Objectives: This study was conducted to examine the effectiveness in oral health promotion through oral health education for freshmen students of the dental hygiene department. Methods: To verify its effectiveness, research was conducted on 74 freshmen of the dental hygiene department by the evaluation of DMFT index, PHP index, and Cariview test (2015-2016). Results: The analysis of the test results using Cariview equipment shows a categorization of low risk group consisting of 10 students (13.5%), middle risk group consisting of 47 students (63.5%), and a high risk group consisting of 17 students (22.9%). DT index according to the number of daily tooth brushing by <2 is DT index average score higher and in such a case, statistics are considered meaningful (p<0.01). Oral health state at DMFT index of low risk group according to Cariview risk group for an analysis is lower than both the middle risk group and the high risk group (p<0.001). Conclusions: A review of the effect of the promotion of oral health through oral health education on the behavior change rather than of Cariview test and value of dental plaque through tooth brushing method was conducted.

The instrument for satisfaction of education was adapted from Kim and Go and partly modified. The instrument was categorized into dental hygiene department satisfaction(6 questions), major satisfaction(6 questions), facilities satisfaction(4 questions), lecture satisfaction(7 questions), and faculty satisfaction(4 questions). The instrument was scored by Likert 5 scale. Cronbach alpha of education satisfaction was 0.928 in the study. Results: Extroverted students showed 3.70 point which was the highest score in the department satisfaction(p<0.001). Less neurotic students showed 3.68 point which was the highest score in the department satisfaction(p<0.001). There was a strong positive correlation between the major satisfaction and department satisfaction(p<0.01). The personality types that affected the education satisfaction were related to the extroverted students and less neurotic students(p<0.01). Conclusions: The personality types had much influences on the satisfaction of the major and academic accomplishment.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore and analyze experiences with home-visiting oral health education in vulnerable populations and to provide foundational data necessary for the development of preventive strategies for oral health promotion among these patients. Methods: Using a phenomenological research, in-depth interviews were conducted between August 29 and October 31, 2023 with 20 vulnerable individuals participating in the Home Visit Oral Health Education Program under the Gwangju+ Gwangsan Integrated Care Service project spearheaded by the Gwangju Medical Welfare Cooperative. The purpose of this study was to examine the health segment of the 7th national physical education curriculum in an effort to grasp the state of oral health education in the school curriculum. And it's also meant to investigate the relationship between oral health education and the oral health awareness of some high schoolers to check into any possible problems with oral health education as part of health education. The subjects in this study were 240 students from two different girls' high schools in Seoul, on whom a survey was conducted to find out their oral health knowledge, behavior and awareness. And the health category of the current P.E. curriculum announced by the Ministry of Education was analyzed. The findings of the study were as follows: Oral health education provided by the high schools as part of health education in P.E. class wasn't linked to P.E. theories and practice. The weight of oral health education was extremely small in the health segment, and there was no sequence, continuity and integration among the content systems of oral health education for different grades. When some high schoolers were investigated, they weren't properly oral health conscious, though it was very important for students to receive oral health education to prevent and manage dental diseases. And they didn't consequently take care of their own oral health. Future research efforts should be channeled from diverse angles into developing oral health education curriculums to bolster school oral health education to improve national oral health.
Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate extracurricular program needs according to the learning styles of dental hygiene students, and to develop and organize non-subject programs that strengthen student competencies. Methods: The subjects in this study were dental hygiene students from three colleges located in Chungbuk, Chungnam, and Ulsan, respectively. The survey tools were composed of learning style, a non-subject field, and non-subject teaching and learning methods. Lastly, 313 data points were analyzed. Results: Learning styles of subjects were as follows: assimilators, divergers, convergers, and accommodators, at 44.6%, 33.0%, 16.0%, and 6.4%, respectively. Preference of the non-subject field, according to learning style, showed that accommodators were higher than divergers on startup, and the difference was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). Preference of non-subject teaching and learning methods, according to learning style, shows that both divergers and convergers prefer special lectures, while assimilators prefer tours, and convergers prefer experience/exercise. The results had achieved statistical significance (p<0.05). Conclusions: This study shows that dental hygiene students had different learning styles, and their learning methods varied depending on learning style. Therefore, a method should be identified to develop and run non-subject programs suitable for each learning style.

Objectives: This study was conducted to understand the effect of learners' self-determination on class participation, focusing on the feedback type of educators. Methods: A survey was conducted from May 1 to May 31 2021 on dental hygiene students, and a total of 151 valid responses were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics, self-determination, class participation, and educator's feedback type. The analysis method used correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: In relation to self-determination, class participation, and feedback type of educators, self-determination was positive feedback (r=0.338, p<0.01), class participation was corrective feedback (r=0.418, p<0.01), and positive feedback was correction (r=0.742, p<0.01). As a result of the mediating effect of the educator's feedback type in the relationship between self-determination and class participation, it was found to be significant by partially mediating positive and corrective feedback. Conclusions: It was found that the right to self-determination influences class participation based on positive feedback and corrective feedback of educators. It relates to efforts to strengthen learners' self-determination and provide appropriate types of feedback from educators.
