The complex resistivity method is an exploration technique that can obtain various characteristic information of underground media by measuring resistivity and phase in the frequency domain, and its utilization has recently increased. In this paper, a three-dimensional inversion algorithm for the CR data was developed to increase the utilization of this method. The Poisson equation, which can be applied when the electromagnetic coupling effect is ignored, was applied to the modeling, and the inversion algorithm was developed by modifying the existing algorithm by adopting comlex variables. In order to increase the stability of the inversion, a technique was introduced to automatically adjust the Lagrangian multiplier according to the ratio of the error vector and the model update vector. Furthermore, to compensate for the loss of data due to noisy phase data, a two-step inversion method that conducts inversion iterations using only resistivity data in the beginning and both of resistivity and phase data in the second half was developed. As a result of the experiment for the synthetic data, stable inversion results were obtained, and the validity to real data was also confirmed by applying the developed 3D inversion algorithm to the analysis of field data acquired near a hydrothermal mine.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of noise-filtering earplugs on the hearing ability of dentists wearing them during noise-induced dental procedures. Pure tone audiometry and distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) tests were conducted at the initial visit and 1 year later to evaluate the hearing ability of the participants. As a result of the study, the pure tone average of the group wearing earplugs decreased significantly compared to the group not wearing earplugs, indicating an improvement in hearing. However, the signal-to-noise ratio of the DPOAE tests did not show a significant difference. These findings suggest that noise-filtering earplugs may have some effectiveness in preventing hearing loss. However, since the 1-year observation period may not be adequate to identify changes in hearing, a follow-up study with an extended follow-up period is necessary.

With the outbreak of COVID-19 a few years ago, video conferencing and electronic document work have increased, and for this reason, the proportion of computer work among modern people's daily routines is increasing. However, as more and more people work on computers in the wrong posture for a long time, the number of patients with poor eyesight and text neck is increasing. Until recently, many studies have been published to correct posture, but most of them have limitations that users may experience discomfort because they have to correct posture by wearing equipment. A posture correction sensor algorithm is proposed to prevent access to the minimum distance between a computer monitor and a person using an ultrasonic sensor device. At this time, an algorithm for minimizing false alarms among warning alarms that sound at the minimum distance is also proposed. Because the ultrasonic sensor device is used, posture correction can be performed without attaching a device to the body, and the user can relieve discomfort. In addition, experimental results showed that accuracy can be improved by reducing false alarms by removing more than half of the noise generated during distance measurement.
An acoustic vector sensor can simultaneously receive vector quantities, such as particle velocity and acceleration, as well as acoustic pressure at one location, and thus it can be used as a single input multiple output receiver in underwater acoustic communication systems. On the other hand, vector signals received by a single vector sensor have different channel characteristics due to the azimuth angle between the source and receiver and the difference in propagation angle of multipath in each component, producing different communication performances. In this paper, we propose a channel parameter-based weighting method to improve the performance of an acoustic communication system using a single vector sensor. To verify the proposed method, we used communication data collected from the experiment conducted during the KOREX-17 (Korea Reverberation Experiment). For communication demodulation, block-based time reversal technique which is robust against time-varying channels were utilized. Finally, the communication results showed that the effectiveness of the channel parameter-based weighting method for the underwater communication system using a single vector sensor was verified.
Recently, the application of distributed acoustic sensors (DAS), which can replace geophones and seismometers, has significantly increased along with interest in micro-seismic monitoring technique, which is one of the CO2 storage monitoring techniques. A significant amount of temporally and spatially continuous data is recorded in a DAS monitoring system, thereby necessitating fast and accurate data processing techniques. Because event detection and seismic phase picking are the most basic data processing techniques, they should be performed on all data. In this study, a machine learning-based P, S wave phase picking algorithm was developed to compensate for the limitations of conventional phase picking algorithms, and it was modified using a transfer learning technique for the application of DAS data consisting of a single component with a low signal-to-noise ratio. Our model was constructed by modifying the convolution-based EQTransformer, which performs well in phase picking, to the ResUNet structure. Not only the global earthquake dataset, STEAD but also the augmented dataset was used as training datasets to enhance the prediction performance on the unseen characteristics of the target dataset. The performance of the developed algorithm was verified using K-net and KiK-net data with characteristics different from the training data. Additionally, after modifying the trained model to suit DAS data using the transfer learning technique, the performance was verified by applying it to the DAS field data measured in the Pohang Janggi basin.
In this study, we aimed to perform a comparative evaluation using quantitative factors between a region-growing based segmentation with noise reduction algorithms and a U-Net based segmentation. Initially, we applied median filter, median modified Wiener filter, and fast non-local means algorithm to computed tomography (CT) images, followed by region-growing based segmentation. Additionally, we trained a U-Net based segmentation model to perform segmentation. Subsequently, to compare and evaluate the segmentation performance of cases with noise reduction algorithms and cases with U-Net, we measured root mean square error (RMSE) and peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), universal quality image index (UQI), and dice similarity coefficient (DSC). The results showed that using U-Net for segmentation yielded the most improved performance. The values of RMSE, PSNR, UQI, and DSC were measured as 0.063, 72.11, 0.841, and 0.982 respectively, which indicated improvements of 1.97, 1.09, 5.30, and 1.99 times compared to noisy images. In conclusion, U-Net proved to be effective in enhancing segmentation performance compared to noise reduction algorithms in CT images.

