일부 외국인 여성의 구강보건지식, 구강보건행태, 구강건강문해력의 융합적 관계 (Convergent relationship between oral health knowledge, oral health behavior, oral health literacy in Some Foreign Women)

  • 본 연구는 외국인 여성의 구강건강문해력을 측정하여 구강보건지식, 구강보건행태와 구강건강문해력의 연관성을 알아보고자 한다. 연구대상자는 2018년 6월~2018년 9월 까지 경북 일부 지역의 외국인 여성 248에게 설문지 조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과는 언어적 구강건강문해력은 나이, 교육수준, 한국거주기간에서, 기능적 구강건강문해력은 결혼유무, 교육수준, 한국거주기간에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 외국인 여성의 구강건건강문해력을 증진시키기 위해서는 구강보건지식과 구강 보건행태를 변화 시킬 수 있는 효율적인 구강건강프로그램이 개발되어야 하겠다.

치위생(학)과 남학생 전공만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting on Major Satisfaction of the Male Students in Department of Dental Hygiene)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 치위생(학)과에 재학 중인 남학생들의 학과적응과 진로만족도가 전공만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하여, 남학생의 진로지도 개발 및 전공만족도를 향상시킬 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하기 위함이다. 대상자는 서울, 강원도, 경상도에 소재한 4개 대학의 치위생학(과)에 재학 중인 남학생 102명을 편의 추출하였다. 연구 취지에 동의한 93명의 남학생을 대상으로 2019년 9월부터 10월까지 약 4주간 웹사이트를 이용해 자기기입식 설문조사를 수행하였다. 남학생의 전공만족도 전체 평균은 5점 만점에서 3.32점, 학과적응은 3.48점, 진로만족도는 3.08로 나타났다. 학과적응과 진로만족도가 전공만족도에 미치는 영향을 검증하기 위하여 다중 회귀분석을 실시한 결과 독립 변수인 학과적응(β=0.410)과 진로만족도(β=0.457)는 전공만족도에 유의미한 양의 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다(p<0.001).

치위생학교육평가·인증체계 정립을 위한 학습성과기반 치위생 핵심역량에 관한 조사 (A study on core competence of dental hygiene based on learning outcomes for establishing dental hygiene education evaluation and certification system)

  • 치위생학교육평가·인증체계 정립을 위한 학습성과기반 치위생 핵심역량을 파악하고자 치위생(학)과 전임교수 207명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 핵심역량별 세부영역에서 전문가적 행동 및 윤리적 의사결정 능력(1영역)과 과학적이고 전문적인 임상치위생과 임상치과업무의 지식과 기술을 적용할 수 있는 능력(2영역)의 전체 점수가 가장 높게 나타났고, 의사소통 능력 정도(3영역)는 4.48점, 근거중심의 통합적 사고와 문제해결 능력 정도(5영역)는 4.35점으로 나타났다. 핵심역량 세부영역들은 강한 상관관계가 있는 것을 확인하여 보건의료서비스 직종간의 핵심역량 파악과 임상 실무현장에 근무하고 있는 치과위생사들의 핵심역량에 대한 질적 연구가 필요하다고 사료된다.

치매 노인의 구강건강관리실태 및 문제점에 관한 질적 연구 (A qualitative study on the present conditions and problems of oral health care in senile dementia patients)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the present conditions and problems of oral health care in senior citizens with dementia using a qualitative research method, through focused group interviews. Methods: Data was collected for approximately one month from May 2019. The subjects were divided into two groups: care workers and family caregivers. Fifteen participants were included in the study. Results: In-depth interviews with the care workers revealed the following three categories: characteristics of senile dementia patients, oral health care in senile dementia patients, and oral health care education. In-depth interviews with the family caregivers revealed the following four categories: characteristics of senile dementia patients, oral health care in senile dementia patients, oral health care education, and burden of care. The central themes common to both the care workers and family caregivers were the challenges owing to the characteristics of senile dementia patients, poor health condition of the senile dementia patients, difficulty in oral health care of the senile dementia patients, the desire to receive oral health care education and related information, and to access the information more easily. Additional central themes specific to the care workers were, the applicability of the intervention programs, variability between the facilities, and the problems of oral health care education. An additional central theme specific to the family caregivers was the burden of care. Conclusions: It is necessary to provide oral health care education and information to care workers and family caregivers of senile dementia patients, and to manage and support the dental health professionals ready to care for senile dementia patients. In addition, support to the family caregivers should not be limited only to the financial aspects, but also consider the psychological and emotional difficulties.

