In this study, vertical dynamic analyses on the suspension bridges under seismic load are developed. Time domain analysis, random vibration analysis, and spectral analysis are formulated theoretically. The random nitration analysis is checked by numerical integration and the mathematical integration with correlation coefficient which include CQC and SRSS method in the conditions of white noise and filtered white noise. Beam, truss and frame elements are used in order to model the suspension bridge. Geometric stiffness due to dead load is considered for cable and tower.

In this paper, to estimate the dynamic behavior of a submerged floating tunnel(SFT) by underwater explosion(UE), the SFT is modeled and analyzed by the explicit structural analysis package LS-DYNA. The section of SFT near to explosion point is modeled to shell and solid elements using elasto-plasticity material model for concrete tubular section and steel lining. And the other parts of the SFT are modeled to elastic beam elements. Also, mooring lines are modeled as tension-only cable elements. Total mass of SFT is including an added mass by hydrodynamic effect. The buoyancy on the SFT is considered in its initial condition using a dynamic relaxation method. The accuracy and the feasibility of the analysis model aree verified by the results of series of free field analysis for UE. And buoyancy ratio(B/W) of SFT, the distance between SFT and an explosion point and the arrangement of mooring line aree considered as main parameters of the explosion analysis. As results of the explosion analysis, the dynamic responses such as the dent deformation by the shock pressure are responded less as more distance between SFT and an explosion point. However, the mooring angle of the diagonal mooring system can not affect the responses such as the horizontal displacement of SFT by the shock pressure.

In the study, we analyzed the collision characteristics of a so-called arch-type submarine cable protector by considering the changes in drop heights of a stock anchor and material models for concrete and steel reinforcing bars. We considered plastic kinematics model and Johnson-Holmquist Concrete model for the concrete and linear elastic model and plastic kinematics model for the reinforcing bars. The drop heights of 2-ton stock anchor were selected as 3, 5, and 8.83m, respectively. ANSYS, a finite element analysis program, was used for the collision analysis. To save computational time, we converted those drop heights into initial velocities by the principle of energy conservation. From the sensitivity of the material models on the drop height changes, it is shown that the collision response of the reinforcing bars is sensitive firstly on the steel models and secondly on the concrete models, while the collision response of the concrete is sensitive only on the concrete models.

Considering the effect by uncertainty in the structures, it is reasonable that the safety examination has to be performed by using method of reliability evaluation. Therefore, in this study, program is developed which can perform the reliability analysis or the dynamic response analysis more efficiently by formularizing the stochastic finite element analysis suitable for the existing reliability analysis about the cable stayed bridge suffering the seismic loads. Based on this program, the characteristic of dynamic responses is analyzed quantitatively by examining the average, the standard deviation and the coefficient of variance about the displacement, the resistance and the tension of cable according to the random variables. and the safety of cable stayed bridge is evaluated by examining of reliability index and failure probability

The method based on various mathematical characteristic equations for identifying tensile forces in the cable structure system are used as response data to reflect the properties of the dynamic sensitivity. The vibration tests have been conducted with respect to levels of applied weight for the sagged cable. In this study, a set of natural frequencies are extracted from the measured dynamic data. Next, existing characteristic equation methods based these extracted natural frequencies are applied to identify tensil forces of the sagged cable system. Through several verification procedures, the proposed methods could be applied to a sagged cable system when the initial material data are insufficiency.

This paper is considered on the dynamic behavior and the dynamic impact coefficient on the cable-stayed bridge under the vehicle load. The method of static analysis, that is, the transfer matrix method is used to get influence values about displacements, section forces of girder and cable forces. Gotten influence values were used as basic data to analyse dynamic behavior. This paper used the transfer matrix method because it is relatively simpler than the finite element method, and calculating speed of computer is very fast and the precision of computation is high. In the process of dynamic analysis, the uncoupled equation of motion is derived from simultaneous equation of the motion of cable-stayed bridge and vehicle travelling by using mode shape, which was borne from system of undamped free vibration. The solution of the uncoupled equation of motion, that is, time history of response of deflections, velocity and acceleration on reference coordinate system, is found by Newmark-${\beta}$ method, a kind of direct integral method. After the time history of dynamic response was gotten, and it was transfered to the time history of dynamic response of cable-stayed bridge by linear transformation of coordinates. As a result of this numerical analysis, effect of dynamic behavior for cable-stayed bridge under the vehicle load has varied depending on parameter of design, that is, the ratio of span, the ratio of main span length, tower height, the flexural rigidity of longitudinal girder, the flexural rigidity of tower, and the cable stiffness, investigated. Very good agreements with the existing solution in the literature are shown for the uncracked plate as well as the cracked plate.

