Chloride ion inside concrete destroys the so-called passive film surrounding reinforcing bars inside concrete so that the so-called salt attack accelerates corrosion which is the most critical factor for durability as well as structural safety of reinforced concrete structures. Recently, as a solution of the salt attack, the ground granulated blast-furnace slag(GGBFS) have been used as binder or blended cement more extensively. In this paper, characteristics of chloride ion diffusion for the GGBFS concrete, which is known to possess better resistance to damage due to the chloride ion penetration than ordinary portland cement(OPC) concrete possesses, are analyzed and a chloride ion diffusion model for the GGBFS concrete is proposed by modifying an existing diffusion model for the OPC concrete. The proposed model is verified by comparing diffusion analysis results using the model accelerated chloride penetration test results for concrete specimens as well as field test results for an RC bridge pier. Then, an optimal resistance condition to chloride penetration for the GGBFS concrete is obtained according to degrees of fineness and replacement ratios of the GGBFS concrete. The result shows that the GGBFS concrete has better resistance to chloride ion penetration than OPC concrete has and the resistance is more affected by the replacement ratio than the degree of fineness of the GGBFS.

This study is conducted to utilize waste concrete powder made as a by-product manufacturing high quality recycled aggregate. The blaine fineness of the used waste concrete powder was 928 and $1,360cm^2/g$. As the main characteristic of waste concrete powder, it showed an angular type similar to cement, but hydrated products were attached on the surface of particles. In addition, the size of the particles of waste concrete powder was larger than OPC and in terms of chemical components it had higher $SiO_2$ contents. The viscosity of the paste that mixed waste concrete power decreased by 62% at the most, compared to the paste that only used OPC, and the final set time was delayed about two hours. As composition rates of waste concrete powder increased, the flow value decreased by 30% at the most according to the comparison with mortar that only used OPC, and sorptivity coefficients increased by 70%. The compressive strength of mortar decreased by 73% at the most as composition rates of waste concrete powder increased. According to the test results, it is desirable to use waste concrete powder by combining OPC appropriately(below 15%).

The disposal of constructive waste is emerging as a national and social issue and the recycled powder generated by the production of reproductive aggregate is all being abolished or buried Analysis on the harmful effect of recycled powder indicated that because it contained massive cytotoxicity, it could derive secondary pollution to soil and subterranean water. This study set on an idea that one way to recycle recycled powder was to use it as a compound of concrete. In order to study that prospect, recycled powder, instead of cement, was mixed and a comparative analysis was conducted on the mechanical properties and workability. From experimental results, it was judged that application of recycled powder of cement replacement ratio below 20% was available with chemical admixtures. Also application of recycled powder was available to high strength concrete.

This study is to be investigate properties of workability, compacting and compressive strength replaced by the illite powder in high fluidity concrete. For this purpose, illite powder has replaced the binder of high fluidity concrete of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%. After concrete mixing, slump flow test, reach time slump flow 500mm, O-lot test were conducted on fresh high fluidity concrete. And compressive strength was determined 28 days for the hardened high fluidity concrete specimens. According to the test results, the workability, filling height of high fluidity concrete were increased in 10% replacement of illite powder. Furthermore, the compressive strength of high fluidity concrete was increased in 10% replacement of illite powder.. It was possible to confirm that optimal mixture ratio of illite powder seems to exist, and it is shown to be 10% according to our experimental results.

This study was intended to evaluate the properties of concrete incorporating stone powders which are created during crushing natural stones to produce crushed aggregates. For concretes with 0~30 wt.% partial replacement fine aggregates with stone powders, experiments of slump, air content, strength and drying shrinkage were carried out. The experiments found that the increase of the amount of stone powders sharply decreased slump and air content. Partially using stone powders instead of fine aggregates was found to increase both compressive and tensile strength slightly. Substituting higher amount of stone powders presented higher drying shrinkage. When HRWRA was added into the concrete with stone powders in order to obtain workability similar to that of plain concrete without stone powders for the same water-cement ratio and unit weight of cement, air content increased with the amount of HRWRA but strength and drying shrinkage were hardly affected by adding HRWRA.

In recent years, the terminology "High-Performance Concrete(HPC)" has been introduced into the construction industry. Most high-performance concretes have a high cementitious content and a low water-cementitious material ratio. The proportions of the individual constituents vary depending on local preferences and local materials. Therefore, many trial batches are usually necessary before a successful mix is developed. The objective of this experiments is to investigate the fundamental properties of high performance concrete based binary cimentitious materials such as ordinary portland cement and ground granulated blast furnace slag. The results from the study will be utilized as the basic data and guideline in making standard mixproportions and the manufacture, construction work and quality control of HPC
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of ground granulated blast-furnace slag on strength development and durability of ordinary portland cement concrete (OPC) with steam curing types. Main experimental variables were slag contents(0%, 10%, 30%, 50%, 70%) and curing types (standard, accelerated curing). It were performed to check the basic properties of concretes that compressive strength, rapid chloride ion permeability and chemical resistance. From the result, we have found that increasing the amount of blast-furnace slag produced concrete with increased compressive strength and permeability resistance. Rapid freezing-thawing test showed that they were good enough to protect the concrete structures and to carry out cyclic freezing and thawing. The freeze-thaw resistance of blast-furnace slag produced concretes maintained above 90% of relative dynamic modulus after 300 freezing-thawing cycles. Increasing the amount of blast-furnace slag produced concretes with increased chemical resistance.

Recently, there are a lot of researches related to the high-fluidity concrete (HFC) with field applications. However, most applications and studies are with concretes with high strength level so there are little studies about durability evaluations such as chloride ion penetration properties with normal strength concrete. Therefore, to evaluate the durability of HFC with normal strength level, this study performed the chloride ion penetration test and observed the micro pore distribution with normal strength HFC which contains limestone powder. Experimental results showed that most micro-pores have diameters between 0.005 to 0.05 ${\mu}m$ with HFCs using limestone powder and the average diameter becomes larger with the increase of limestone powder content. Also, it was shown that, with the increase of the limestone powder content, penetration depth and diffusion coefficient of chloride ion increased and diffusion coefficient had good relationships with compressive strength and average pore diameter with the coefficient of determination over 0.90.

GGBFS(Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) has been widely used in concrete for its excellent resistance chloride and chemical attack, however cracks due to hydration heat and dry shrinkage are reported. In many International Standards, GGBFS with low fineness of 3,000 grade is classified for wide commercialization and crack control. In this paper, the mechanical and durability performance of concrete were investigated through two mix proportions; One (BS) has 50% of w/b(water to binder) ratio and 60% replacement ratio with low-fineness GGBFS, and the other (TS) has 50% of w/b and 60% replacement ratio with 4000 grade and FA (Fly Ash). The strength difference between TS and BS concrete was not great from 3 day to 91 day of age, and BS showed excellent performance for chloride diffusion and carbonation resistance. Two mixtures also indicate a high durability index (more than 90.0) for freezing-thawing since they contain sufficient air content. Through improvement of strength in low fineness GGBFS concrete at early age, mass concrete with low hydration heat and high durability can be manufactured.
