  • The battery charger of spacecraft has two different modes of operation respectively. One is the bus voltage regulation mode and the other is the charge current regulation mode. And also the battery discharger provide the power during eclipse mode of spacecraft. In this study, a test model of the battery charger and discharger using hi-directional converter are designed and analyzed. These Battery Charger and Discharger is introduced the modular converter method that can be added the converter modules according to the load variation.

  • 대체 에너지(태양광, 풍력등)의 전력저장 시스템으로 널리 사용되는 겔형(Gel Type) 밀폐형 연(鉛)축전지의 노화 특성 평가 및 충전회로에 관하여 연구하였다. 납 합금을 이용한 기판 주조 기술과 전해액(Gel) 배합기술이 축전기 성능과 수명을 좌우하며 또한 배터리 충전 시스템에 따른 온도 상승이 치명적인 영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 적외선 열화상 장치를 이용한 내부 열원 추적에 의해 노화정도를 측정하며 축전지 수명시험을 통해 입수한 데이터와 비교 평가하고자 한다. 현재 실험실 충방전 수명시험을 마치고 (주)코윈텍이 부안 해창 공원에 설치한 30kW급 풍력발전 시스템에 적용하여 Field Test를 시험중이다.

Charge/discharge characteristics by heat treatment condition of cathode active material LiMn$_2$O$_4$ for Li rechargeable batteries (리튬 2차 전지용 정극 활물질 LiMn$_2$O$_4$의 열처리 조건에 따른 충방전 특성)

  • We prepared LiMn$_2$O$_4$ by reacting stoichiometric mixture of LiOH.$H_2O$ and MnO$_2$ (mole ratio 1 : 1) and heating at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 24h, 36h, 48h, 60h and 70h. We obtained through X-ray diffraction that lattice parameter varied as function of heat treatment time. heated cathode active materials at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 36h, (111)/(311) peak ratio was 0.37. It expected good charge/discharge characteristics. When (111)/(311) peak ratio was 0.37, it will be that crystal structure is farmed very well. In the result of charge/discharge test When heated at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 36h, charge/discharge characteristic of LiMn$_2$O$_4$is the most property. It agree with our expectation.

  • As a fundamental experimental study for reliability improvement of lithium ion secondary battery, degradation mechanism was investigated by microscopic observation and acoustic emission monitoring. Microstructural observation of the decomposed battery after cycle test revealed mechanical and chemical damages such as interface delamination, microcrack of the electrodes, and solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). Acoustic emission (AE) signal was detected during charge and discharge of lithium ion battery to investigate relationships among cumulative count, discharge capacity, and microdamages. With increasing number of cycle, discharge capacity was decreased and AE cumulative count was observed to increase. Observed damages were attributed to sources of the detected AE signals.

  • The existing capacitor-testers could only judge the condition of capacitor is normal or abnormal, and could not inform the real characteristics of the tested capacitors. In this research, it has designed the real-time observation of the new capacitor in charge and discharge tester for showing capacitor conditions and classification through wide voltages by regular cycle-tests. And proposed the quality classification algorithm of capacitors for more simple and practical, and approve them by test.

  • Urban dynamometer driving schedule(FTP-75 mode) plays very significant role on automotive emission test, due to reference point. The overall system energy efficiency of a HEV(Hybrid Electric Vehicle) is highly dependent on the energy management strategy employed. An energy source is the heart of a HEV. In order to applicable to a vehicle component, it must be need to real world test result. But, the present state of things have numerous problems. In this paper, be studied performed based on HEV simulation software in virtual world and chassis dynamometer test in real world and the result make a comparative. Toyota Prius vehicle was adapted as a modeling and real testing to evaluate the hybrid components and energy balancing management. The point at issue is voltage and current analysis for HEV battery SOC(State of Charge), and verification for energy.

  • AC impedance of LiM $n_2$ $O_4$ and LiM $g_{0.1}$M $n_{1.9}$ $O_4$ samples have been studied at various temperature with charge-discharge test. AC impedance of LiM $n_2$ $O_4$ measured at -2$0^{\circ}C$, room temperature and 5$0^{\circ}C$ revealed that initial impedance before charge-discharge test was gradually decreased and become small by becoming law temperature. It indicates that the Li ion diffusion and the transfer resistance of the cathode are related to the temperature of cycling. Impedance at high temperature was suddenly increased because Mn dissolution and decomposition of electrolyte had been increased during cycling, compared to impedance at low temperature. Therefore, charge-discharge capacity was suddenly decreased at high but was slowly at low. In LiM $g_{0.1}$M $n_{1.9}$ $O_4$, impedance and capacity were stability at room temperature than there at 5$0^{\circ}C$, too. Initial impedance at 5$0^{\circ}C$ before charge-discharge test was small and impedance was suddenly increased during cycling than that at room temperature.ure.ure.

  • A model for the numerical simulation of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is developed for use in battery cell design, with a view to improving the performances of such batteries. The model uses Newman-type electrochemical and transfer $theories^{(1,2)}$ to describe the behavior of the lithium-ion cell, together with the Levenberg-Marquardt optimization scheme to estimate the performance or design parameters in nonlinear problems. The mathematical model can provide an insight into the mechanism of LIB behavior during the charging/discharging process, and can therefore help to predict cell performance. Furthermore, by means of least-squares fitting to experimental discharge curves measured at room temperature, we were able to obtain the values of transport and kinetic parameters that are usually difficult to measure. By comparing the calculated data with the life-test discharge curves (SB LiMotive cell), we found that the capacity fade is strongly dependent on the decrease in the reaction area of active materials in the anode and cathode, as well as on the electrolyte diffusivity.

  • In this paper, an automatic external biphasic defibrillator that removes ventricular fibrillation efficiently with a low discharging energy has been developed. The system is composed of software including a fibrillation detection algorithm and a system control algorithm, and hardware including a high voltage charging/discharging part and a signal processing part. The stability of the developed system has been confirmed through continuous charging/discharging test of 160 times and the detection capability of the real-time fibrillation detection algorithm has been estimated by applying a total of 30 various fibrillation signals. In order to verify the clinical efficiency and safety, the system has been applied to five pigs before and after fibrillation inductions. Also, we have investigated the system efficiency in removing fibrillation by applying two different discharging waveforms, which have the same energy but different voltage levels.

  • Silica- or titania-filled poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene)-based polymer electrolytes were prepared by phase inversion technique using N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and dimethyl acetamide as solvent and water as non-solvent. The polymer electrolytes were adopted to the lithium metal polymer battery using high-capacity cathode $Li[Ni_{0.15}Co_{0.10}Li_{0.20}Mn_{0.55}]O_2$ and lithium metal anode. After the repeated charge-discharge test for the cell, it was proved that the cell adopting the polymer electrolyte based on the phase-inversion membrane containing 40~50 wt% silica showed the highest discharge capacity (180 mAh/g) until 80th cycle and then abrupt capacity fade was just followed. The capacity fade might be due to the deposition of lithium dendrite on the polymer electrolyte, in which the capacity retention was no longer sustainable.
