수 있는 프로그래밍 교육과정을 개발하기 위해 'LED 소자를 이용한 프로그래밍 교육 방안'을 설계하였다. 본 연구를 통하여서 초등학교 학생들이 쉽고 재미있게 프로그래밍에 접근하고, 고차원적인 문제 해결력을 기르는 컴퓨터 교육과정의 한 모델을 제시하였다.

  • The starting point of this study is an examination of the vital role of terrestrial broadcasting in Korean society, where ethnic minorities have increasingly become visible. Korean terrestrial broadcasters' mandate emphasises the broadcaster's responsibility to represent and reflect the range of public opinion and experiences beyond class, age, ethnicity and ideological orientation. The main purpose of this study is to visually examine the means through which terrestrial broadcasting generates discourses of We-ness and Otherness at times of change in the Korean society. The study focuses on prime-time broadcasting news programmes' visual representations of migrants and ethnic minorities.

  • This paper tries to study theoretical transformation about modernity by analyzing changes of the concepts of Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知). Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知) was the main concept to explain the thought of Neo-Confucianism(性理學). But in the Modern era Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知) was understood as the meaning of Science. In Neo-Confucianism(性理學) Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知) was closely related to the side of human duty and the moral value judgement. But in the modern meaning Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知: Science) was focused to scientific study of the objective matter. So the Science on Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知學) effect to breakup the thinking of Neo-Confucianism(性理學).

Selecting the Batters of National Baseball Squad using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA를 이용한 야구 국가대표단의 타자 선발에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to identify whether the national baseball squad made up of the best players may get the outstanding results in the international competitions or not. Using Data Envelopment Analysis, the relative efficiency of players in Korean Baseball Organization is estimated as performance measure, and compared with the efficiency scores of national squad members. The paper focuses on the proper choice of DEA model in a baseball setting, thereby selecting the BCC model with non-discretionary variable. Two input variables(plate appearances and stolen bases to enforce) and three output variables(runs, on-base plus slugging and stolen base percentage) are used to evaluate the efficiency of the baseball players. Results showed that 22 players among 97 players were classified as efficient and 8 players among 12 national squad members were as efficient. These findings indicate a potential for DEA to be a major part of the analytical approaches in evaluating the relative efficiency of players.