This paper proposes a low-power 8-bit asynchronous SAR ADC with a sampling rate of 1 MS/s for sensor node applications. The ADC uses bootstrapped switches to improve linearity and applies a VCM-based CDAC switching technique to reduce the power consumption and area of the DAC. Conventional synchronous SAR ADCs that operate in synchronization with an external clock suffer from high power consumption due to the use of a clock faster than the sampling rate, which can be overcome by using an asynchronous SAR ADC structure that handles internal comparisons in an asynchronous manner. In addition, the SAR logic is designed using dynamic logic circuits to reduce the large digital power consumption that occurs in low resolution ADC designs. The proposed ADC was simulated in a 180-nm CMOS process, and at a 1.8 V supply voltage and a sampling rate of 1 MS/s, it consumed 46.06 𝜇W of power, achieved an SNDR of 49.76 dB and an ENOB of 7.9738 bits, and obtained a FoM of 183.2 fJ/conv-step. The simulated DNL and INL are +0.186/-0.157 LSB and +0.111/-0.169 LSB.

The digital phase-locked loop(DPLL) is one of the circuits composed of a digital detector, digital loop filter, voltage-controlled oscillator, and divider as a fundamental circuit, widely used in many fields such as electrical and circuit fields. A state estimator using various mathematical algorithms is used to improve the performance of a digital phase-locked loop. Traditional state estimators have utilized Kalman filters of infinite impulse response state estimators, and digital phase-locked loops based on infinite impulse response state estimators can cause rapid performance degradation in unexpected situations such as inaccuracies in initial values, model errors, and various disturbances. In this paper, we propose a two-layer Frobenius norm-based finite impulse state estimator to design a new digital phase-locked loop. The proposed state estimator uses the estimated state of the first layer to estimate the state of the first layer with the accumulated measurement value. To verify the robust performance of the new finite impulse response state estimator-based digital phase locked-loop, simulations were performed by comparing it with the infinite impulse response state estimator in situations where noise covariance information was inaccurate.

Purpose: The Wide Beam Reconstruction (WBR) algorithms that UltraSPECT, Ltd. (U.S) has provides solutions which improved image resolution by eliminating the effect of the line spread function by collimator and suppression of the noise. It controls the resolution and noise level automatically and yields unsurpassed image quality. The aim of this study is WBR of whole body bone scan in usefulness of clinical application. Materials and Methods: The standard line source and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) reconstructed spatial resolution measurements were performed on an INFINA (GE, Milwaukee, WI) gamma camera, equipped with low energy high resolution (LEHR) collimators. The total counts of line source measurements with 200 kcps and 300 kcps. The SPECT phantoms analyzed spatial resolution by the changing matrix size. Also a clinical evaluation study was performed with forty three patients, referred for bone scans. First group altered scan speed with 20 and 30 cm/min and dosage of 740 MBq (20 mCi) of $^{99m}Tc$-HDP administered but second group altered dosage of $^{99m}Tc$-HDP with 740 and 1,110 MBq (20 mCi and 30 mCi) in same scan speed. The acquired data was reconstructed using the typical clinical protocol in use and the WBR protocol. The patient's information was removed and a blind reading was done on each reconstruction method. For each reading, a questionnaire was completed in which the reader was asked to evaluate, on a scale of 1-5 point. Results: The result of planar WBR data improved resolution more than 10%. The Full-Width at Half-Maximum (FWHM) of WBR data improved about 16% (Standard: 8.45, WBR: 7.09). SPECT WBR data improved resolution more than about 50% and evaluate FWHM of WBR data (Standard: 3.52, WBR: 1.65). A clinical evaluation study, there was no statistically significant difference between the two method, which includes improvement of the bone to soft tissue ratio and the image resolution (first group p=0.07, second group p=0.458). Conclusion: The WBR method allows to shorten the acquisition time of bone scans while simultaneously providing improved image quality and to reduce the dosage of radiopharmaceuticals reducing radiation dose. Therefore, the WBR method can be applied to a wide range of clinical applications to provide clinical values as well as image quality.

This paper presents a fully digital gain control system with a new high bandwidth and wide dynamic range power detector for DVB-S2 application. Because the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of DVB-S2 system is so high and the settling time requirement is so stringent, the conventional closed-loop analog gain control scheme cannot be used. The digital gain control is necessary for the robust gain control and the direct digital interface with the baseband modem. Also, it has several advantages over the analog gain control in terms of the settling time and insensitivity to the process, voltage and temperature variation. In order to have a wide gain range with fine step resolution, a new AGC system is proposed. The system is composed of high-bandwidth digital VGAs, wide dynamic range power detectors with RMS detector, low power SAR type ADC, and a digital gain controller. To reduce the power consumption and chip area, only one SAR type ADC is used, and its input is time-interleaved based on four power detectors. Simulation and measurement results show that the new AGC system converges with gain error less than 0.25 dB to the desired level within $10{\mu}s$. It is implemented in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The measurement results of the proposed IF AGC system exhibit 80-dB gain range with 0.25-dB resolution, 8 nV/$\sqrt{Hz}$ input referred noise, and 5-dBm $IIP_3$ at 60-mW power consumption. The power detector shows the 35dB dynamic range for 100 MHz input.
