  • This paper deals with a 3D-pose (orientation and position) estimation problem of a circular object in 3D-space. Circular features can be found with many objects in real world, and provide crucial cues in vision-based object recognition and location. In general, as a circular feature in 3D space is perspectively projected when imaged by a camera, it is difficult to recover fully three-dimensional orientation and position parameters from the projected curve information. This paper therefore proposes a 3D pose estimation method of a circular feature using a coplanar point. We first interpret a circular feature with a coplanar point in both the projective space and 3D space. A procedure for estimating 3D orientation/position parameters is then described. The proposed method is verified by a numerical example, and evaluated by a series of experiments for analyzing accuracy and sensitivity.

  • Object tracking in a real time image is one of interesting subjects in computer vision and many Practical application fields during the past couple of years. But sometimes existing systems cannot find all objects by recognizing background noise as object. This paper proposes a method of object detection and tracking using adaptive background image in real time. To detect object which is not influenced by illumination and to remove noise in background image, this system generates adaptive background image by real time background image updating. This system detects object using the difference between background image and input image from camera. After setting up Minimum Bounding Rectangle(MBR) using the internal point of detected object, the system tracks object through this MBR In addition, this paper evaluates the test result about performance of proposed method as compared with existing tracking algorithm.

  • Recently, there have been many researches to automate processing and analysing image data in medical field, due to the advance of image processing techniques, the fast communication network and high performance hardware. In this paper, we design and implement the system based on the multi-layer neural network model to be able to analyze, differentiate and count blood cells in the peripheral blood image. To do these, we segment red and white-blood cell in blood image acquired from microscope with CCD(Charge-coupled device) camera and then apply the various feature extraction algorithms to classify. In addition to, we reduce multi-variate feature number using PCA(Principle Component Analysis) to construct more efficient classifier. So, in this paper, we are sure that the proposed system can be applied to a pathological guided system.

  • Non-intrusive methods based on active remote IR illumination for eye tracking is important for many applications of vision-based man-machine interaction. One problem that has plagued those methods is their sensitivity to lighting condition change. This tends to significantly limit their scope of application. In this paper, we present a new real-time eye detection and tracking methodology that works under variable and realistic lighting conditions. eased on combining the bright-pupil effect resulted from IR light and the conventional appearance-based object recognition technique, our method can robustly track eyes when the pupils are not very bright due to significant external illumination interferences. The appearance model is incorporated in both eyes detection and tracking via the use of support vector machine and the mean shift tracking. Additional improvement is achieved from modifying the image acquisition apparatus including the illuminator and the camera.

  • Recently as AR(Augmented Reality) is focus of attention, AR is applied to various fields and is expected its valuable use. In this paper, we implemented the system based on Goblin XNA which supports high resolution model file and higher AR. We confirmed the relation of model output among the number of marker, the location and changes of camera distance. And we produced the infantile studying contents using AR and embodied. In implemented contents, we showed the familiar character to infants on each page marker. As the result of it, we can raise their concentration and at a time studying supporters can use the contents easily as well. Also we put 3 marker on each page of contents to recognize it smoothly in case one part of it is hidden by any obstacle. Finally we maximized the learning effect such as presence and immersion in studying through reinforcing 3D models according to the every situation.

  • In this paper, we implement a wheeled mobile robot that accurately and autonomously finds the optimal route from the starting point to the destination point based on computer vision in a complex indoor environment. We get a number of waypoints from the starting point to get the best route to the target through deep reinforcement learning. However, in the case of autonomous driving, the majority of cases do not reach their destination accurately due to external factors such as surface curvature and foreign objects. Therefore, we propose an algorithm to deepen the waypoints and destinations included in the planned route and then correct the route through the waypoint recognition while driving to reach the planned destination. We built an autonomous wheeled mobile robot controlled by Arduino and equipped with Raspberry Pi and Pycamera and tested the planned route in the indoor environment using the proposed algorithm through real-time linkage with the server in the OSX environment.

  • To support anti-collision between ship to ship and sea-search and sea-rescue work, ship automatic identification system(AIS) that can both send and receive messages between ship and VTS Traffic control have been adopted. And port control system can control traffic vessel service which is co-operated with AIS. For more efficient traffic vessel service, ship recognition and display system is required to cooperated with AIS. In this paper, we propose ship detection system which is co-operated with AIS by using background estimation based on image processing for on the sea or harbor image extracted from camera. We experiment with on the sea or harbor image extracted from real-time input image from camera. By computer simulation and real world test, the proposed system show more effective to ship monitoring.

  • In the stereo vision system, information about an object could be gained by searching through images. Edges which are based on the information about an object are used to find the position of the object and send a message of its position coordinate to a unmanned crain. This thesis proposes an algorithm to find the center point of the object's surface which is connected to the unmanned crain's arm, and to recognize the shape of the object by using two CCD cameras. At first, getting information about the edges, and distinguishing each edge's characteristics depend on user's option, and then find the location information by a set of positions that are proposed. This thesis is expected to be devoted to the development of an automation system of unmanned moving equipment.

  • As factory automation is getting popular, there has been a lot of research concerned with stereo vision systems as a part of an automation system with unmanned moving equipment. In the stereo vision system, information about an object could be gained by searching through images. Edges which are based on the information about an object are used to find the position of the object and send a message of its position coordinate to a unmanned crain. This thesis proposes an algorithm to find the center point of the object's surface which is connected to the unmanned crain's hookblock, and to recognize the shape of the object by using two CCD cameras. At first, getting information about the edges, and distinguishing each edge's characteristics depend on user's option, and then find the location information by a set of positions that are proposed. • In this paper, a study on facial movements are analyzed in terms of opposite emotion stimuli by image processing of Kinect facial image. To induce two opposite emotion pairs such as "Sad - Excitement"and "Contentment - Angry" which are oppositely positioned onto Russell's 2D emotion model, both visual and auditory stimuli are given to subjects. Firstly, 31 main points are chosen among 121 facial feature points of active appearance model obtained from Kinect Face Tracking SDK. Then, pixel changes around 31 main points are analyzed. In here, local minimum shift matching method is used in order to solve a problem of non-linear facial movement. At results, right and left side facial movements were occurred in cases of "Sad" and "Excitement" emotions, respectively. Left side facial movement was comparatively more occurred in case of "Contentment" emotion. In contrast, both left and right side movements were occurred in case of "Angry" emotion.
