Energy Harvester on a Ship Propulsion Shaft for Wireless Sensor System Applications (무선센서 시스템 응용을 위한 선박 추진 축계용 에너지 하베스터)

  • In this work, an energy harvester (EH) on the rotating shaft has been proposed for a wireless sensor system (WSS) applications. The EH was designed and implemented to the shaft with a diameter of 20 cm to continuously power a wireless sensor system (WSS). The rotor has coils wound in pairs on seven U-shaped cores attached to the shaft. The stator consists of eight pairs of magnets attached to eight I-cores and they are fixed to an outer fixture. The generated power of the EH was investigated as function of the air gap between the rotor and stator, the number of turn of coils, and shaft speed. The fabricated EH produced power up to 2.87 W at 300 rpm and the 3 mm air gap.

Comparative Effects of Mattress Type on Subjective and Objective Sleep Quality : A Preliminary Study (매트리스의 종류가 건강한 성인의 주관적, 객관적 수면의 질에 미치는 영향에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the effects of mattress type on both objective and subjective sleep quality in healthy good sleepers. Methods: Fifteen healthy good sleepers with a mean age of 30.8 years participated in this study. A randomized crossover trial was carried out using two different mattress types: a standard mattress and a contour coil mattress. After a night of adaptation, all participants were randomized to either a standard mattress or a contour coil mattress. Then, nocturnal polysomnography was conducted for two consecutive nights. Subjective evaluations were obtained using a self-report questionnaire before and after the polysomnographic recording sessions. Results: The polysomnographic showed no differences in total sleep time, sleep stage, or wake time after sleep onset between the two mattress conditions. Of the polysomnographic variables, only sleep onset latency was significantly reduced for the contour coil mattress. Additionally, participants reported better subjective sleep quality when sleeping on the contour coil mattress, according to the questionnaires. Conclusion: The type of mattress might affect not only subjective, but also objective sleep quality, including sleep onset latency.

Computational Fluid Dynamics Model for Solar Thermal Storage Tanks with Helical Jacket Heater and Upper Spiral Coil Heater (상부 코일히터를 갖춘 나선재킷형 태양열 축열조의 성능예측을 위한 CFD 해석모델 개발 및 검증)

  • In a solar domestic hot water (SDHW) system, solar energy is collected using collector panels, transferred to a circulating heat transfer fluid (brine), and eventually stored in a thermal storage tank (TST) as hot water. In this study, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model was developed to predict the solar thermal energy storage in a hybrid-type TST equipped with a helical jacket heater (mantle heat exchanger) and an immersed spiral coil heater. The helical jacket heater, which is the brine flow path attached to the side wall of a TST, has advantages including simple system design, low brine flow rate, and enhanced thermal stratification. In addition, the spiral coil heater further enhances the thermal performance and thermal stratification of the TST. The developed model was validated by the good agreement between the CFD results and the experimental results performed with the hybrid-type TST in SDHW settings.

Development of Profile Technique for Steam Generator Tubes in Nuclear Power Plants Using $8{\times}1$ Multi-Array Eddy Current Probe ($8{\times}1$ 다중코일 와전류탐촉자를 이용한 원전 증기발생기 전열관 단면형상검사 기법 개발)

  • Various ECT techniques have been applied basically to assess the integrity of steam generator tithing in nuclear power plant. Among these techniques, the bobbin probe technique is applied generally to examine the volumetric flaws such as a crack-like defect and wear which is generally occurred on steam generator tubing, and additionally MRPC probe is used to examine closely tile top of tubesheet and bending regions due to the high possibility of cracking. Dent and bulge also may be formed on tube during installation process and operation of steam generator, but the dent and bulge indications greater than specific size criteria are recorded on examination report because these indications are not considered as flaw. These indications can be easily detected with bobbin probe and approximately sized with profile bobbin probe, but the size and shape can not be accurately verified. Accordingly, in this study, the $8{\times}1$ multi-array EC probe was designed to increase the measurement accuracy of the sectional profiling EC testing of tube. As a result, we would like to propose the application of $8{\times}1$ multi-array EC probe for the measurement of size and shape of profile change on steam generator tube in OPR-1000 nuclear power plant.