This paper presents long-term dynamic characteristics of a cable-stayed bridge where installed SHM (Structural Health Monitoring) system. Modal parameters such as natural frequencies and mode shapes are identified by modal analysis using three dimensional finite element model. The developed baseline model has a good correlation with measured natural frequencies identified from field ambient vibrations. By statistical data processing between measured natural frequencies and temperatures, it is demonstrated that the natural frequency is in linearly inverse proportion to the temperature. The estimation of temperature effects against frequency variations is performed. Mode shapes are identified from the TDD (Time Domain Decomposition) technique for ambient vibration measurements. Finally, these results demonstrate that the TDD method can apply to identify modal parameters of a cable-stayed bridge.

Under harsh environments in which remote control is impossible, wire-guided control technology is effective for controlling distant underwater vehicles that serve mother ships in missions, such as exploration and installation. When the fiber is unwound from the spool, tension fluctuations occur in the fiber because of the relative velocity of the moving vehicles and unwinding velocity of the fiber. As a result, fiber cables exhibit complicated behaviors, become entangled, and may get cut. In this study, a spool-like design for winding tens of kilometers of fiber cables is proposed by analyzing cable winding. The unwinding performance of the designed spool is estimated by performing nonlinear dynamics analysis of the nonlinear behavior and tension fluctuations observed during the unwinding of the fiber.
In this work dynamic heat transfer in a CPFS (cable penetration fire stop) system built in the firewall of nuclear power plants is three-dimensionally investigated to develop a test-simulator that can be used to verify effectiveness of the sealant. Dynamic heat transfer in the fire stop system is formulated in a parabolic PDE (partial differential equation) subjected to a set of initial and boundary conditions. First, the PDE model is divided into two parts; one corresponding to heat transfer in the axial direction and the other corresponding to heat transfer on the vertical planes. The first PDE is converted to a series of ODEs (ordinary differential equations) at finite discrete axial points for applying the numerical method of SOR (successive over-relaxation) to the problem. The ODEs are solved by using an ODE solver In such manner, the axial heat flux can be calculated at least at the finite discrete points. After that, all the planes are separated into finite elements, where the time and spatial functions are assumed to be of orthogonal collocation state at each element. The initial condition of each finite element can be obtained from the above solution. The heat fluxes on the vertical planes are calculated by the Galerkin FEM (finite element method). The CPFS system was modeled, simulated, and analyzed here. The simulation results were illustrated in three-dimensional graphics. Through simulation, it was shown clearly that the temperature distribution was influenced very much by the number, position, and temperature of the cable stream, and that dynamic heat transfer through the cable stream was one of the most dominant factors, and that the feature of heat conduction could be understood as an unsteady-state process.

In this paper, to recognize the collision behavior between a submerged floating tunnel(SFT) and underwater navigation vessel(UNV), both structures are modeled and analyzed. The SFT of collision point is modeled tubular section using concrete with steel lining. The other part of SFT is modeled elastic beam elements. Mooring lines are modeled as cable elements with tension. The under water navigation vessel is assumed 1800DT submarine and its total mass at collision is obtained with hydrodynamic added mass. The buoyancy force on SFT is included in initial condition using dynamic relaxation method. The buoyancy ratio (B/W) and the collision speed are considered as the collision conditions. As results, energy dissipation is concentrated on the SFT and that of the UNV is minor. Additionally, the collision behaviors are greatly affected by B/W and the tension of mooring lines. Especially, the collision forces are shown different tendency compare to vessel collision force of current design code.
