Clipart Image Retrieval System using Shape Information (모양 정보를 이용한 클립아트 이미지 검색 시스템)

  • This paper presented a method of extracting shape information from a clipart image and then measured the similarity between clipart images using the extracted shape information. The results indicated that the outlines of the extracted clipart images were clearer that those of the original images. Previous methods of extracting shape information could be classified into outline-based methods and region-based methods. Included in the former category, the proposed method expressed the convex and concave aspects of an outline using the ratio of a rectangle. Accordingly, the proposed method was superior in expressing shape information than previous outline-based feature methods.

  • 정보통신부는 1/4분기 디지털콘텐츠 대상에 영구아트의 'D-WAR', 아리수미디어의 '아리수 한글', 엔파인의 '아이클릭아트'를 선정했다.영상부문 수상작인 영구아트의 D-WAR는 개그맨 심형래씨가 제작중인 컴퓨터그래픽을 가미한 SF영화로, 지난 99년 제작에 들어가 내년 7월 전 세계에서 개봉될 예정이다. 엔파인의 '아이클릭아트'는 광고, 웹, 출판, 인쇄, 팬시, 교육 등에 사용되는 다양한 포토, 이미지, 클립아트, 캐릭터 등을 제공하는 디지털 이미지 포탈사이트(www.iclickart.co.kr)로 지난해 11월 미국에 수출돼 50만달러의 실적을 올리고 있다

Content-based Image Retrieval Using Data Fusion Strategy (데이터 융합을 이용한 내용기반 이미지 검색에 관한 연구)

  • In many information retrieval experiments, the data fusion techniques have been used to achieve higher effectiveness in comparison to the single evidence-based retrieval. However, there had not been many image retrieval studies using the data fusion techniques especially in combining retrieval results based on multiple retrieval methods. In this paper, we describe how the image retrieval effectiveness can be improved by combining two sets of the retrieval results using the Sobel operator-based edge detection and the Self Organizing Map(SOM) algorithms. We used the clip art images from a commercial collection to develop a test data set. The main advantage of using this type of the data set was the clear cut relevance judgment, which did not require any human intervention.
