Improvement of Dry-blasting Efficiency for Ballast used as Aggregate of Paved Track (포장궤도 골재용 도상자갈의 건식 블라스팅 효율 향상 연구)

  • On the paved track, the ballast is used as aggregate for the filling layer using the pre-packed concrete technique. The most important condition of aggregate is adhesive strength with mortar. To satisfy this condition, surface of aggregate should be cleaned by water or others. In a paved-track method to be introduced domestically, an environment-friendly dry-washing technology which will replace the water-washing method has been developed. A dry-washing method was designed to blast the crushed weight material with a diameter of 0.3~0.5mm at high pressure to peel the surface of the aggregate. The study was intended to enhance the washing efficiency of dry-blasting technology and to that end, the tests including blasting material, content of fine aggregate depending on time elapsed, content of chloride, LA abrasion rate and compressive strength were conducted to recommend the efficient washing material and the process.

  • Flexural capacity estimation test of concrete filled carbon tube (CFCT) column under the cyclic lateral load was carried out in this study. Thickness of carbon tube and winding angles of carbon fiber were chosen as test parameters and two types of column with square and circular sections were manufactured. To act axial and lateral load, three dynamic actuators were used and all specimens were made with actual size. Flexural stiffness, ability of deformation, energy dissipation capacity and ductility behavior. of CFCT column were analyzed with test data.

  • The buckling length of exterior beam-columns of the first floor in moment resisting steel frames with weak beams is uncertain when plastic hinges occur at the ends of weak beams due to seismic loads. The objective of this study is to investigate the buckling strength of concrete-filled tubular beam-columns and to suggest the reduced buckling length of them to apply to the beam-column design code. The exterior beam-columns are modelized with horizontal displacement restraint springs. Their strength and reduced buckling length are evaluated by numerical analysis.

  • The microbial immobilization media with curdlan and activated carbon which has great immobilization capacity has been developed. Characteristics of porosity and mechanical strength of this support media are dependent on manufacturing method. The support media showed the best cell immobilization performance when the ratio of curdlan and activated carbon was 30 g/L to 6 g/L in this study. The immobilization of iron-oxidizing bacteria on the supporting particles was photographed with a scanning electron microscope. Since cell concentration on the surface of supporting particle increased with the reaction time, the iron oxidation rate also increased.

Removal/Recovery of Heavy Metals Using Biopolymer (생물고분자를 이용한 중금속 제거/회수에 관한 연구)

  • Zoogloea ramigera 115, well known type of bacteria to produce slime in sewage plants, was selected for biopolymer production. The extracted biopolymer showed high uptake capacity of metals such as cadmium and zinc. Especially the fermentor broth itself showed high adsorption of metal and could be used a biosorbent without an additional separation process. Biopolymer was immobilized into beads of calcium alginate and used in a packed bed reactor for the purpose of valued metals recovery. The biopolymer showed high removal efficiencies of 80% or greater for Cu, Cd, Mn and Zn, and high stability in sorption-desorption-resorption experiments. The immobilized biopolymer systems were found to be comparable to other metal removal systems such as ion exchange resins and to be of potential industrial application value.

  • The charged particle type display have characteristics of high contrast ratio and wide viewing angle, quick response time. We used the yellow(-) and the black(+) colored particles, which is respectively addressed to the cells of upper and rear panel by using electric field. Our independent addressing method has strong points compared to the mixed particle putting method. After addressing, we packaged two panels and did aging process, and then panel is driven by matrix method of four channel electrodes. Layers of particles are controlled by height of cell barriers and needed minimum two layers. When positive voltage is applied to the upper electrode, the yellow particles with negative charge move toward the upper substrate and the black particles with positive charge move toward opposite direction.

Prediction of collection performance for a granular bed filter filled with various shapes of packing material (다양한 형상의 충전물로 채워진 충전층 집진기의 집진성능 예측)

  • Granular bed filters are widely used to remove particulate matter in flue gas and are filled with various shapes of packing material. The packing material plays an important role in determining the overall collection performance, such as pressure drop and collection efficiency. The pressure drop of a granular bed filter has been calculated using the Ergun equation, while the collection efficiency has been predicted using the log-penetration equation based on the single sphere theory. However, a prediction equation of collection efficiency for a granular bed filter filled with non-spherical packing materials has not been suggested yet. Therefore, in this study, three different shapes of packing materials (sphere, cylinder, and irregular) were prepared to propose a prediction equation. The pressure drop and collection efficiency in a granular bed filter filled with each shape of packing material were measured experimentally and compared with theoretically predicted values. We found that experimentally measured pressure drops matched well with values theoretically predicted using the Ergun equation considering the shape factor. However, experimental collection efficiencies were higher than theoretical ones predicted by the log-penetration equation using the single sphere theory. We modified the log-penetration equation by employing a shape factor and found a good relationship between experimental and theoretical collection efficiencies.

