Recently. VR( Virtual Reality) applications such as virtual studio and virtual character are wifely used In TV programs. and AR( Augmented Reality) applications are also belong taken an interest increasingly. This paper introduces a virtual screen system. which Is a new AR application for broadcasting. The virtual screen system is a real-time video augmentation system by tracking a chroma-patterned moving panel. We haute recently developed a virtual screen system.'K-vision'. Our system enables the user to hold and morse a simple panel on which live video, pictures of 3D graphics images can appear. All the Images seen on the panel change In the correct perspective, according to movements of the camera and the user holding the panel, in real-time. For the purpose of tracking janet. we use some computer vision techniques such as blob analysis and feature tracking. K-vision can work well with any type of camera. requiring no special add-ons. And no need for sensor attachments to the panel. no calibration procedures required. We are using K-vision in some TV programs such as election. documentary and entertainment.
Three-dimensional continuum modeling of dynamic soil-pile-structure interaction embedded in a liquefiable sand was carried out. Finn model which can model liquefaction behavior using effective stress method was adopted to simulate development of pore water pressure according to shear deformation of soil directly in real time. Finn model was incorporated into Non-linear elastic, Mohr-Coulomb plastic model. Calibration of proposed modeling method was performed by comparing the results with those of the centrifuge tests performed by Wilson (1998). Excess pore pressure ratio, pile bending moment, pile head displacement-time history according to depth calculated by numerical analysis agreed reasonably well with the test results. Validation of the proposed modeling method was later performed using another test case, and good agreement between the computed and measured values was observed.

In this paper, we propose a fast and accurate method of extracting lens array lattice in integral imaging by using an appropriate calibration pattern image and fast median filtering. In order to extract the lattice of a lens array, vertical and horizontal edge images are required. To extract edge images, the well-known previous method used separable median filters. However, this method is slow and difficult to determine the median filter size. In order to overcome this problem, we try to improve speed by calculating median value through binary counting method. In addition, we propose a calibration pattern image that detects edges well and improves the accuracy. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is superior to the existing method in extracting the lattice of a lens array in integral imaging.

In this paper, we present an overall algorithm for real-time camera parameter extraction which is one of key elements in implementing virtual studio. The prevailing mechanical methode for tracking cameras have several disadvantage such as the price, calibration with the camera and operability. To overcome these disadvantages we calculate camera parameters directly from the input image using computer-vision technique. When using zoom lenses, it requires real time calculation of lens distortion. But in Tsai algorithm, adopted for camera calibration, it can be calculated through nonlinear optimization in triple parameter space, which usually takes long computation time. We proposed a new method, separating lens distortion parameter from the other two parameters, so that it is reduced to nonlinear optimization in one parameter space, which can be computed fast enough for real time application.

This paper presents a 3D face modeling method using a CCD camera and a projector (LCD projector or Slide projector). The camera faces the human face and the projector casts white stripe patterns on the human face. The 3D shape of the face is extracted from spatial and temporal locations of the white stripe patterns on a series of image frames. The proposed method employs region segmentation and multi-beam techniques for efficient 3D modeling of hair region and faster 3D scanning respectively. In the proposed method, each image is segmented into face, hair, and shadow regions, which are independently processed to obtain the optimum results for each region. The multi-beam method, which uses a number of equally spaced stripe patterns, reduces the total number of image frames and consequently the overall data acquisition time. Light beam calibration is adopted for efficient light plane measurement, which is not influenced by the direction (vertical or horizontal) of the stripe patterns. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides a favorable 3D face modeling results, including the hair region.

LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) data acquired from ALS(Airborne Laser Scanner) has been intensively utilized to reconstruct object models. Especially, researches for 3D modeling from LiDAR data have been performed to establish high quality spatial information such as precise 3D city models and true orthoimages efficiently. To reconstruct object models from irregularly distributed LiDAR point clouds, sensor calibration, noise removal, filtering to separate objects from ground surfaces are required as pre-processing. Classification and segmentation based on geometric homogeneity of the features, grouping and representation of the segmented surfaces, topological analysis of the surface patches for modeling, and accuracy assessment are accompanied by modeling procedure. While many modeling methods are based on the segmentation process, this paper proposed to extract key points directly for building modeling without segmentation. The method was applied to simulated and real data sets with various roof shapes. The results demonstrate feasibility of the proposed method through the accuracy analysis.

This paper describes an idea for determining self-localization using visual landmark. The critical geometric dimensions of a pentagon are used here to locate the relative position of the mobile robot with respect to the pattern. This method has the advantages of simplicity and flexibility. This pentagon is also provided nth a unique identification, using invariant features and colors that enable the system to find the absolute location of the patterns. This algorithm determines both the correspondence between observed landmarks and a stored sequence, computes the absolute location of the observer using those correspondences, and calculates relative position from a pentagon using its (ive vortices. The algorithm has been implemented and tested. In several trials it computes location accurate to within 5 centimeters in less than 0.3 second.

In this paper, we propose a tracking and recognition of pedestrian/vehicle for intelligent multi-visual surveillance system. The intelligent multi-visual surveillance system consists of several fixed cameras and one calibrated PTZ camera, which automatically tracks and recognizes the detected moving objects. The fixed wide-angle cameras are used to monitor large open areas, but the moving objects on the images are too small to view in detail. But, the PTZ camera is capable of increasing the monitoring area and enhancing the image quality by tracking and zooming in on a target. The proposed system is able to determine whether the detected moving objects are pedestrian/vehicle or not using the SVM. In order to reduce the tracking error, an improved camera calibration algorithm between the fixed cameras and the PTZ camera is proposed. Various experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed system.

Remote gaze tracking system calculates the gaze from captured images that reflect infra-red LEDs in cornea. Glint is the point that reflect infra-red LEDs to cornea. Recently, remote gaze tracking system uses a number of IR-LEDs to make the system less prone to head movement and eliminate calibration procedure. However, in some cases, some of glints are unable to spot. In this case, it is impossible to calculate gaze. This study examines patterns of glints that are difficult to detect in remote gaze tracking system. Afterward, we propose an algorithm to reconstruct positions of missing glints that are difficult to detect using other detected glints. Based on this algorithm, we increased the number of valid image frames in gaze tracking experiments, and reduce errors of gaze tracking results by correcting glint's distortion in the reconstruction phase.

An image acquisition by using an optical mirror is called as a catadioptric method. The catadioptric imaging method is generally used for acquisition of 360-degree all directional visual information in an image. An exemplar omnidirectional optical mirror is the bowl-shaped hyperbolic mirror. In this paper, a single camera omnidirectional stereo imaging method is studied with an additional concave lens. It is possible to obtain 3 dimensional coordinates of environmental objects from the omnidirectional stereo image by matching the stereo image having different view points. The omnidirectional stereo imaging system in this paper is cost-effective and relatively easy for correspondence matching because of consistent camera intrinsic parameters in the stereo image. The parameters of the imaging system are extracted through 3-step calibration and the performance for 3-dimensional coordinates reconstruction is verified through experiments in this paper. Measurable range of the proposed imaging system is also presented by depth-resolution analysis.
