Analysis of Elementary Students' Smartphone Addiction Level by Demographic Features (인구통계학적 특성에 따른 초등학생의 스마트폰 중독 수준 분석)

  • Recently, use of smartphones has increased so sharply at all ages that addiction problems have emerged. This study analysed factors, focusing on demographic variables, that impact on smartphone addiction of elementary students. First, differences between distributions of addicted groups and those between distributions of most frequently used smartphone functions per variable are analyzed. As a result, grade and academic achievements yield the biggest differences between distributions of addicted groups and gender, grade, and academic achievements yield differences between distributions of most frequently used smartphone functions. Also, differences between distributions of most frequently used smartphone functions per addicted user group are regarded significant. Furthermore, factors affecting smartphone addiction are analysed through the logistic regression analysis and decision trees, where grade, academic achievements, dual-income parents, and residential areas are found affecting in that order.

  • Social problems are coming to light due to the dysfunction which is caused by the improvement of ICT and the increasing information with computers and one of these problems is teenagers' computer toxicosis. In order to measure such an toxicosis, test paper that is developed by Kimberly S. Young is typically used. In this study, along with the test paper, localized Korean Internet addiction test (K-index) was used and the study was also made on the basis of such result. With results of sorting the data on the basis of K-index diagnosis criteria, it showed general users were 534 (64.8%), with potential risk users were 229 (27.8%) and high risk users were 61 (7.4%). This study was for the purpose of finding out sufficient and essential conditions ( outer behaviors ) of computer toxicosis for high risk users and searching for preventive measures for them.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate children's Perception of parenting attitude parent and learned helplessness on addictive use of computer game. The data was collected through paper-pencils surveys with 745 students who are attending the 4, 5, and 6 grade of three elementary schools. The instrument used to see how they looked at the parenting attitude of their was Ji-hyun Hwang(2006)'s Perceived Parenting Attitude Inventory, Chang-woo Song(1997)'s Learned Helplessness, and Internet Game Addiction Test by developed Korean Agency Digital Apportunity & Promotion. Statistics and methods used for the data analysis were Cronbach'a alpha, freuency, percentage, Two-Way ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation, and Regression by using SPSS WIN 12.0. The results of this study is described as follows. In this study, prevalence of computer addiction tendency and addiction is 14.3%. Male students showed highest computer addiction game than female students.

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm the relationship between the subjective symptoms of smartphone addiction and visual display terminal syndrome in nursing college students and learning flow in the COVID-19 pandemic. For the collection of materials, the materials of the final 134 people were analyzed by collecting the students at the nursing colleges located in S city and M city for convenience. The collected materials were subjected to descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients using the SPSS / WIN 26 program. As a result of this study, the learning flow of nursing college students was negative correlated to the tendency of smartphone addiction and the subjective symptoms of visual display terminal syndrome. Therefore, to improve the learning flow of nursing college students, it is necessary to reduce the symptoms of smartphone addictive use and visual display terminal syndrome. The need for intervention and development of various effective programs for smart phone addiction management and display terminal syndrome management was suggested.

  • 매체의 소유와 이용이 특정 계층의 전유물이던 예전과는 달리, 요즈음의 어린이들은 태어남과 동시에 자연스럽게 여러 종류의 매체들에 접하게 된다. 그 중 컴퓨터가 보급되면서 정보시대가 열리게 되었고, 인터넷이 급속도로 확산되면서 인터넷은 생활 속에서 커다란 자리를 차지하게 되었다. 인터넷은 전 세계를 동일한 공간과 시간으로 연결하면서 이전의 매체가 제공하지 못했던 즉각적 정보의 확산 인간관계의 확장과 의사소통 속도가 증가, 새로운 범세계적 커뮤니티의 형성을 가능하게 하는 등 긍정적인 영향뿐만 아니라 부정적인 영향에 대한 우려의 목소리가 높아지고 있는 가운데 'PC중독' 그리고 최근 들어 'PC방 중독' 현상에 대한 관심이 또한 고조되고 있다. 이에 중 고등 학생들을 대상으로 한 컴퓨터 중독 관련 연구는 상당수 이루어졌으나 초등학생을 대상으로 한 질적 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구는 초등학생들 대상으로 PC중독에 대한 질적 사례연구로 아동들의 PC중독의 문제와 상담방법을 질적 사례 연구방법으로 접근 하였다.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of internet addiction by self-esteem level. Most of the existing research has introduced a variety of methods to treat the addiction but the study for casual factors are not entirely satisfactory. Internet addiction is intensified by a variety of casual factors, but during the survey to validate the hypothesis that the biggest impact is the self-esteem level. According to this study, psychological factors of self-esteem is caused an internet addiction than social environmental factor and familial factor. The results of this study can be utilized in a variety of programs to increase the level of self-esteem as a reference for the treatment of internet addiction.

