Concrete is much more easily damaged by various parameters than by the only one and performance reducing mechanism grows more complicated in that condition. In addition, the factors which really act in concrete structure tend to be activated in turn and the degradation of concrete is very rapidly progressed. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the properties of polymer cement mortars under combined cures. The polymer cement mortars are prepared with various polymer types, polymer-cement ratios and cement-fine aggregate ratio, and tested for compressive and flexural strengths, accelerated carbonation, chloride ion penetration and acid resistance test, and freezing-thawing test. The properties of polymer cement mortars under combined cures is discussed. From the test results, polymer cement mortars have superior strengths compared with plain cement mortar under combined cures. The strengths of polymer cement mortars are markedly increased at curing condition II and V, however strengths are not improved at curing condition I and IV irregardless of polymer types. The carbonation and chloride ion penetration depths of polymer cement mortars tend to decrease in curing conditions, III-C, IV-B, V-A order, and decrease with increasing polymer cement ratios. It is concluded that polymer cement ratio of 10 to 15% are considered optimum for the preparation of such polymer cement mortars.

The hydration and strength of concrete are affected by curing conditions, especially curing temperature. In this paper, the hydration temperature of heated curing concrete specimen are measured by thermo-couples instead of conduction calorimeter, and strengths of concrete are tested. The results of this study show that the compressive strengths of concrete are especially dependent on the curing temperature. And the strength results of concrete agree approximately with the results of approach to the hydration process of cement concrete.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of ground granulated blast-furnace slag on strength development and durability of ordinary portland cement concrete (OPC) with steam curing types. Main experimental variables were slag contents(0%, 10%, 30%, 50%, 70%) and curing types (standard, accelerated curing). It were performed to check the basic properties of concretes that compressive strength, rapid chloride ion permeability and chemical resistance. From the result, we have found that increasing the amount of blast-furnace slag produced concrete with increased compressive strength and permeability resistance. Rapid freezing-thawing test showed that they were good enough to protect the concrete structures and to carry out cyclic freezing and thawing. The freeze-thaw resistance of blast-furnace slag produced concretes maintained above 90% of relative dynamic modulus after 300 freezing-thawing cycles. Increasing the amount of blast-furnace slag produced concretes with increased chemical resistance.
The purpose of this study is to propose a method to predict the minimum curing time of early age concrete required to prevent frost damage. Tests were performed to examine major factors, which affect the compressive strength of concrete frozen at early ages and investigate the source of frost damage at early age concrete. The results from the tests showed that the loss rate of compressive strength decreases as the beginning time of frost damage was delayed and water-cement ratio was lower. In addition, the test results also showed that concrete made with type III cement was less susceptible to frost damage than concrete made with ordinary Portland cement and frost damage occurred through the formation of ice lenses. When early age concrete is being damaged by frozen, a phase transition into ice of free water presented at the capillary pores of the concrete gives a reason for the decrease of compressive strength. Accordingly, the frost resistance of fresh concrete can be determined based on the saturation degree of the capillary pores. The method to predict the minimum curing time was suggested using the concept of critical saturation degree of the capillary pores.

New thermal crack control system for mass concrete was developed to increase quality and to save construction period and cost. The principle of this system is that the curing water having proper temperature is supplied automatically to the surface of mass concrete member to keep the temperature difference between center and surface of concrete less than generally recommended temperature difference ($20^{\circ}C$). Mock-up test was conducted to investigate the validity of newly developed curing system. As a result, no crack was founded in the specimen using automated curing system developed in this study, while many cracks occurred in another specimen without automated curing system. It was also confirmed that the strength and the durability of the concrete cured by automated curing system were improved.
In most of construction work, especially mat foundation construction, it is very important that accidents be prevented at early aged construction stage. To reduce the risk of accidents, it is necessary to choose the curing method to provide instructions for safety forming work by proper curing of concrete after placing. Therefore, this paper has proposed a designation algorithm of curing method for representing curing type and period by analyzing the transient hydration heat solution, focusing on mat foundation construction. This has been implemented, moreover, using an object oriented programming language to develop structural analysis system taking account crack index. In addition, we present in this paper a safety curing management system developed to assess risk during forming work.

Technologies for rapid concrete curing using elevated temperature are important for saving cost and time when constricting concrete structures. Recently, a microwave heating form was developed. In this study the early strength of concrete cured by the developed form was experimentally investigated. Large scale mock up tests were conducted six times, and the results were analyzed based on the maturity theory. Logarithmic correlation curves were generated based on the measured strength and estimated maturity. It was confirmed that the strength development of the concrete cured by microwave heating form can be estimated by the equivalent age theory usually applied to steam-curing technology. By using the microwave heating form, one day at most is enough to get the required strength for the safe removal of forms, even in cold weather.
Aggregate resources in Korea are expected to run out owing to an increase in development demand and construction investment. Recycled concrete aggregates (RCA), extracted from waste concrete, have a lower quality than natural aggregates. However, RCA can produce concrete similar in quality to the normal concrete by aggregate pretreatment, use of admixtures, and quality control. RCA are most suitable for use in precast concrete products such as sidewalk blocks and revetment blocks. Herein, the feasibility of producing revetment blocks using recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), similar in quality to normal concrete, was analyzed. The amount of RCA was varied, and moderate high early strength cement and steam curing were used to produce the concrete test blocks. In the block test, the load resistance characteristics of the blocks were evaluated to determine optimal RAC and glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebar compositions. Thus, the variable that reduced the cement content was determined at the same level as that of natural aggregate concrete by the control of steam curing. In the concrete block test, although this depends on the reinforcement ratio, the RAC block exhibited the same or better performance than a normal concrete block. Therefore, the low quality of RCA in RAC is no longer a problem when concrete mixing and curing are controlled and appropriate reinforcement is used.
This paper discusses the validities of insulating curing of cold weather concreting at early stage by applying insulation forms. Tests were carried out using modified insulating form combining existing insulating form and various other insulations in order to develop improved insulation form. Temperature history of concrete using various insulating forms and insulation was measured to determine most effective combination of insulting form. According to results, as for the wall form, under the curing temperature of $-10^{\circ}C$, the temperature of concrete using Euro form drops sharply before 24 hours and lasts below $0^{\circ}C$ for 7 hours. The temperature of concrete using the form combining Polypropylene panel, styrofoam and plywood panel keep above $0^{\circ}C$. And, it is confirmed that the form mentioned above has a favorable effects on enhancing strength development of concrete and the cost to make the forms shows more reasonable than that of existing forms. However, as for the combination methods of insulation form for slab, which is composed of insulating form at the bottom of slab and various surface curing materials at the top of slab, in case of exposed condition at the top of slab, temperature history of concrete goes below $0^{\circ}C$ after 10 hours. In case of the combination of vinyl sheet and curing blanket, it drops below $0^{\circ}C$ after 42 hours. However, in case of the combination of vinyl, styrofoam and curing blanket, it does not go below $0^{\circ}C$ until 55 hours. Accordingly, compared to the case of exposure and the combination of vinyl and curing blanket, it indicates that the combination mentioned above has more effective insulating performance.
