Wind Load Analysis owing to the Computation Fluid Dynamics and Wind Tunnel Test of a Container Crane (컨테이너 크레인의 전산유동해석과 풍동실험에 의한 풍하중 분석)

  • Container cranes are vulnerable structure to difficult weather conditions bemuse there is no shielding facility to protect them from strong wind. This study was carried out to analyze the effect of wind load on the structure of a container crane according to the change of the boom shape using wind tunnel test and computation fluid dynamics. And we provide a container crane designer with data which am be used in a wind resistance design of a container crane assuming that a wind load 75m/s wind velocity is applied in a container crane. In this study, we applied mean wind load conformed to 'Design Criteria of Wind Load' in 'Load Criteria of Building Structures' and an external fluid field was divided as interval of 10 degrees to analyze the effect according to a wind direction. In this conditions, we carried out the wind tunnel test and the computation fluid dynamic analysis and than we analyzed the wind load which was needed to design the container crane.

  • Recently, an automatic crane control system is required with high speed and rapid transportation. Therefore, when container is transferred from th intial coordinate to the finial coordinate, the container paths should be built in terms of the least time and no swing. So in this paper, we calculated the anti-collision path for avoiding collision in its movement to the finial coordinate. And we constructed the neural network predictive PID (NNPPID) controller to control the precise navigation. The proposed predictive control system is composed of the neural network predictor, PID controller, neural network self-tuner which yields parameters of PID. Analyzed crane system through simulation, and proved excellency of control performance than other conventional controllers.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the effect of wind load on the stability of a 50ton container crane using wind tunnel test and provide a container crane designer with data which can be used in a wind resistance design of a container crane assuming that a wind load at 75m/s wind velocity is applied on a container crane. Data acquisition conditions for this experiment were established in accordance with the similarity. The scale of a container crane dimension, wind velocity and time were chosen as 1/200, 1/13.3 and 1/15. And this experiment was implemented in an Effect type atmospheric boundary-layer wind tunnel with $11.52m^2$ cross-section area. Each directional drag and overturning moment coefficients were investigated and uplift forces at each supporting point due to the wind load were analyzed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study of the applicability of the current response spectrum analysis method by grasping the dynamic behavior characteristics of soil-pile and pier-crane in pile mooring facilities. To this end, time history analysis was performed using Abaqus as a design variable for various soil types, pile-ground modeling, and structure specific cycles. The results were compared with the analysis results of the response spectrum. Subsequently, a problem has been found in the current response spectrum analysis and the improvements are needed when considering the dynamic behavior of the ground-pile and pier-crane of the pile mooring facility.

  • The productivity of automated container terminals is significantly affected by not only the speed related performances of automated transfer cranes(ATCs) but also the sizes of container blocks. In this paper, it is discussed how to determine the size of import container blocks considering both the container handling times of an ATC and their storage space. Firstly, evaluation models are suggested for the container handling times of an ATC in a typical import container blocks. Secondly, three mathematical formulations are suggested to determine the size of import container blocks. Numerical experiments for the suggested models to determine the size of import container block are provided.

  • Structure evaluation for 70/15 $T{\times}105\;m$ LLC(Level Luffing Crane)'s boom was conducted by Finite Element Method. Boom modeled with beam element was fixed by luff rope and boom mount and was received loads from self weight, luff hoisting, traveling motion, slewing motion, and wind force, etc. These applied loads were calculated using various factors presented in the reference standards and were inputted in the analysis model after considering about the adverse conditions of LLC. In the research, deformation, stresses, buckling of boom were evaluated by ANSYS. Structural safety of boom was confirmed in the results of numerical analysis.

Optimum Design of Movable Hydraulic Crane Booms (이동식 크레인 붐의 최적설계)

  • Optimum design of movable hydraulic crane's booms for weight reduction was performed in this study. Since the boom weight of the present used booms is very heavy, it is needed to make them lighter structure as possible as we can. Optimum design was performed for the booms by changing from the hexagonal cross section to triangular truss structure under the conditions, which are the allowable stress for the present cross section must be maintained, and the optimized weight must be minimized. CATIAV5 was used for stress analysis and design variables were established as the height and width of the triangular truss structure. As the results, it is found that the height of the truss structure is increased in proportion to the height of the booms and the maximum stress for optimal truss structure was obtained as 412MPa, which is lower than the allowable stress for the present hexagonal cross section. The optimized weight of the booms is reduced to about 19.88% comparing to the original weight.

  • Many malfunction take place in container crane spreader due to impact. So we designed a 2 DOF hydraulic impact absorbing equipment to absorb the impact and we studied the change of damping coefficient with respect to the variation of dimensions of oil-Cylinder wail. When we design the dimension of hydraulic cylinder wall considering the displacement on the wall, the value of it over 20m didn't affect the damping coefficient.

  • 기초의 지지방식 중 깊은 기초로 분류되는 말뚝기초는 일반적으로 고강도의 기성강관(Spiral Steel Pipe)을 재료로 한 말뚝을 사용하는 것이 설계 및 시공측면에서 유리하나, 현재 국내 외의 치솟는 건설원자재 비용 및 고유가에 따른 장거리 운반비용의 증가와 더불어 건설현장에서의 경제적 부담이 상당부분 증가되고 있는 실정이다. 특히, 개발후진국을 비롯한 건설 산업의 국제적 진출에 대한 활기와 더불어 해외현장 변동상황(원자재의 수급 문제에 따른 공기지연 및 경제성) 등을 고려하면 이에 대한 능동적인 대처가 절실할 수 있다. 본 사례는 중동지역 $\bigcirc\bigcirc$조선소의 이러한 현장여건을 고려하여 중 소하중 규모의 크레인 기초에 적용된 말뚝의 구조 해석적 검토와 지역 지반조건을 반영하여 안정하고 현지조달이 가능한 말뚝 재료의 변경을 제안한 경우이다. 본 검토에서는 기초 말뚝의 정역학적 허용지지력과 기초지반 조건을 고려한 항타관입 분석 및 크레인 이동하중을 고려한 응력해석을 실시하여 최대연직력, 모멘트, 전단력, 응력비 등을 비교하였으며, 동일한 검토조건하에서 결과를 바탕으로 변경 가능한 말뚝을 선정하였다. 기초지반에 대한 적정안전율을 갖는 허용지지력 및 구조적 안정성의 확보가 가능한 콘크리트 말뚝으로의 변경이 가능하며 상부하중 규모에 따라 설치간격에 따른 파일본수의 증 감이 발생되었다.
