The Influence of Store Images of Discount Stores on Shopping Values and Shopping Satisfaction: The Roles of Perceived Retail Crowding (대형마트의 점포이미지가 쇼핑가치 및 쇼핑만족에 미치는 영향: 지각된 혼잡의 역할)

  • Conceptualization of store image have been suggested in the past by many marketing scholars. The dominant perspective about store image is treated as the results of a multi-attribute model. Store image is expressed as a function of the salient attributes of a particular store that are evaluated. Though, there is a little confusions about what elements compose the store image, most scholars agree that merchandise, service, atmosphere, physical facilities, comfort, and location are generally accepted elements as store image. A considerable researches support that shopping can provide both hedonic and utilitarian value. Hedonic shopping value reflects the value received from fantasy and emotive aspects of shopping experience, while utilitarian shopping value reflects the acquisition of products. These two types of shopping value can affect shopping satisfaction. This study examines the relationships among stores images(store atmosphere, salespeople services, facilities, product assortment, and store location), shopping values(utilitarian shopping value and hedonic shopping value), and shopping satisfaction based on discount stores (E-Mart, Home plus, and Lotte Mart). The author hypothesized that five store image components affect shopping values, and these shopping values affect shopping satisfaction. The author focused on the roles of perceived retail crowding between these relationships. Specifically, the author hypothesized that perceived retailing crowding moderated the relationship between shopping values and shopping satisfaction. The author also hypothesized the direct effect of perceived retail crowding on shopping satisfaction.     . To test model and hypotheses, data were collected from 114 consumers located mid-size city in local area. The author employs PLS methodology (SmartPLS 2.0) to test hypotheses. Data analysis results indicate that among five store images salespeople services, and store location affect utilitarian shopping value. Result indicates that perceived retail crowding affects directly shopping satisfaction and there is a non-linear relationship between them.     • This study analyzed empirically difference of purchase intention about price raising of luxury brand according to consumer characteristics such as consumption value, prior knowledge. and perceived risk. Fist, groups according to consumption value showed obvious differences. Group of pursuing uniqueness and ostentation value and group of pursuing quality and pleasure value showed positive purchase intention but group of pursuing social recognition value showed negative purchase intention. Second, groups according to perceived risk. didn't show difference and groups according to prior knowledge showed obvious difference. group of high prior knowledge showed positive purchase intention but group of low prior knowledge showed negative purchase intention. Third, analyzed result about interaction effect of consumer characteristics, Classified group of pursuing uniqueness and ostentation value, expressing high prior knowledge and Classified group of pursuing quality and pleasure value, expressing high perceived risk only showed positive purchase intention, The results of this study present implication to domestic companies aiming luxury brand that performing differently strategy of product and price according to target characteristics is more effective way in differentiating oneself from existing luxury brands and expanding market.

    • The emergence of the mobile commerce market as a new megatrend, mobile shopping is becoming an important distribution channel in the domestic online shopping market. The purpose of this study is to classify shopping values perceived by mobile social commerce users into a utilitarian value and a hedonic value explained and to empirically examine the effects of social commerce characteristics on the purchase intention and shopping values in mobile social commerce. conclusion, this implies that site providers and sellers need to try to supply cheaper and more economical products than those offline and provide the most effective and optimum information and service so sellers and consumers can exchange messages with each other and create meanings.

    • 현재 COVID-19 전염병으로 인해 전 세계적으로 오프라인 상점 대신 소비자는 전자 상거래를 선호하는 추세이다. 이에 실시간 상호작용과 상거래의 통합인 '라이브 커머스'가 각광받고 있다. 국내 라이브 커머스 시장규모가 2023년에는 10조원이 넘어설 것이라는 전망에 비하여 연구가 현저히 적은 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에선 라이브커머스의 가치와 소비자의 동기가 적극적인 소비자 행동인 E-WOM 의도를 어떻게 예측하는지 살펴보았다. 라이브 커머스의 가치로는 쾌락적가치, 실용적가치, 상징적가치와 감정적가치로 분류하였다. 또한 수단-목적사슬 이론 및 이용과 충족 이론을 적용하여 설명하였다. 종속변수인 E-WOM 의도와에 사이에서 라이브커머스의 주역할을 하는 판매자를 매개변수로 설정하였다. 이때 판매자의 상호작용성과 신뢰도로 구분짓고 연구를 설정하였다. 그리고 지각된 위험성을 조절변수로 활용하여 지각된 가치들과 판매자의 사이에서 영향이 있는지 살펴보였다. 본 연구의 설문 응답 대상은 네이버 라이브 커머스 이용 대상자 410명을 대상으로 진행하였다.