PBL기반의 치과의료커뮤니케이션 교육과정을 통한 일부 치위생학과 학생들의 치위생 의사소통 역량수준 평가에 대한 사례연구 (A Case Study on the Level of Communication of Dental Hygiene Students after Completing a PBL-Based Dental Communication Curriculum)

  • Background: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate changes in the communication capabilities of dental hygiene students after completing a problem based learning (PBL) dental communication curriculum. With this information, we intend to gather the basic data necessary to stress the need for and value of an education in communication regarding dental hygiene. Methods: PBL-based education was provided to a total of 49 third-year dental hygiene students who took the dental communication class taught by the Department of Dental Hygiene at S University during the 2nd semester of 2020. The relevant self-evaluation was modified, based on the aim of the present study, to refer to three basic key competencies related to the communication capabilities of dental hygienists. An assessment of dental communication competency was conducted by analyzing the changes in self-evaluations before and after completing the course, for each question, using a paired t-test. The statistical significance level was set at p < 0.05. Results: Analysis of core competencies before and after PBL-based dental communication education indicated that all competencies were significantly improved after education (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Dental hygiene students' dental communication skills increased significantly after completing PBL-based dental communication education. Therefore, a PBL-based dental communication curriculum is effective in improving dental communication skills for dental hygiene students.

노인의 구강건강상태에 따른 고령친화식품 섭취 차이 (Differences in Intake of Elderly-Friendly Foods according to Oral Health Status of the Elderly)

  • 인구 고령화에 따라 고령친화식품에 대한 수요가 커지고 있다. 이 연구는 노인의 구강건강상태에 따른 고령친화식품 섭취 실태를 분석하여 구강건강수준에 맞는 식품 개발에 기초자료를 제공하고자 수행하였다. 제7기 국민건강영양조사의 건강설문, 구강검진, 영양조사 자료를 이용하여 노인의 고령친화식품 단계별 구강건강상태와 영양 섭취 실태를 복합표본분석방법으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 75세 이상의 고령자일수록(p=0.013), 저소득과 고소득 양극단에서(p=0.008) 고령친화식품의 3단계 섭취자가 유의하게 많아 상대적으로 혀로 섭취할 수준의 무른 음식을 주로 먹는 것으로 나타났고, 의치를 보유하거나(p=0.024, 0.008) 임플란트를 보유하지 않은 경우(p=0.003)에서 고령친화식품의 3단계 섭취자가 유의하게 많았으며, 저작불편 등 주관적 지표보다 보철물 보유 등과 같은 객관적 지표에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 또한 영양소에 따라 고령친화식품 3단계 섭취자가 전반적으로 영양소 기준보다 적게 섭취하고 있었다. 고령친화식품의 3단계를 주로 섭취하는 노인은 구강건강수준과 영양상태가 매우 취약한 것으로 보인다. 따라서 고령친화식품 개발 시 노인의 구강건강상태 및 적절한 영양소를 고려한 다양한 식품 개발과 체계적인 교육이 필요하다.

