  • The capability of pilot injection with small fuel quantity at all engine operating conditions is one of the main feature of the common rail direct injection system. The purpose of the pilot injection is to lower the engine noise and to reduce the NOx emissions. This study describes the pilot spray structure characteristics of the common-rail diesel injectors with different electric driving characteristics, including solenoid-driven and piezo-driven type. Namely three common-rail injectors with different electric current wave were investigated in this study. The pilot spray characteristics such as spray speed, spray tip penetration, and spray angle were obtained by spray images, which is measured by the back diffusion light illumination method with optical system for high-speed temporal photography. As this research results, it was found that pilot injection of common-rail system was effected by rate of injection with different electrical characteristic for driving the injector.

바이오 디젤 혼합비에 따른 커먼레일 인젝터의 분사 및 내구특성에 관한 실험 연구 (An Experimental Study on Injection and Durability Characteristics of Common-rail Injector According to mixture Ratio of Bio-diesel)

  • An object of this study is to understand the correlation of injection characteristics and injector dimensions according to biodiesel mixture. The Injection characteristics of different types of common-rail injectors are the number of nozzle holes (5~8), jet cone angle ($146^{\circ}{\sim}153^{\circ}$), hydraulic flow rate (830~900 ml/min) injection quantity and response time. Prior to characteristic experiment, the reference injector has been selected in 6 candidates injectors under the investigation of injected quantity according to the biodiesel mixture so that injector type can be determined. The injector is used for the characteristic experiment which varied the various operating conditions including pressure 23 MPa, 80 MPa, 160 MPa, changing in injection duration 0.16 ms~1.2 ms and even mixture ratio. The result shows that the nozzle hole number and cone angle influence the injection quantity much more than nozzle hole diameter at low injection pressure and the nozzle hole diameter at high injection pressure, post injection duration.

  • 고압 인젝터의 성능은 디젤 연소엔진의 동력, 배출물, 연료소모와 직접적인 관계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 솔레노이드 코일과 피에조 세라믹으로 구동되는 커먼레일 디젤 분사용 인젝터의 응답 특성을 AMESim 코드를 사용하여 상대 비교 연구를 수행하였다. 따라서 연료압력, 분공경을 주요 해석변수로 설정하였다. 본 연구를 수행한 결과, 솔레노이드 구동 인젝터에 비해 피에조 구동 인젝터가 상대적으로 더 빠른 응답성과 더 높은 제어성을 가짐을 알 수 있었으며, 특히 다단분사 적용시, 이런 결과가 매우 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 디젤엔진의 사용은 루돌프 디젤에 의하여 발명된 이후 산업의 발달을 이끌어가는 중추적인 역할을 하고 있다. 2013년 기준으로 국내의 디젤엔진의 차량은 7,395,739대이다. 디젤엔진에서의 인젝터는 엔진의 구동에 직접적인 역활을 수행하기 때문에 성능향상에 대한 연구는 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구는 운행 중인 디젤차량의 매연의 농도와 인젝터 클리닝 전 후의 관계를 비교분석하기 위하여 인젝터 클리닝 전 후의 매연의 농도를 KD147 모드("운행차 수시점검 및 정기검사의 배출허용기준")로 측정하여 인젝터 클리닝이 매연 저감에 미치는 영향에 대하여 실험적으로 고찰하였다. 실험결과 인젝터 클리닝 후의 매연의 농도가 20% 이상 감소하는 것을 확인하였으며 매연의 농도의 감소율은 매연의 발생량이 클수록 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.

