  • There is a growing emphasis on objective and quantified performance measurement methodologies for the interactions that occur within modern companies. This is due to the importance of establishing and practicing future-oriented strategies by estimating the present value of the company and the current energy status through objective evaluation of the company. Therefore, the selection of KPI as a performance index using BSC (Balance Scorecard), which is a recent objective performance measurement methodology, has become very important. Although many studies on existing KPIs have been made in various industries, KPI studies on SI companies have been insufficient. This study focuses on finding KPIs applicable to SI companies. The study on the KPI design system according to general strategy of SI companies and the development of methodology and evaluation index according to index development for each group were carried out and the weighting methodology according to each evaluation index was presented.

  • Growing worldwide interests in walking are increasing and walking surveys and measuring walking projects are becoming more popular. By the way, we do not have the general survey method on walking yet. The lacks of pedestrian walking features lead to underestimate walking population and the social importance of walking. To solve this problem, Walk21 and Pedestrian Quality Needs projects have tried to build the international standardization in methodology of measuring walking. This study suggests indicator system of the measuring walking and models on the measuring walking proposed by the international measuring walking projects. In addition, we reviewed global governance of those projects and several cases related to the measuring walking. This paper will contribute to domestic walking surveys for participating actively in the ongoing international standardization methodology of walking.

  • As the importance of interface became emphasized recently, function of icon as an element that helps operation and formative function as an aesthetic element are becoming emphasized. Specially, various research methodologies for measuring the understanding degree of users are being attempted in functional aspect, however, they are facing limitations as user evaluation method of quantitative investigation for statistical analysis became overly dependent on the consent from majority. To overcome such limitation, a methodology of measuring sensibility as aesthetic impression or individuality based on the system of emotion or system of understanding of users and designing icon based on the measurement is being attempted continuously. Therefore, this study suggested an evaluation method using reminding words and conducted an empirical study to apply results on the icon design by applying the evaluation method on icon design of printing products to measure the user sensibility and understanding level. Through this process, this study intended to research summaries on the design evaluation method which based on the evaluation of user sensibility and understanding level and to debate effective design methodologies through the process of applying these summaries on the project. The intention was to progress discussion from practical application perspectives apart from the textbook type discussion by applying a research methodology through concrete cases. This study objectified sensibility and understanding level of users in the icon design aspect, suggested a methodology that can be applied on the design, and it is expected to be used when progressing the icon and GUI design.

  • Clusters can provide scalable and flexible architectures for parallel computing servers and data centers. Their performance prediction has been a very challenging issue. Existing performance measurement methodologies are able to measure the performance of servers already constructed. Thus they cannot provide a way to predict the overall system performance in advance when designing the system at the initial phase or adding more nodes for more capacity. Therefore, the performance modeling and prediction methodology for large-scale clusters is highly required. In this paper, we suggest a methodology to predict the performance of large-scale clusters, which consists of measurement, modeling and prediction steps. We apply the methodology to a real cluster server and show its usefulness.

  • This paper introduces and applies the World Bank's methodology for constructing composite index or aggregating indicators. After recalculating the world competitiveness index of IMD using Unobserved Component Model(UCM) we compare it with the existing index and try to find some implications. We also try to construct the composite index for measuring the performance of local finance. We employ the Principal Component Analysis(PCA) for validating the appropriateness of selected indicators used in making the composite index. We found that the UCM and PCA are very useful and will be used widely in various evaluations such as regional development, local finance, local competitiveness and public enterprise, etc.

  • We introduce a new performance evaluation methodology that helps programmers evaluate different tuning alternatives in order to improve program performance. This methodology permits measuring performance implications of using tuning alternatives. Specifically, the methodology predicts performance after workload migration for a distributed or parallel program in contrast to traditional performance methodlogies that quantify time spent in program components for bottleneck identification. The methodology thus provides guidance on workload migration. The methodology also permits predicting the performance impact of changing the underlying network. The methodology may evaluate performance incrementally and online during the execution of the program to be tuned. We show that our methodology, when it is implemented and used, permits accurately predicting the performance of different tuning alternatives for a test suite of six programs.

  • We introduce a family of simulators for I/O-intensive distributed or parallel applications, and a methodology that permits selecting the most efficient simulator meeting a given user-defined accuracy requirement. This methodology consists of a series of tests to choose an appropriate simulation based on the attributes of the application. In addition, each simulator provides two estimates of application execution time: the minimum expected time and the maximum. We present the results of applying our methodology to existing applications, and show that we can accurately simulate applications tens to hundreds of tunes faster than the application execution times.

  • There is a growing interest in computer based learning system that can learn a new concept of epistemic frames in response to the demands of $21^{st}$ century Skills. However, there is little research on the theoretical models for the epistemic frames applicable in the changing educational environment and the measurement theories (Psychometric theory, Learning Analytics) that can be evaluated. Therefore, in this study, we propose the core elements of the learning system prototype that can educate the epistemic frames in the practical community. Furthermore, this study explores and suggests an appropriate psychometric measurement theory (learning analytics) that allows us to measure, infer, and evaluate a learner.