    • This study explored the Internet searching values(utilitarian searching value and hedonic searching value) of college student consumers, typed the Internet searching values to four types, and analysed the level of perception to Internet shopping' benefit-risk according to the Internet searching value types. The subjects were 361 college students. We used Cronbach'$\alpha$, multiple regression, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffe' test as statistical analysis. The results were summarized as follows : 1) According to the Internet searching values, college student consumers were classified into 4 types - high utilitarian/high hedonic type, high utilitarian/low hedonic type, low utilitarian/high hedonic type, and low utilitarian/low hedonic type. 2) Both high utilitarian/high hedonic type and low utilitarian/high hedonic type had high level of perception to Internet shopping' benefit-risk.

    • This study focuses on the moderating effect of sex role on the relationship between perceived values on the reward program of tele-communication firms and customer satisfaction. To test moderating effect, Difference test for distinct parameters in Amos 18.0 program was used. Results show that both kind of perceived values(utilitarian value and hedonic value) have a significant effect on customer satisfaction. And the moderating effect of sex variable was verified. For male, hedonic value has influenced on the customer satisfaction more than utilitarian value. And for female, reversely, utilitarian value has influenced on the customer satisfaction more than female value.

    • The purposes of this study were to consider the influence of person-late night fit in the perceived value, intent of late-night shopping. The late-night shopping model which we present in this study incorporates three effects including the time fit and the physiological fit, the mood fit factors. Also, we expect that these fits effect utilitarian value and hedonic value, in turn, utilitarian value and hedonic value effect shopping intent. Survey research is employed to test hypotheses involving late-night fits, values, shopping intent. We collected data involving various late-night shopping, and used 221 respondents to analyze these data using LISREL structural modeling. The proposed model was a good fit with the data(GFI= .96 NNFI= .80 CFI= .92, AGFI= .88, RMR= .044), the hypothesized relationships were partly significant(p< .05). In the final section, we discussed several limitations of our study and suggested directions for future research. We concluded with a discussion of managerial implications, including the potential to advance understanding experiential consumption and implying an enhanced ability to attract late-night shopper.

    • This study was to examine whether the hedonic and utilitarian shopping values were expressed in shopping experience among the undergraduates and how the consumers with different shopping values vary in the perception of credit cards' benefit and risk. The 215 undergraduates in Seoul were surveyed. The results indicated that undergraduates were divided into hedonic shoppers and utilitarian shoppers according to their shopping value and that the perception of credit cards' benefit and risk was explained by the four factors including the increased cost, the removing the immediate need for money, the additional service and benefits, and the overspending and credit crime. The overspending and credit crime as one of the risk factors was affected by the types of shopping values.

    • The purpose of this study is to find out the important factors and efficient strategies concerning Internet marketing. This study contributes to the effect on shopping behavior of Internet consumer applying technology acceptance model(TAM) in the Internet fashion merchandise shopping environment. The areas of study interest are, the perceived hedonic values, the perceived usefulness, the perceived ease of use, attitude toward using in Internet shopping mall and purchase intention of the fashion merchandise. To fulfill this objectives, a survey was conducted from May 20 to June 20 in 2007, and an subject of study is the college students and business man aged from 20s to 30s in purchase experience of the fashion merchandise to Internet shopping malls. Data collected over the Internet, and analyzed the 217 subjects. The empirical studies were summarized as follows. First, the perceived hedonic values, the perceived usefulness, and the perceived ease of use had an effect on attitude toward using in Internet fashion shopping mall. Second, the perceived hedonic values had an effect on the perceived usefulness in Internet fashion shopping mall. Third, the perceived ease of use had an effect on the perceived usefulness in Internet fashion shopping mall. Forth, the attitude toward using had an effect on intention of repurchase in Internet fashion shopping mall.

    • This study investigates the effect of service ubiquity perceptions on consumers' responses to virtual stores such as benefit and risk perceptions, shopping value perceptions, and service usage intention. Data were collected via a self-administered online survey from nationwide consumer panels of an online marketing research firm. Questionnaire items were adopted from previous literature and developed by authors via pretesting to measure variables. The results revealed that virtual store service ubiquity affects consumer benefit perceptions as well as risk perceptions. All benefit perceptions (including time effectiveness, user control, and compatibility) had significant mediating effects between service ubiquity and hedonic/utilitarian shopping service value perceptions. The mediating effect of financial risk was significant only in the relationship between service ubiquity and utilitarian value perception. The findings offer retailers and marketers information in regards to consumers' perception of a virtual store usage, which can enhance service and product strategy.
