A Study on On-The-Job Training Effects Based on the Perceptions of Employees from the Specialized High School (특성화 고교 출신 취업자의 인식에 기초한 현장 실습 효과 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data necessary to improve the planning and operations for an effective on-the-job training (OJT) by analyzing educational effects and deciding on a career for employment (DCE) effects of OJT based on the perceptions of employees from the specialized high school (SHS). The survey was performed with 301 employees who are working in the industrial institutions including the OJT, among the nation's specialized technical high school graduates. 240 questionnaires were analyzed. The major results of this study are as following. First, the effects of OJT are as following. The OJT have educational effects such as the improvement of job ability and adaptability to workplace, refinement of working life, and career guidance. However, the OJT almost don't have educational effects for contents in relation to the majors in SHS. The OJT had basic DCE effects on graduates, and consistently have had them since they graduated from SHS. Second, the difference of OJT effects by employees' background variables is as following. By the gender, the OJT have more educational effects and DCE effects on male than female. By the types of career decision before taking part in the OJT, the OJT has more educational effects and DCE effects on employees with a high degree of career decision. By the working life satisfaction, the higher working life satisfaction, the higher OJT effects. Therefore, the OJT should be operated to make students feel satisfied with the OJT in order to correspond with the purpose of specialized high school - cultivating talent in specific areas.

Effects of Pre-Employment Efforts of the College Graduate Youth in Korea (대졸 청년층 취업준비노력의 실태와 성과)

  • This study examines the effects of pre-employment efforts of the youth on their transition to the labor market. Labor market performance is accessed by the transitory period, the employment at workplace with more than 300 employees, and the wage level. Based on the effects of employment efforts for the first transitory period, job experience during school and preparatory period for employment would raise the likelihood of employment, but the school credit, grade in English, and the frequency of interviews, on the contrary, failed to reduce the transitory period. Employment effect varied according to educational background. In case of college graduates, vocational education and job experience during school were statistically significant variables leading them to decent jobs. On the other hand, in case of university graduates, job experience and language skills were proven to be important factors. Lastly, for the wage effect, in case of college graduates, vocational training, job experience during school, and English ability were proven to increase the wage level. However, vocational training after graduation and job experience during school decreased the wage level, but grade in English and pre-employment efforts during school increased the possibility of getting a decent, highly paid job for university graduates.

  • 대학의 취업 정책은 졸업자의 취업지원을 위해 다양한 프로그램을 준비하야 대학생 취업을 지원하고 있다. 그러나 대학의 취업정책의 의도, 추진 성과, 준비성 등과 대학생이 인지하는 만족도, 효용성 등 부문에서 일부 차이를 보이고 있다. 이는 정책의 효과에도 문제가 있지만 정책 추진의 효율성도 떨어져 예산 낭비로 이어지고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 대학 취업 정책의 효율성과 효과성을 높이기 위해 대학 정책에 대한 대학생의 인지도, 활용도, 만족도 등을 분석하여 대학 정책의 수정을 제시하고 있다.

Employment and Wage Effects of the Duration of Leave of Absence from College (대학 휴학기간의 취업 및 임금효과)

  • This paper estimates the employment and wage effects of the duration of leave of absence for job preparation activities and the duration of leave of absence due to economic difficulties by using the first wave of the Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey of 2009 (2009GOMS1). The employment probability and wage increase by 1.6 percentage points and 4.0 percentage, respectively, with a month of the duration of leave for job preparation activities. The employment probability and wage decrease by 3.6 percentage points and 7.2 percentage, respectively, with a month of the duration of leave due to economic difficulties.

Discrimination Experience and Employment of People with Developmental Disabilities: Moderating Effect of Family Employment Support (발달장애인의 차별경험이 취업에 미치는 영향: 가족취업지지의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to present practical implications for employment of people with developmental disabilities by analyzing the moderating effect of family employment support in the relationship between discrimination experience and employment of people with developmental disabilities. The subjects of the study were 394 people with developmental disabilities who participated in the 2nd wave 4th survey of the 2019 Employment Panel Survey for the Disabled, and a hierarchical binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to verify the hypothesis. As a result of the study, it was found that the experience of discrimination among people with developmental disabilities negative effects employment, and family employment support has a significant moderating effect, strengthening the negative effect of discrimination on employment. Therefore, the importance of improving the working environment reflecting the needs of families with developmental disabilities, the necessity of employment support policies, and strengthening trust with the state and local communities were discussed.

