  • This study presents product marketing strategy for mobile gift-giving by recognizing how consumers' propensity of conspicuous consumption and level of impression management affect the choice between hedonic goods and utilitarian goods. Data were collected through an online survey, and logistic regression analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0. The result of this study showed that people with high propensity of conspicuous consumption chose hedonic goods more than utilitarian goods in mobile gift-giving regardless of the level of impression management. On the other hand, those who with low propensity of conspicuous consumption chose utilitarian goods more than hedonic goods when the level of impression management was low, while these was no difference in choice between hedonic and utilitarian goods when the level of impression management was high. This study proposes to advertise in consideration of consumers' propensity of conspicuous consumption and impression management in marketing mobile gift products, especially for hedonic goods. Advertisements can appeal to consumers by using the desire to recognition or show off. Furthermore, further research can be conducted in consideration of other factors affecting gift behavior and expanding the age group.

  • While recent economic stagnation has left consumers dispirited, rapid growth has been seen in the domestic coffee industry recently. With the growth in coffee consumption, a tremendous increase in the number of specialty coffee shops has been seen in the domestic coffee market. The expectation that markets specializing in coffee will continue to grow for a long time will cause existing enterprises to expand their shops and increase the rate of entry of new shops. Intense competition in the domestic coffee market will force companies to create a competitive advantage through differentiated marketing strategies. This paper focuses on how the shopping value and repatronage intention of customers using coffee shops is affected by service quality. Moreover, this paper intends to examine the service quality that is critical for the successful management of relationships and the values that are important to consumers. For these purposes, the discriminative effect of service quality on shopping value was analyzed and the effect of utilitarian and hedonic value on repatronage intention was reviewed. The results of this study are detailed below. First, interaction and outcome quality can positively affect the hedonic value, whereas environment quality is not meaningful for utilitarian value. Considering the relative effect on utilitarian value outcome, the effect of outcome quality is greater than that of interaction. This result shows that the role of outcome quality is most important for improving utilitarian value. Second, outcome and environment quality positively affect hedonic value; however, interaction quality does not meaningfully increase hedonic value. These results indicate that customers recognize hedonic value on the basis of their evaluation of the service outcomes and the background to delivery service. In particular, it was revealed that the relative effect of outcome quality on hedonic value is greater than that of environment quality. Third, both utilitarian value and hedonic value had a positive effect on repatronage intention. The relative influence of the hedonic value is that the shopping value affects the repatronage intention more than the utilitarian value. These results mean that customers recognize coffee shops as spaces for satisfying utilitarian and hedonic values, and they place more importance on the benefits of the emotional experience than functional needs. Finally, this study suggests that output quality is more important than other service factors, and the results of this paper give some implications to the coffee shop industry that customers seek utilitarian needs based on economic value and place more weight on hedonic value, such as that offered by relationship media.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine a moderating effect of consumers'need for uniqueness and a store type in the relation between golf apparel consumers'shopping values and store loyalty. A total of 229 shoppers visiting golf shops at two department stores and four discount stores in Seoul was conveniently selected and responded to the survey questionnaire. Data analyses were conducted including frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and moderated multiple analysis with PASW 18.0. The results of this study indicated that (1) both utilitarian shopping value and hedonic shopping value affected store loyalty, (2) the impact of both shopping values on store loyalty was moderated by consumers' need for uniqueness, and (3) the impact of hedonic shopping value on store loyalty was moderated in terms of the store type, whereas the effect of utilitarian value on store loyalty was not moderated with the store type. Additional implications and directions for future research opportunities were discussed and suggested.

This study was verified by empirical survey and the results are summarized as follow. First, it was found that price, salesperson's professionalism, store accessibility had a significant positive impact on the repurchasing intention of flowers. Second, it was found that price is the first important factor influencing the repurchasing intention of flowers, and next salesperson's professionalism is the second important one, and lastly store accessibility is the third important one. For implications of this study, this study investigated the cause-and-effect relationship between flower shops' store attributes and the repurchasing intention of flowers for people who buy flowers for themselves with a hedonic shopping motivation, so it provides a theoretical foundation for further studies.

  • In recent years, consumers emphasize the various sensory experiences in the process of shopping rather than the practical value of shopping results. In order to satisfy consumers' diverse needs, retailers transform their offline stores into experiential spaces to encourage consumers to experience diverse and enjoyable experiences. This study divided the sub-factors of customer experience into hedonic experiences, functional experiences, and social interaction experiences, and investigated the effect of sub - factors of customer experience on consumers' enjoyment and intention to stay in off-line store. In addition, it is assumed that there will be a difference in the influence of three levels of customer experience on enjoyment according to the consumer's self-construal levels. As a result of this study, all of the hypotheses were supported except hypothesis 1 that the customer's hedonic experience has a positive effect on pleasure. In addition, as a result of verifying the moderating effect of self-construal levels, the self-construal level of consumers has no significant effect on the path of hedonic experiences on pleasure, but significant moderating effects of self-construal levels were identified in the pathways of functional and social interactive experiences on pleasure. The results of this study will be helpful in identifying and utilizing differentiated experience marketing strategies in the off-line stores that only offline channels can have in the fierce competition due to the diversification of distribution channels.

  • Alan Goldman criticizes "means-end analyses" in that they define the concept of sexuality in terms of extrinsic values to sexuality, such as reproduction, love, and communication. And he claims that sexual desire in itself is only "desire for contact with another person's body and for the pleasure which such contact produces." I suggest that his analysis of sexuality also fails to offer the exact definition of sexuality, and that it also produces the hierarchial conception of sexuality just as those analyses that he refuses do. I agree to Christopher Hamilton's suggestion of Wittgenstein's idea of "family resemblance" and suggest a new sexual ethics focusing on the sexual autonomy. New sexual ethics demands that each person should formulate, reflect, evaluate, and revise his or her sexuality according to his or her own conception of sexuality and teleology. And I claim that new sexual ethics does not formulate distinct domain, but belongs to general ethics which general behaviors are judged through.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of salesperson's adaptive selling tactics on consumers who purchase Small and Medium Enterprises' product with the help of salespeople in the store. Specifically, we examine whether salesperson's adaptive selling tactics affect consumers hedonic shopping value and utilitarian shopping value. Furthermore, we try to figure out the effect of shopping value on the salesperson relationship commitment and consumer product satisfaction. The subjects of this study have surveyed the consumers with experience in purchasing SME's products through salespeople in the Gyeongnam area. As data process, SPSS 21.0 was used as the analysis tool and AMOS 21.0 was used to analyze the structural equation model. The implications of these findings are as follows. First, the salesperson's role has a positive effect on the consumer's product satisfaction. Second, it can be suggested that the salesperson's adaptive selling tactics are an important variable affecting the consumer's shopping value. Third, the results on the consumers who have hedonic shopping value have a strong positive influence rather than the consumers who have the utilitarian shopping value. The adaptive selling tactics of the salesperson should be encouraged to increase sales performance. In order to generate more performance in a competitive market environment, it is necessary to continuously strive to increase contact between the salesperson and the consumer in order to improve the quality of the relationship.
