  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among dementia knowledge, attitude and care burden of nurses in center for dementia. A total of 101 nurses in center for dementia filled out the structure questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients. The mean score of dementia knowledge was $18.14{\pm}1.09$ out of 20, and the mean of dementia attitude, care burden were $153.07{\pm}.76$ out of $266, 8.01{\pm}7.09$ out of 64 respectively. There was a significant correlation between care burden and dementia attitude(r=.25, p<.05) and dementia knowledge(r=-.32, p<.001). The results suggest that it is necessary to provide continuos education and support to improve dementia knowledge and change dementia attitude positively of nurses in order to reduce care burden of nurses in center for dementia.

  • Purpose: This research was conducted to identify the effects of providing support programs to families of elderly with dementia on family empowerment and attitudes toward dementia. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pre- and post-test design was used. Participants were 49 family caregivers, experimental (24) and control (25), recruited from families through a dementia support center in Y district. This program implemented Haearim, a support program for family caregivers of demented elders developed by the National Institute of Dementia in 2016. Outcome measures were empowerment and attitudes toward to dementia. Data were analyzed with a ${\chi}^2-test$, independent t-test, Fisher's exact probability test, paired t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA with SPSS/PC version 20.0. Results: Family empowerment (F=6.84, p=.002) and family caregivers' attitudes (F=16.48, p<.001) toward dementia in the experimental group improved significantly more than that of the control group after intervention. Conclusion: Results indicate that support programs for families of elderly with dementia are effective in positively changing empowerment and attitudes toward dementia among family caregivers.

  • As the prevention of dementia is more important than the treatment after the onset, attention has focused on the prevention of dementia in the elderly. For this study based on 11 integrated programs, we analyzed the domestic research trends of dementia prevention programs for the elderly from 2000 to 2018 in the study of Yang Su-gyeong, Ko Bo-sook, and Park Jeong-hwan (2019) We reviewed the literature research on the elderly's dementia prevention program centered on play. By activity type, music, language, and physical activity were 4 (40.0%), respectively, and games, art, and work were 3 (30.0%), respectively. Dance, literature, traditional play, and recreation were 2 (20.0%), and yoga and life were 1 (10.0%), respectively. In this study, for the purpose of exploring the possibility of using the contents of early childhood education in the elderly dementia prevention program, play shows very positive aspects such as physical exercise ability, positive emotions, and emotional characteristics for the elderly. It is considered that if dementia prevention programs are developed using the contents of early childhood education for the elderly, they will be able to utilize leisure time positively while providing continuous services and maintaining group experiences and mental health.

  • The purpose of this study is to find that people's visit to a dementia home exhibition hall is effective at improving their perception of dementia. The satisfaction of visitors to the dementia home exhibition hall and a change in their perception of dementia after the visit were analyzed. The study subjects were 52 residents in S city. This study had been conducted from April, 5 to May, 25, 2018. The dementia home exhibition hall has welfare kits installed in an entrance, a rest room, a living, and a kitchen. Virtual reality experience program and the program of wearing clothes to experience an elderly person were performed together. As a result, the visitors' satisfaction was high overall, and their visit was educationally effective at improving their perception of dementia. After their visit to the hall, the residents showed high increases in the scores of the questions about the perception of dementia causes, dynamism & system, symptoms & diagnosis, and treatment & prevention. The residents with middle years and higher of age were more satisfied than those in other age groups with the introduction of dementia, and prevention methods, introduction of safe and comfortable home environment, and appropriateness of experience program. In this study, it was positive that the differentiated experience program which was not existed actively led the participation of the target person and attracted high education satisfaction in a short time. In the future, it will be necessary to develop an extended experience program, provide an environment for direct experience of dementia, and perform a continuous program to draw more citizens' attention.

Significant correlations were found between cognitive ability and performance of ADL, between quality of life and cognitive ability, and between cognitive ability and performance of ADL (p<.001). Moreover, quality of life of elderly with dementia was greatly affected by cognitive ability and performance of ADL (p<.01). Therefore, it is believed that more active therapeutic interventions and studies are needed from sociophysical aspect of elderly with dementia. • This research is a descriptive study that aimed to identify the knowledge and attitude of dementia, empathy, and social distance from elderly with dementia of social welfare students and the effect these had on their social distance from elderly with dementia. This study was conducted by collecting 191 social welfare students in three universities in C and D cities. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, ANOVA, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression with the SPSS 23.0 program. The average social distance from elderly with dementia was 3.40 points. The social distance from elderly with dementia of the study participants showed a positive correlation between the attitude of dementia(r=.47, p=.001) and empathy(r= .27, p<.001). According to the results of multiple regression analysis, attitude of dementia(β=.21, p=.001), and empathy(β=.37, p<.001) were shown to be significant factors that affected the social distance from elderly with dementia. These variables explained 36.5%. Therefore, an education program to improve the ocial distance from elderly with dementia of social welfare students should be considered as a way to enhance positive attitude of dementia and empathy.

Attitudes toward dementia in caregivers differed significantly depending on their age, motivation of job. Attitudes also had a positive correlation with dementia knowledge and empathy. The most significant preditors of attitudes were empathy, job of motivation and age. These factors explained 33.0% of the variance for attitudes toward dementia.