The Gender Difference in the Longitudinal Effect of Employment on Depressive Symptoms among Older Adults (노년기 취업이 우울에 미치는 종단적 영향의 성차)

  • The goal of this study was to examine the association between employment and depressive symptoms among older adults in Korea, including analysis of potential gender differences. Using a sample of Korean adults aged 60 years or older from the 2008(Time 2) and 2010(Time 3) national longitudinal survey data from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing, we regressed measures of depressive symptoms at Time 3 on employment at Time 2 (and employment both at Time 2 and Time 3), controlling for Time 2 depressive symptoms, subjective physical health, and sociodemographic variables as well. First, there was no evidence that older adults with a job at Time 2 had significantly lower levels of depressive symptoms at Time 3 compared to their counterparts. However, multi-group analyses showed that the effect of employment at Time 2 on depression at Time 3 differed by gender. For older men, employment predicted better mental health over time. However, this was not the case for older women. As such work role provided benefits only for older men. Second, older adults with a job at both Time 2 and Time 3 reported significantly lower levels of depressive symptoms at Time 3 than older adults who did not have a job either at Time 2 or Time 3. However, only older men who were employed at both Time 2 and Time 3 reported significantly less depression than their counterparts. These findings suggest that the mental health effects of employment are contingent on gender.

Influence of Parent Attachment on Internet Addiction: Mediating Effect of Job-seeking Stress (대학생들의 부모애착이 인터넷 중독에 미치는 영향: 취업스트레스의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of job-seeking stress between parent attachment and internet addiction. A total of 202 college students participated in this study. The mediating effect was analyzed through SPSS Macro and bootstrapping analysis. As a result of analysis, first, parent attachment had a significant negative effect on the job-seeking stress and internet addiction. Second, job-seeking stress had significant mediating effect within the relationship of parent attachment and internet addiction. Third, job-seeking anxiety had significant mediating effect within the relationship of parent attachment and internet addiction. Therefore, if students perceive a sense of attachment from parents, decrease the chances of internet addiction. When college students job-seeking stress occurs, and if they don't feel attachment from their parents suggests that the higher the chances of internet addiction. In addition, this implication and suggestions for future research are provided.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine if entrepreneurship that can influence entrepreneurial intention affects job-getting possibility. Particularly, this author has questingly investigated if the entrepreneurship of undergraduates who are supposed to get a job influences job-getting possibility and if sex has regulating effects on job-getting possibility. According to the results, first, undergraduates' entrepreneurship influences job-getting possibility. Second, according to sex, there is difference found in the effects of entrepreneurship on job-seeking skills and job-getting possibility. In other words, sex has significant regulating effects on job-seeking skills and job-getting possibility. Third, according to the results of comparing the mean values of two groups, upper and lower groups of entrepreneurship, regarding their job-getting possibility(work ethic, occupational exploration, & job-seeking skills) in accordance with moderating variables, female undergraduates gained significantly higher mean values than male undergraduates. Based on the results, this author suggests implications and presents proposals for follow-up research.

Effect of Employment Support Program on College Student's Grit and Employment Preparation Behavior (대학생들의 그릿과 취업준비행동에 취업지원 프로그램이 미치는 효과)

  • This study confirmed the effect of the employment support program on college students' grit and employment preparation behavior, and confirmed the post-program experience, change, and need for employment support. Data from a total of 39 people who participated in the employment support program were analyzed. The employment support program was conducted for 8 weeks starting August 29, 2022. A survey were conducted before and after the program, and interviews were conducted with 8 people afterwards. Descriptive statistics and t-test were used for data analysis, and interview content was analyzed. As a result of the study, the participants' employment preparation behavior significantly increased after the employment support program was implemented. Also, the employment support program helped prepare for realistic employment and set a direction, and improved confidence in employment. Therefore, expansion of employment support programs and customized employment support to improve college students' employment capabilities are necessary.

The Effects of Job-seeking stress on Somatization Symptoms in college students: The Mediating Effects of Maladaptive Self-focused Attention and Emotion Dysregulation (대학생의 취업스트레스가 신체화 증상에 미치는 영향: 부적응적 자기초점주의와 정서조절곤란의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between job-seeking stress and somatization symptoms and to explore the mediating effects of maladaptive self-focused and emotional dysregulation in college students. The SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 were performed to analyze the path relationship between variables. First, maladaptive self-focused mediated the relationship between job-seeking stress and somatization symptoms. Emotional dysregulation mediated the relationship between job-seeking stress and somatization symptoms. Second, maladaptive self-focused and emotional dysregulation partial dual mediated the relationship between job-seeking stress and somatization symptoms. It suggests that college students with job-seeking stress tend to be maladaptive self-focused, therefore they have difficulty in emotion regulation and eventually expose somatization symptoms.