Optimal Design of New Magnetorheological Mount for Diesel Engines of Ships (선박용 디젤엔진을 위한 새로운 MR 마운트의 최적설계)

  • This paper presents an optimal design of a magnetorheological(MR) fluid-based mount(MR mount) that can be used for to vibration control in diesel engines of ships. In this work, a mount that uses mixed-modes(squeeze mode, flow mode, and shear mode) is proposed and designed. To determine the actuating damping force of the MR mount required for efficient vibration control, the excitation force from a diesel engine is analyzed. In this analysis, a model of a V-type engine is considered. The relationship between the velocity and pressure of gas in terms of the torque acting on the piston is derived. Subsequently, by integrating the field-dependent rheological properties of commercially available MR fluid with the excitation force, the appropriate size of the MR mount is designed. In addition, to achieve the maximum actuating force under geometric constraints, design optimization is undertaken using the ANSYS parametric design language software. Through magnetic density analysis, optimal design parameters such as the bottom gap and radius of coil are determined.

  • This paper presents an optimal design of magnetorheological (MR) fluid based mount (MR mount in short) which can be applicable to vibration control of diesel engine of ship. In this work, a mixed - mode including squeeze mode, flow mode and shear mode is proposed and designed.   • This paper presents a new structure for a linear active magnetic bearing using a Halbach magnet array. The proposed magnetic bearing consisted of a Halbach magnet array, center magnet, and single coil. The proposed linear active magnetic bearing has a high dynamic force compared to the previous study. The high dynamic force could be obtained by varying the thickness of a horizontally magnetized magnet. The new structure of Halbach linear active magnetic bearing has a high dynamic force. Therefore, the proposed linear active magnetic bearing increased the bandwidth of the system. Magnetic modeling and optimal design of the new structure of the Halbach linear active magnetic bearing were performed. The optimal design was executed on the geometric parameters of the proposed linear active magnetic bearing using Sequential Quadratic Programming. The proposed linear active magnetic bearing had a static force of 45.06 N and a Lorentz force constant of 19.54 N/A, which is higher than previous research.

  • 본 논문에서는 단상 thyristor 정류기 구조의 대전력 150KVA급의 mash seam 용접기에 용접 센터링등 여러 가지 용접 효율 향상을 위한 부가 장치를 포함한 용접장치 개발을 통한 용접품질 분석결과를 보이고 있다. 일반적으로 제철소에 사용되는 수10KVA급의 용접기들은 그동안 전량 수입에 의존하던 것을 공동연구를 통해서 국산화에 성공하였다. 본 시스템은 기존의 타사제품의 기능을 포함하여 용접 센터링 장치, 용접 전후단 의 크램핑기능, 선후행 코일의 선단부를 절단하는 shear ing 기능, 용접 휠높이 자동조절기능을 포함하였으며, 자체 설계된 대전력용 변압기, 대전력 절환용 thyristor 제어들을 포함한 용접기로써 기존의 타사제품에 비하여 기능적, 성능적으로 향상된 형태로써 용접 성능 검사에서도 양호한 결과 얻었다. 본 논문에서는 mash seam 용접기의 기본적인 기능설명과 개된 용접기를 기능별로 설명하고, 실용접 결과를 소개하여 향후 계획을 제시한다

Probe Pitch에 따른 Si 식각 특성 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 Si wafer에 마스크 공정 및 Slit-etching 공정을 적용하여 25 um 피치의 probe unit을 개발하기 위해 Deep Si Etching 장비를 이용하여 식각공정 조건에 따른 특성을 평가하였다. 25 um pitch는 etch 폭의 크기에 따라 3종류로 설계하였으며, 식각공정은 2수준, 4인자 실험계획법에 의해 8회 실험을 수행하였다. 실험계획법에 의해 미니탭을 활용하여 최적조건을 구한 결과 12.5 um etch 폭에서는 가스유량은 200 sccm, 에칭시간 7 sec, 코일 파워 1500W, 에칭 압력은 43.7 mtorr의 조건이 etch 형태 및 profile angle이 목표치에 근접한 결과를 얻었다. 또한 probe pitch를 30~60 um까지 증가시켰을 경우 Etch depth는 증가하였으며, 식각율 또한 증가한 현상을 보였다. 재현성 실험을 위해 위의 최적조건을 이용하여 2회 반복하여 실험한 경우 모든 시편이 목표치에 도달하였다. 이는 미세피치화 되는 프로브 유닛의 기초데이터로 활용될 수 있다.

  • When a hearing aid' s user is listening through telephone or cellular phone, he/she usually suffers from severe electrical magnetic interference noise. It is because hearing aids amplify voice signal as well as background noise. A telecoil, an induction coil, is a possible solution for the problem. Because a telecoil has the characteristic of high pass filter, it has some problem of resulting increased high frequency noise. For solving this problem, we can use a capacitor connected with the telecoil in parallel. According to capacitance, receiving signal quality may change. In this paper, proper capacitor values for the best sound quality are investigated by experimental work.
