Shrinkage Reducing Agent(SRA) was developed in order to control drying shrinkage cracks in concrete, and the use of SRA is increasing since it can control drying shrinkage cracks and improve the quality of concrete structures. Although there are many types of prediction equations of drying shrinkage strain, there is no prediction method which can consider the effect of SRA up to the present. Therefore, it is impossible to predict the tensile stress generated by drying shrinkage of SRA concrete, and to investigate the quantitative serviceability limit state of SRA concrete. In this study, the drying shrinkage of SRA concrete was investigated by experiment and analysis in order to suggest the predictability of drying shrinkage of SRA concrete. As a result, AIJ model, ACI model, GL2000 model showed there was a correlation between the predicted values and the experimental values within the error range of ${\pm}10%$. However, CEB-FIP model and B3 model underestimated the experimental values.

Constitutive modeling of constituent materials is very important for reinforced concrete (RC) frames. Cyclic constitutive behavior of unconfined concrete, confined concrete and reinforcing steel should be well defined in fiber-based discretization of RC sections. This study performs nonlinear dynamic analyses of RC frame structures to investigate the sensitivity of seismic behavior of such frames to different constitutive models of constituent materials. The study specifically attempts to examine confinement effects in concrete modeling and degrading effects in steel modeling, which substantially affects the monotonic, cyclic and seismic responses of RC members and frames. Based on the system level analysis, it is shown that the response of non-ductile frames is less sensitive to confined concrete models while the modeling of reinforcing steel is quite influential to the inelastic response of both non-ductile and ductile frames.
The objective of this study is to provide the information on the manufacturing and exper-
, ructures. imental techniques of small scale modeling of precast concrete(P.C.) large panel :-t
The ad~~pted scale was one-fifth. 4 types of experiments were performed : nlaterial tests for
model concrete and model reinforcement, compressive test of horizontal joint, shear test of vertical
joint and cyclic static test of 2-story subassemblage structure. Based on the experimental
results, the following conclusions are drawn : i 1) Model concrete had in general larger compressive
strength than expected. (2) Model reinforcement showed less ductility if the annealing
processes were performed without using vaccuum tube. 131 Failure niotles of horizontal and vertical
joints were almost same for both prototype and model. But the strength of model appears to
be higher than required by similitude law. (41 Hysteretic behavior of 1 /T, scale subassemblage
model can be made quite similar to that of prototype if the ductility of model reinforcement and
compressive strength of model concrete could be representative of those of prototype.

A numerical model that can simulate the nonlinear behavior of ultra high strength fiber reinforced concrete (UHSFRC) structures subjected to monotonic loading is introduced. The material properties of UHSFRC, such as compressive and tensile strength or elastic modulus, are different from normal strength reinforced concrete. The uniaxial compressive stress-strain relationship of UHSFRC is designed on the basis of experimental result, and the equivalent uniaxial stress-strain relationship is introduced for proper estimation of UHSFRC structures. The steel is uniformly distributed over the concrete matrix with particular orientation angle. In advance, this paper introduces a numerical model that can simulate the tension-stiffening behavior of tension part of the axial member on the basis of the bond-slip relationship. The reaction of steel fiber is considered for the numerical model after cracks of the concrete matrix with steel fibers are formed. Finally, the introduced numerical model is validated by comparison with test results for idealized UHSFRC beams.

Recently, a high strength concrete of more than 40 MPa has been increasingly used in practice. However, use of the high strength concrete may influence on design parameters, particularly stress distribution. This is very true since the current everyday practice employs equivalent rectangular stress distribution that is derived from normal strength concrete. Subsequently, the stress distribution seems to be reevaluated and then a new distribution with new parameters needs to be suggested for the high strength concrete. For this purpose, linear and multiple regression analyses have been carried out in term of using experimental data for the high strength concrete of 40 to 80 MPa available in literatures. Accordingly, new parameters associated with the stress distribution have been proposed and employed for the design of flexural and compressive members. Comparative design examples indicate that designs with new parameters reduce section dimensions compared to those with the current code parameters for concrete strengths of 40 to 70 MPa. In particular, for compressive members, design with new parameters exhibit conservative compressive force compared to those with the current code parameters.

In the study, we analyzed the collision characteristics of a so-called arch-type submarine cable protector by considering the changes in drop heights of a stock anchor and material models for concrete and steel reinforcing bars. We considered plastic kinematics model and Johnson-Holmquist Concrete model for the concrete and linear elastic model and plastic kinematics model for the reinforcing bars. The drop heights of 2-ton stock anchor were selected as 3, 5, and 8.83m, respectively. ANSYS, a finite element analysis program, was used for the collision analysis. To save computational time, we converted those drop heights into initial velocities by the principle of energy conservation. From the sensitivity of the material models on the drop height changes, it is shown that the collision response of the reinforcing bars is sensitive firstly on the steel models and secondly on the concrete models, while the collision response of the concrete is sensitive only on the concrete models.

Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) laminate sheets, which are lightweight with high strength, are commonly used to reinforce concrete structures. The bonding strength is vital in structural design. Therefore, experiments and analytical studies with differing variables (concrete compressive strength and tensile strength, the elastic modulus of concrete and FRP, thickness of concrete and FRP, width of concrete and FRP, bond length, effective bond length, fracture energy, maximum bond stress, maximum slip) have been conducted to obtain an accurate numerical model of the bond strength between an FRP sheet and concrete. Although many models have been proposed, no validated model has emerged that could be used easily in practice. Therefore, this study analyzed the parameters that influence the bond strength that were used in 23 of the proposed models (Khalifa model, Iso model, Maeda model, Chen model, etc.) and compared them to the test results of 188 specimens via the numerical results of each model. As a result, an easy-to-use practical model with a simple and high degree of expression was proposed based on the Iso model combined with the effective bond length model that was proposed by Holzenkӓmpfer.
In the previous study, direct inelastic strut-and-tie model (DISTM) was developed to perform inelastic design of reinforced concrete members by using linear analysis for their secant stiffness. In the present study, for convenience in design practice, the DISTM was further simplified so that inelastic design of reinforced concrete members can be performed by a run of linear analysis, without using iterative calculations. In the simplified direct inelastic strut-and-tie model (S-DISTM), a reinforced concrete member is idealized with compression strut of concrete and tension tie of reinforcing bars. For the strut and tie elements, elastic stiffness or secant stiffness is used according to the design strategy intended by engineer. To define the failure criteria of the strut and tie elements, concrete crushing and reinforcing bar fracture were considered. The proposed method was applied to inelastic design of various reinforced concrete members including deep beam, coupling beam, and shear wall. The design results were compared with the properties and the deformation capacities of the test specimens.

To improve fire-resistance of a high strength concrete against spalling under elevated temperature, fibers can be mixed to provide flow paths of evaporated water to the surface of concrete when heated. In this study, the experiment of a column under fire and mechanical loads is conducted and the material model for predicting temperature of reinforcement steel bar and mechanical behavior of fiber-mixed high strength concrete is suggested. The material model in previous studies is modified by incorporating physical behavior of internal concrete and thermal characteristics of concrete at the elevated temperature. Thermo-mechanical analysis of the fiber-mixed high strength concrete column is conducted using the calibrated material model. The performance of the proposed material model is confirmed by comparing thermo-mechanical analysis results with the experiment of a column under fire and mechanical loads.