직접구동 피에조 인젝터의 CRDi 단기통 디젤엔진 연소 특성 분석 (Analysis on Combustion Characteristics of CRDi Single-cylinder Diesel Engine with Direct Needle-driven Piezo Injector)

  • In this study, experimental approaching method was applied under and single-cylinder engine to research the performance of direct needle-driven piezo injector (DPI) for CR direct-injection. As key-point factor of this DPI that relies on direct-acting operating of injector needle, unlike conventional hydraulic-servo, its nozzle needle can be directly driven by piezo actuator. Thus, effect of direct-acting injection of DPI on diesel combustion and emission characteristics was investigated under common-rail single-cylinder direct-injection engine, equipped with three different driving mechanism, including indirect-acting solenoid, piezo and DPI system. As main results, it found that a direct-acting piezo injector has higher of IMEP. And it has higher heat release rate during premixed combustion and mixing controlled combustion phase due to its higher heat release, even though nitrogen oxide (NOx) formations were increased slightly.

  • 이 연구에서는 Quantitative Feedback Theory(QFT) 기법을 이용한 승용디젤엔진의 커먼레일 압력제어 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 커먼레일 압력모델의 입력과 출력은 각각 Pressure Control Valve(PCV) 구동전류와 커먼레일 압력으로 정의하였고, Metering Unit(MeUn)이 커먼레일 압력에 미치는 영향은 모델 파라미터 불확실성으로 정의하였다. QFT 기법은 이러한 모델의 불확실성에 대하여 강건하면서도 정량적 요구사항을 만족할 수 있는 제어알고리즘 설계방법을 제시한다. 제안된 커먼레일 압력제어기는 목표 레일압력 추종성능과 안정성능이 확보되었으며, 인젝터에 의한 연료분사가 커먼레일 압력에 미치는 영향을 줄이기 위하여 외란제거성능(Disturbance Rejection)이 고려되었다. 설계된 제어 알고리즘은 엔진 동력계 실험을 통하여 검증하였으며, MeUn 구동전류와 연료분사량의 급격한 변화에 따른 제어알고리즘의 강건성과 외란제거성능을 검증하였다.

  • In order to meet stringent future emission regulations, especially to reduce Particulate Matter (PM) and NOX, stoichiometric diesel combustion technology with a piezo group-hole nozzle injector is being researched for reduction harmful emissions. A new nozzle layout, namely a group-hole nozzle, which has one group of small orifices with a wide spray included angle was investigated to improve the efficiency of stoichiometric diesel combustion. From this point of view, the group-hole nozzle suggested by Dense Co. is an attractive candidate method applicable to stoichiometric diesel combustion. The group-hole nozzle concept is to reduce the injector nozzle hole diameters without sacrificing spray penetration by closely locating two holes. Experimental studies have proven that the spray from group-hole nozzles have similar spray penetration to that of a single hole with equivalent overall nozzle hole area, but the spray drop sizes (SMD) are reduced, aiding vaporization and mixing.

커먼레일을 이용한 디젤과 BD20 연료가 인젝터에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on Injector Durability Test with Diesel and BD20 Using Common Rail)

  • The characteristics of diesel and biodiesel are similar like as cetane number and auto-ignition temperature. High cetane number of diesel and BD could make possible to compression ignition. but BD showed different atomization from diesel due to component like density, viscosity and iodine value etc. Because of this, the biodiesel requires validation. This study using diesel and BD20 investigated effect to durability injector. Durability test were used common rail and bosch solenoid type 5-hole injector. Total test was 672hr but actual running time was 200hr. Spray experiments for spray characteristics were carried out using constant volume combustion chamber. Spray characteristics of diesel and BD showed different result up to durability test time. After 100hr, diesel showed spray shapes were stable but BD was not. After 200hr, difference of diesel and BD spray shapes were grow serious.

  • A Common-Rail Direct Injection (CRDI) system for high speed diesel engines was developed to meet reductions of noise and vibration, emission regulations. High pressure in the common rail with electric control allows the fuel quantity and injection timing to be optimized and controlled throughout a wide range of engine velocity and load conditions. In this study, CRDI system analysis model which includes fuel and mechanical systems was developed using commercial software, AMESim in order to predict characteristics for various fuel injection components. The parameter sensitivity analysis such as throttle size, injection rate, plunger displacement, supply pressure of fuel injection for system design are carried out.