  • The purpose of this study is to obtain the fundamental fire resistance performance of engineered cementitious composites (ECC) under fire temperature in order to use the fire protection material in high-strength concrete structures. The present study conducted the experiment to simulate fire temperature by employing of ECC and investigated experimentally the explosion and cracks in heated surface of these ECC. In the experimental studies, 5 HSC specimens are being exposed to fire, in order to exami ne the influence of vari ous parameters (such as depth of layer=20, 30, 40 mm; construction method=lining and repairing type) on the fire performance of HSC structures. Employed temperature curve were ISO 834 criterion (3 hr), which are severe in various criterion of fire temperature in building structures. The numerical regressive analysis and proposed equation to calculate ambient temperature distribution is carried out and verified against the experimental data. By the use of proposed equation, the HSC members subjected to fire loads were designed and discussed.

도공층의 공극 구조와 인쇄후 잉크의 잔류거동에 관한 연구

  • 종이가 가지는 공극 특성은 종이의 광학적 특성에 지대한 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 인쇄용 지로서 사용될 때 잉크의 다공성 기질로서 잉크의 잔류 특성에도 큰 영향을 미친다. 특히 다공성 기지의 표변에 유동성이 뛰어난 물질이 가해 질 때, 이들의 유동 특성은 기질이 지 니고 있는 공극율과 공극의 분포에 따라 큰 차이를 나타내는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 공극성은 백상지의 경우 사용된 펄프의 혼합 비율과 충전제의 사용량 그리고 펄프의 고해 정도에 따라 종이의 공극울이 달라진다. 종이의 공극성이 광학적 특성과 밀접한 연관성을 지니는 것은 종이의 광산란 계수를 결정하기 때문이다. 잘 알려진 바와 같이 종이의 광산란 계수는 빛의 산란과 관계되어 백색도와 백감도에 영향을 미친다. 그러나 도공지가 인쇄 용 지로 사용 될 경우, 도공지 표면에 도피되는 영크층은 도공지가 가지고 있는 구조적 특성을 변화시킬 수 있는 제3의 요인으로 간주 될 수 있다. 결국, 인쇄가 완료된 종이의 경우 원지층, 도공층 그리고 잉크층으로 구성된다. 따라서 다양 한 공극 구조를 가지는 기질위에 잉크가 도피될 경우 기질의 공극 특성에 따라 잉크 조성분 의 침투 거동에도 많은 차이가 있을 것으로 예측된다. 잉크의 구성 요소를 살펴보면 잉크의 색상을 결정하는 안료, 단일의 각 안료 입자를 도포하여 인쇄판으로부터 종이까지 운송시키 는 기능과 인쇄기에서 잉크의 유동성을 유지하고 종이 또는 기타 피인쇄체에 전이된 후에는 건조막을 형성하는 비히클 그리고 각종 기능성 첨가제로 구성되어 있다. 동일한 성분으로 구성된 잉크를 사용하여 각각 공극성이 다른 피인쇄체 위에 인쇄 될 경우 이들 조성분의 이 동과 표면 잔류 특성에 변화가 있을 것으로 생각된다. 즉 공극성이 풍부한 기질에 도피된 잉크는 반대의 경우와 비교하여 보다 많은 조성분이 종이의 공극 속으로 침투하게 될 것이 다. 이 과정에서 특히 미세한 안료 입자의 경우 피인쇄체의 표면 공극을 채우고, 비히클의 경우 미세한 공극속으로 침투되어 경화됨으로써 피인쇄체가 지니고 있는 공극량을 감소시커 게 될 것이다. 그리고 피인쇄체의 각종 형태의 공극으로 침투된 잉크의 양에 반비례적으로 피인쇄체의 표변에 잉크가 잔류하게 될 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 여러가지 안료를 사용하여 각각 다른 공극 특성을 지니는 도공지를 제조한 후 이들이 가지는 공극 특성과 잉크의 잔류 거동에 대해 고찰해 보고자 하였다.

Flexural Behavior of Highly Ductile Cement Composites Mimicking Boundary Conditions of Shellfish Skin Layer (패류 껍질층의 경계면을 모방한 고연성 시멘트 복합재료의 휨 거동)

  • In this study, the flexural performance of Highly Ductile Cement Composites(HDCC) mimicking boundary conditions of shellfish skin layer was evaluated. To improve ductility by mimicking the boundary skin layer structure of shellfish, the method of stratification by charging between precast panels using HDCC and the method of distributing PE-mesh to the interface surface were applied. Evaluation of flexural performance of layered cement composite materials mimicking boundary conditions of shellfish skin layer resulted in increased ductility of all test specimens applied with stratified cross-section compared to typical bending test specimens. The layered method by inserting PE-mesh showed excellent ductility. This is most likely because the inserted PE-mesh made an interface for separating the layers while the HDCC pillars in the PE-mesh gave adhesion between layers.
