• Comics is a medium that characters lead a story as words are combined with pictures. Despite characters are simple and exaggerated fictive ones, readers empathize with personality of the character through outer appearance of face and clothes, expression, behavior lines etc. Personality of a character is established by the author or story writer of the comics. Basically, established personality must be maintained through the comics without being broken. To establish personality of a character, understanding of human personality is important. One method for the foregoing is to refer to the framework used for analyzing human personality. As for personality type by blood type, it is considered that there is a specific type of personality according to blood type, and human personality is analyzed by four blood types of A, B, AB and O. Personality type by blood type is convenient to access in the way that it is easy and simple without complexity. The process of establishing personality of a character may be easier by referring to the personality according to blood type. Kishimoto Masashi, the author of the comics is establishing blood types for each character. This study aims to analyze personality depending on the blood types and relations according to blood types among of main and surrounding characters appearing in . As for research methods, this study, first, analyzed how blood type is related to personality in 'the relation between blood type and personality'. Second, this study analyzed blood type and personality in 'personality by blood type of characters in comics '. Third, in the 'personality and relations according to the blood types of characters in the comics ', this study analyzed personality and relations according to the blood type by using a 'caring relationship' which is a like-minded relation according to the blood type. Relations that this study analyzed include '1) Relation between team manager and team member in a team Naruto is belonging', '2) Naruto's eternal triangle and family relations', '3) Naruto's teacher-pupil relations and team manager relation', '4) Main rivalries in ' and '5) change in Naruto and Sasuke's relationship from adversarial to cooperator relationship'. From the relations according to blood types between personality and character established by the author, it is possible to infer that the author referred to the personality of each blood type. Like this, establishing personality of characters and making relations among characters based on the personality type by blood type may be one of useful methods for creating a story.

  • This paper presents novel segmentation and transition techniques for dancing motion synthesis. The segmentation method for dancing motions is based on Laban Movement Analysis (LMA). We assume a dance sequence as a set of small dancing motions. To segment a dancing motion is a subjective, psychological, and complex problem, so we extract the shape factor of LMA from a dance motion and observe shape's changes to find the boundaries of dance segments. We also introduce a transition method that meets constraints on the feet. This method that is based on a linear interpolation modifies the intermediate posture motion after analyzing footprint positions. The posture could be a key-frame between source motion and target motion on the transition. With the proposed techniques, it would be easy for multimedia applications to generate plausible dance motions.

  • Satirical cartoon features figure characters that liken to particular figures or social phenomenon to satirize particular figures or social phenomenon. Through the words and actions of figure characters in satirical carton, fraudulentact of man in power or irrational social phenomenon is revealed. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) female agent that is the figure character of this study has been appearing in satirical cartoon for a long time and it likens to social phenomenon instead of a actual figure. The reason why the NIS female agent has been appearing as a figure character in satirical cartoon for a long time is because related social phenomenon has not ended and is still in progress. In addition, the reason why it likens to social phenomenon instead of an actual figure is based on the fact that it is not easy to identify her face that has been hidden, which makes it difficult to exaggerate the characteristic of the figure. Her hidden face is also an expression of the desire to hide that is symbolized by baseball cap and muffler. Her hidden face and the desire to hide make it easy to substitute to other related figure or social phenomenon instead of actual figure. Namely, outward appearance of the NIS female agent has a good condition for combining 'added significance' in satirical cartoon. Irrelevant to actual NIS female agent, a satirical cartoon figure of NIS female agent is being combined with various meanings when needed and it is substituted as another figure, group or social phenomenon as the actual figure disappears. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to reveal the role of figure character in satirical cartoon by symbolically analyzing the figure character that appears in satirical cartoon as 'NIS female agent'. The followings were revealed through the symbolic analysis of figure character in satirical cartoon in this study. First, satirical cartoon satirizes social phenomenon. • In animation, 'laughter' is an important factor for the fun. Dreamworks' animation is a successful popular animation. It has four series and spin-off animations, and settled as a successful case that created fun with strategic use of parody throughout the productions. Most preceding studies on this animation have focused on its humor, parody, and satire. However, not many studies have discussed its independent comedy as a piece of animation that satisfies the needs of public. This study considered that viewers' desire to watch an animation comes from their fantasies to discuss the comedy of based on its animated characters. Animated characters communicate with the public with wits that ignore the rules of reality. The characters that do not exist in reality are created and animated to turn the world of reality upside down. The comedy in comes from the entertaining deformation of the society's fixed ideas and prejudices. It is a fun variation of the ideology behind fairy tales created by the Disney animations to challenge Disney in the animation market in reality, and twisted the world of fairy tales in the story to quench the thirst of the public. 'Shrek', a monstrous character, stands in the center of the story. A monstrous character that always played an anti-role has become the main character to break the rule of fairy tales. This is the subjectivation of anti-character. Second, it is a new anti-character with an exaggerated and distorted body. Lord Farquad, who looks abject compared to the monstrous character for a person with so much power and ambition, brings laughter. Third, it is the variation of various characters from fairy tales. The conventional fairy tale characters, both animals and non-living things, come out of the box and appear as humorous characters that bring life to the story. uses comedy characters in the process of reinterpreting the fixed ideas, prejudices, and ideologies of the real world created by fairy tales. I hope that it helps Korean animations establish a successful format for creating characters that bring life to the stories.

  • The development of technology in traditional media is affecting a variety of ways. In particular, the influence of digital images, the animation turned to a realistic 3D animation. With the release of realistic 3D animation , Robert Zemeckis received much attention but the audience did not like the animation of this style gradually. Robert Zemeckis gave up 3D animation after that drew attention for having a huge production budget while failing at a record-setting proportion in the American box-office. A digital actor in realistic 3D animation looks like real but the audience know that it is not real and they know that realistic 3D animations and live-action movies are different. So the audience will experience an emotional conflict like confusion, hesitation. The visual completion in realistic 3D animation is due to the development of technology and technology must develop to connect the audience acceptance and movie.

  • The purpose of this study is to quantitatively and empirically investigate whether cartoon-realism, which is referred to as a guideline for avoiding the uncanny valley phenomenon, is actually effective. An experiment was carried out to investigate whether or not methods that try to realistically express the texture of human skin while making 3D models whose outward appearance abstract like a cartoon actually reduce the negative sentiments associated with the uncanny valley phenomenon. The results found that when human skin textures were applied to cartoon-type 3D models, the degree of eeriness significantly increased (p<0.05), while there was no change in the degree of human likeness. When cartoon-style skin textures were applied to human-type 3D models, there was no significant difference in the degree of eeriness, but the degree of human likeness significantly decreased (p<0.05). These results show that, cartoon realism is not actually effective, and rather creates a perceptual conflict and induces the uncanny valley phenomenon. The results of this study are expected to be used as quantitative and empirical data for developing design guidelines that will overcome the uncanny valley phenomenon in the future.