  • This study examines the impact of the internet addiction of the internet environment (expect, approach, anonym) in adolescents with the structural equation modeling(AMOS 6.0). A few major findings are reported : First, the internet environment for example expect, anonym in adolescents affected the internet addiction; Second, the internet environment for example expect, anonym in adolescents which are analysis on the centrol effects to the impact of the relation of personal factors and family factors affected to differ the internet addiction.

COMPUTER GAME PLAYING PATTERNS AND PSYCHOPATHOLOGY IN SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN (학령기 아동의 컴퓨터게임 이용 양상과 정신병리)

  • Objectives : The object of this study was to examine computer game playing patterns and psychopathologies related to computer game addiction in school-age children. Methods : The subjects were 533 elementary school students (4th to 6th grade) in Kangdonggu, Seoul. We evaluated computer playing patterns of all subjects using computer game playing pattern questionnaire, and determined the risk group of computer game addiction by internet game addiction scale score. We evaluated subscale score of K-CBCL from parents of all subjects, and conducted correlation analysis and logistic regression analysis between computer game addiction and subscale score of K-CBCL. Results : In 488 responders, 10.2% of started playing computer game in preschool age, and 67.2% started at low grade of elementary school. The mean frequency of computer game play per week was 3.66 days. Mean time spent playing computer games per day was 1.89 hours. 'Simply for fun' was the most common reason far playing computer games (40.8%). Male subjects showed statistically significant differences in age of starting computer game, frequency of computer game play per week, reasons for playing computer game and computer game addiction scale scores. There were significant correlations between computer game addiction scale scores and academic performance, somatic complaints, attention problems, and internalizing problems in K-CBCL. But In logistic regression analysis, only attention problems among K-CBCL subscales showed significant predictability to computer game addiction. Conclusion : Upper grade elementary school students experienced computer game playing at the very early age, and spend much time in playing computer games. There were significant correlation and predictability between computer game addiction and attention problems.

  • Due to the advent of new smart devices, the new technology addiction problems have been much severer than the Internet addiction recently. A lot of research about each technology addiction has been proposed, but the research about the changes in the addictions has been rare. In this paper, we analyze how the environmental factors such as parents and friends affect the personal factors such as time perspectives and technology usage time. In addition, we get the relative importances among the factors which influence on the Internet and mobile phone addictions. As a result, we can analyze the relationships among the factors and the differences between the two addictions with time perspective. In order to achieve our goals, we surveyed on 1,420 primary and secondary school students. We also provided the results produced by structural equation model and Budescu's Dominance analysis. Based on these analyses, we described the differences between the Internet and mobile phone addictions and proposed an alternative to prevent new technology addictions.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between internet addiction and stress of college students. To assess the degree of internet addiction, internet addiction test of the center for online addiction was completed. Subjects were divided into three group depending on internet addiction ; subjects with 20-49 internet scores were grouping as 'normal usage group', subjects with 50-79 internet scores were grouping as 'addiction tendency group', and subjects with more than 80 internet scores were grouping as 'internet addiction group'. In this study it is found that interpersonal relationship stress is significantly related to internet addiction. Also, the result of this study shows that home background stress and school background stress have influence on internet addiction.
