An acoustic signal-based, tunnel-incident detection system was developed and evaluated. The system was comprised of three components: algorithm, acoustic signal collector, and server system. The algorithm, which was based on nonnegative tensor factorization and a hidden Markov model, processes the acoustic signals to attenuate noise and detect incident-related signals. The acoustic signal collector gathers the tunnel sounds, digitalizes them, and transmits the digitalized acoustic signals to the center server. The server system issues an alert once the algorithm identifies an incident. The performance of the system was evaluated thoroughly in two steps: first, in a controlled tunnel environment using the recorded incident sounds, and second, in an uncontrolled tunnel environment using real-world incident sounds. As a result, the detection rates ranged from 80 to 95% at distances from 50 to 10 m in the controlled environment, and 94 % in the uncontrolled environment. The superiority of the developed system to the existing video image and loop detector-based systems lies in its instantaneous detection capability with less than 2 s.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a machine learning-based marine drone to prevent the farming from harmful birds such as ducks. Existing drones have been developed as marine drones to solve the problem of being lost if they collide with birds in the air or are in the sea. We designed a CNN-based learning algorithm to judge harmful birds that appear on the sea by maritime drones operating by autonomous driving. It is designed to transmit video to the control PC by connecting the Raspberry Pi to the camera for location recognition and tracking of harmful birds. After creating a map linked with the location GPS coordinates in advance at the mobile-based control center, the GPS location value for the location of the harmful bird is received and provided, so that a marine drone is dispatched to combat the harmful bird. A bird fighting drone system was designed and implemented.

This paper describes on the extraction of ship's real-time movement information using a combination full-function ARPA radar and ECS system that displays radar images and an electronic chart together on a single PC screen. The radar target extractor(RTX) board, developed by Marine Electronics Corporation of Korea, receives radar video, trigger, antenna bearing pulse and heading pulse signals from a radar unit and processes these signals to extract target information. The target data extracted from each pulse repetition interval in DSPs of RTX that installed in 16 bit ISA slot of a IBM PC compatible computer is formatted into a series of radar target messages. These messages are then transmitted to the host PC and displayed on a single screen. The position data of target in range and azimuth direction are stored and used for determining the center of the distributed target by arithmetic averaging after the detection of the target end. In this system, the electronic chart or radar screens can be displayed separately or simulaneously and in radar mode all information of radar targets can be recorded and replayed In spite of a PC based radar system, all essential information required for safe and efficient navigation of ship can be provided.

This paper proposes a time slot allocation scheme for military patrol environments. This proposal comes from analysis of traffic properties in a military patrol environment. In the near future, robots are expected to explore enemy grounds and measure threat, taking the place of human patrol. In order to control such robots, control messages must be extremely accurate. One mistake from the control center could cause a tragedy. Thus, high reliability must be guaranteed. Another goal is to maintain a continual flow of multimedia data sent from patrol robots. That is, QoS (Quality of Service) must be guaranteed. In order to transmit data while fulfilling both attributes, the per-path based centralized TDMA slot allocation scheme is recommended. The control center allocates slots to robots allowing synchronization among robots. Slot allocation collisions can also be avoided. The proposed scheme was verified through the ns-3 simulator. The scheme showed a higher packet delivery ratio than the algorithm in comparison. It also performed with shorter delay time in the downlink traffic transmission scenario than the algorithm in comparison.

The multi robot operation technique has emerged as one of the most important research subjects that focus on minimizing redundancy in space exploration and maximizing the efficiency of operation. For an efficient operation of the multi robot systems, the movement of each Single robot in the multi robot systems should be properly observed and controlled. This paper suggests Multi Robot Management System to minimize redundancy in space exploration by assigning exploration space to each robot efficiently to take advantage of the RFID. Also, this paper has suggested fault tolerance technique that detects disable Single robot and substitute it by activated Single robot in order to ensure overall exploration and improve efficiency of exploration. Proposed system overcomes previous fault that it is difficult for central server to detect exact position of robot by using RFID system and Home Robot. Designated Home robot manages each Single robot efficiently and assigns the best suited space to Single robot by using RFID Tag Information. Proposed multi robot management system uses RFID for space assignment, Localization and Mapping efficiently and not only maximizes the efficiency of operation, but also ensures reliability by supporting fault-tolerance, compared with Single robot system. Also, through simulation, this paper proves efficiency of spending time and redundancy rates between multi robot management applied by proposed system and not applied by proposed system.

Purpose: This paper conducts IoT and CCTV-based safety monitoring to analyze accidents and potential risks occurring at construction sites, and detect and analyze risks such as falls and collisions or abnormalities and to establish a system for early warning using devices like a walkie-talkie and chatbot service. Method: A safety management service model is presented through smart construction technology case studies at the construction site and review a relevant literature analysis. Result: According to 'Construction Accident Statistics,' in 2021, there were 26,888 casualties in the construction industry, accounting for 26.3% of all reported accidents. Fatalities in construction-related accidents amounted to 417 individuals, representing 50.5% of all industrial accident-related deaths. This study suggests implementing AI chatbot services for construction site safety management utilizing IoT-based health monitoring technologies in smart construction practices. Construction sites where stakeholders such as workers participate were demonstrated by implementing an artificial intelligence chatbot system by selecting major risk areas within the workplace, such as scaffolding processes, openings, and access to hazardous machinery. Conclusion: The possibility of commercialization was confirmed by receiving more than 90 points in the satisfaction survey of participating workers regarding the empirical results of the artificial intelligence chatbot service at construction sites.

In this paper, a DS (Data Synchronization) server for mobile communication environments is constructed and the suitability and the performance of its operations are validated. The DS server provides a way to update the newest data and keep data consistency for clients (mobile devices). In addition, the DS server constructed in this paper supports various synchronization types, and detects all changes and conflicts. In case of data conflicts, the DS server resolves the conflicts according to the several policies implemented in this work. The DS server conforms to the OMA(Open Mobile Alliance) DS standard protocol for interoperability with other mobile devices and servers. In addition to the transmission-by record scheme proposed by the OMA DS standard protocol, the DS server constructed in this paper also provides the transmission-by field scheme for the enhancement transmission performance between the server and clients. In order to validate its operations, data synchronization between the DS server and the SCTS (SyncML Conformance Test Suit), the suitability validation tool provided by the OMA, is performed. The validation results show that the DS server constructed in this paper satisfies all of the test cases except the Large Object function. The Large Object function will be implemented later because the function is not needed for the personal information synchronization process which this paper aims for. Also, synchronization times of the DS server are measured while increasing the number of data and clients. The results of the performance evaluations demonstrate that the DS server is scalable, in the sense that it has not suffered from any serious bottlenecks with respect to the number of data and clients. We expect that this work will provide a framework for various studies in the future for improving mobile DS operations.