치위생(학)과 학생을 위한 치위생윤리 교과목 콘텐츠 개발에 대한 연구 (Development of contents for dental hygiene ethics subjects for dental hygiene students)

  • Background: This study aimed to create and present content that can be used in the dental hygiene ethics process to help dental hygiene students develop desirable work ethics and ethical values. Methods: In order to operate the dental hygiene ethics course in all academic systems, one three-year dental hygiene professor and one four-year dental hygiene professor participated in setting core competencies and learning goals for the dental hygiene ethics course. The class consisted of two credits, two hours of theoretical classes, and class activity sheets developed according to the learning contents and learning topics for each week that can be operated for 15 weeks. Results: The contents of the dental hygiene ethics subject were developed to be conducted as theoretical education and case-oriented discussion classes. The 15-week class consisted of a theory lecture on dental hygiene work ethics (eight weeks), discussions and presentations for ethical decisions based on actual cases related to dental hygiene ethics (four weeks), and the design and presentation of individual professional mission statements and codes of conduct (three weeks). The class data for each week consisted of four stages: "Learning goal-thinking," "open-thinking," "learning content-thinking," and "according to learning goal." Conclusions: In order to establish desirable workplace ethics and ethical values for dental hygiene students, it is necessary to approach education in a way that values understanding and application of dental hygiene practices, legal and ethical standards, ethical decision-making models, and ethical principles.

요양보호사의 노인 구강건강관리 실천도 연구 : 노인 구강건강관리 교육과 행위 필요도의 매개효과 (Care workers' practices in oral healthcare for the elderly : mediating role of elderly oral healthcare education and behavioral needs)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to assess the impact of care workers' knowledge of elderly oral health, education on elderly oral healthcare and behavioral needs, awareness of elderly oral healthcare, and actual practices in elderly oral healthcare. Furthermore, it explores the mediating effects of elderly oral healthcare education and behavioral needs on the relationship between awareness and practice. Methods: Data were collected from October 11 to December 29, 2023, from 172 certified care workers employed in nursing hospitals and other workplaces. For analyzing the data, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression were conducted using SPSS Statistics 21.0. Results: Elderly oral health knowledge, education and behavioral needs, awareness, and practice were significantly higher among: those aged 51 years and older, female, primarily working in nursing hospitals, with a total career span of 10 years, higher job satisfaction, in organizations prioritizing elderly oral healthcare, and with superior education in elderly oral health. Elderly oral healthcare education and behavioral needs had partial mediating effects on the relationship between care workers' awareness and practice of elderly oral healthcare. Conclusions: The current practices and challenges in care workers' oral healthcare for the elderly will be analyzed, and recommendations and strategies for improving practices will be formulated.

치과 외래 치료에서 항생제 처방에 영향을 주는 요인 - 한국 국민건강보험 표본코호트 연구 - (Factors affecting antibiotic prescription in dental outpatients - A nation-wide cohort study in Korea -)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors affecting antibiotic prescription in dental outpatients. Methods: The present study was conducted using data from the National Health Insurance Service - National Sample Cohort. We analyzed prescriptions issued in the dental outpatient department in 2015, for adults over 19 years of age. Antibiotic prescription rates and mean prescription days were analyzed by sex, age, insurance type, presence of diabetes mellitus and hypertension, season in treatment, type of dental institution, and location of dental institution. Multivariate logistic regression was also performed to analyze the factors affecting antibiotic prescription in dental outpatients. Results: A total of 257,038 prescriptions were analyzed. The mean prescription days of antibiotics in dental outpatients were $3.04{\pm}1.08days$, and the prescription rate was 93.0%. Two variables (presence of diabetes mellitus and insurance type) were excluded from the multivariate logistic regression analysis model because they did not significantly affect antibiotic prescription. The possibility of antibiotic prescription was higher in men ${\geq}61years$ of age and those with hypertension. Furthermore, antibiotics were most frequently prescribed in dental clinics rather than dental hospitals, and more frequently in Busan compared to other areas (p<0.001). Conclusions: Several factors were determined to affect antibiotic prescription, and detailed guidelines for consistent antibiotic prescription are needed.
