  • In this paper, the reduced size of broad bandpass filter with parallel coupled line structure is presented. This proposed filter can control bandwidth of narrow to broadband by adjusting the coupling coefficient. The conventional filter is operated with a narrow band. If a higher bandwidth is desired than the conventional narrow bandwidth, it is hard to realize due to the coupling coefficient between feeding line and resonator. In this paper, to overcome this limitation, a proposed bandpass filter is designed with reduced size due to SIR(Stepped Impedance Resonator) and multi-grade type structures than conventional one, and it has characteristics of adjusting bandwidth freely as per quantity of coupling coefficient. The proposed bandpass filter that, experimental results of insertion and return losses are 0.42 dB and 20.9 dB with bandwidth of 60 % at the center frequency of 5.8 GHz, respectively.

  • This paper presents a design of the successive approximation ADC(SA-ADC) applicable to a midium-low speed analog-front end(AFE) for the maximum 15MS/s CCD image processing. SA-ADC is effective in applications ranging widely between low and mid data rates due to the large power scaling effect on the operating frequency variations in some other way of pipelined ADCs. The proposed design exhibits some distinctive features. The "differential capacitor-coupling scheme" segregates the input sampling behavior from the sub-DAC incorporating the differential input and the sub-DAC output, which prominently reduces the loading throughout the signal path. Determining the MSB(sign bit) from the held input data in advance of the data conversion period, a kind of the signed successive approximation, leads to the reduction of the sub-DAC hardware overhead by 1 bit and the conversion period by 1 cycle. Characterizing the proposed design in a 3.3 V $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS process by Spectre simulations verified its validity of the application to CCD analog front-ends.

  • This paper describes the design of a size-reduced ring hybrid coupler for microwave band using an artificial dielectric substrate(ADS). ADS structure adopts the second substrate on which has lots of the metalized via-holes. The effective capacitance and effective dielectric constant per unit length of ADS increases compared to the normal substrate due to the via-holes. This enables the physical length of microstrip transmission line to be reduced by adopting ADS instead of the normal substrate. In order to present an example of size-reduction of microwave wireless circuit by ADS, a size-reduced 3GHz ring hybrid coupler is designed, fabricated and measured in this work. The designed coupler has the smaller size from the normal one by 65% due to the ADS, while no critical degradation from ideal performances is observed. The measured power division ratio at two output ports are -3.05dB and -3.135dB, respectively. In addition, the phase differences are 3o for in-phase division and 176o for out of phase split. The measured performances are so similar to ideal ones, and prove the design of size-reduced ring hybrid coupler using ADS is successful.

  • The fatigue happening during the road riding of the vehicle and for the moment the aircraft lands on the runway is closely related to the life cycle of the landing gear, the airframe, the vehicle's suspension, etc. The multiple loads acting on the wheel are longitudinal, lateral, vertical, and braking forces. To study the dynamic characteristics and fatigue stiffness of the vehicle, the dynamic fatigue simulator generally has been used to represent the real road vibration in the lab. It can save time and cost. In hardware, the critical factor in the hydraulic fatigue simulator structure is to decouple each axis and to endure several load vibration. In this paper, the inverse kinematic analysis method derives the magnitude of movement of the hydraulic servo actuator by the coupling after rendering the maximum movement displacement in the axial direction at the center of the dummy wheel. The result of the analysis is that the coupling between the axes is weak to reproduce the real road vibrations precisely.

  • Scan capabilities of Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) antennas are investigated for the case of a $4{\times}1$ thinned array placed inside the cavity. The FPC array antenna has higher maximum gain and lower sidelobe level (SLL), but the maximum scan angle of the thinned array is 14-17% lower than the patch array alone, due to increased mutual coupling in the FPC structures. However, unlike the bare thinned array, the SLL of FPC array does not suffer from the grating lobe problem even though it has a relative large element spacing of more than $1.0{\lambda}_0$.

  • As demand for high value-added products with hard materials increases, the line center is used for producing high value-added products in many industries such as aerospace, automobile fields. The line center is a key device for smart factory automation that can improve the production efficiency and the productivity. Therefore, the development of a mill-turn line center is necessary to produce high value-added products with complex shapes flexibly. In the mill-turn process, a milling process and a turning process are combined. In particular, the turning process needs to increase the rigidity of the spindle. The purpose of this study is to analyze the thermal-structural stability through thermo-structural coupled analysis for a mill-turn spindle with a curvic coupling. The maximum temperature and thermal stability of the spindle were analyzed by thermal distribution. In addition, the thermal deformation and thermal-structural stability of the spindle were analyzed through thermo-structural coupled analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-band antenna for wearable devices using metal frame coupling. The proposed antenna has a $45mm{\times}35mm$ antenna using metal frame and a ground dual coupling structure. The proposed multi-band antenna in this paper is optimized for small devices such as wearable devices. By using the metal frame as a part of the antenna, the volume of the antenna is reduced and satisfies under VSWR 3:1 impedance bandwidth of 70 MHz (870 ~ 940 MHz) in low frequency band, 280 MHz (1600 ~ 1880 MHz) and 280 MHz (1900 ~ 2170 MHz) in high frequency band. It also verified the applicability of wearable devices by measuring wireless performance indicators such as TRP/TIS.

  • In this paper, we propose a double rings structure to improve the balanced-port characteristics of Balun-Bandpass Filter(Balun-BPF). The conventional Balun-BPF has limitations on output symmetry and skirt steepness. We introduce a double rings structure and the suitable coupling point between the two ring resonators to solve these problems. The fabricated double rings Balun-BPF shows excellent characteristics as a Balun-BPF without the conventional limitations.
