  • A silicon microaccelerometer is designed and fabricated using silicon epitaxial layers for automotive electronic airbag applications. A cantilever structure is chosen for high sensitivity and piezoresistive detection method is adopted for circuit simplicity and low cost. An optimum design is used to find optimum microstructure sizes for maximum sensitivity subject to performance requirements and design constraints on natural frequency, damping ratio, maximum allowable stress and microfabrication limitations. The microaccelerometer is fabricated by micromachining processing steps, composed of material-selective and orientation-dependent chemical etching techniques. Fabricated prototype shows a sensitivity of 88.6$\mu\textrm{V}$/g within a resonant frequency of 1.75KHz. Estimated performance of the microaccelerometer is compared with measured one. Discrepancy between the theoretical values and the experimental values is discussed together with possible sources of the errors.

  • In this Paper, the moving image is detected by a collision preventive system. The noise of these images is reduced by a mean filter. In case of detecting a movement with a binary difference image the moving area is detected exactly by the labeling and the projective method. When the image move slowly with the tracking mode of the system, the center of the tracking window move to the previous tracking window. And the tracking windows are divided into a tracking mode and a coasting mode which are determine by the Contrast-Difference Correlation of the date obtained from a difference image. The coasting mode determine whether continue the tracking step or not comparing the coasting-time values to reducing the error by the disturbance. The coasting and tracking of these moving images are verified by the result of the simulation.

  • Actually, a present traffic accident detection system is subsisting limitation of accurate distinction under the crowded condition at intersection because the system depend upon mainly the image information at intersection and digital image processing techniques nearly all. To complement this insufficiency, this article aims to estimate the level of present technology and a realistic possibility by analyzing the acoustic characteristic of crash sound that we have to investigate fur improvement of traffic accident detection rate at intersection. The skid sound of traffic accident was showed the special pattern at 1[KHz])$\sim$3[KHz] bandwidth when vehicles are almost never operated in and around intersection. Also, the frequency bandwidth of vehicle crash sound was showed sound pressure difference over 30[dB] higher than when there is no occurrence of traffic accident below 500[Hz].

  • Self-driving vehicles are a type of smart vehicle with the help of ICT technology, which means a vehicle that operates without the intervention of a driver.Vehicles with vehicle safety communication technology (V2X) applied use information detected from various sensors or other vehicles/infrastructures to enable the smart vehicle to accurately and quickly predict the driver's potential danger situation, contributing to more stable autonomous driving. In this paper, among V2X communication technologies, a vehicle-to-vehicle communication (V2V) simulation communication technology is used to present a scenario for preventing collisions in autonomous vehicles. A vehicle collision prevention system based on V2V simulated communication was implemented and the suggested collision prevention application scenario was demonstrated. The suggested collision prevention utilization scenario can be considered as one application case of V2V communication technologies that are currently being developed/applied.

  • According to an annual industrial accident report from Ministry of Employment of Labor, among the various types of accidents, the number of accidents from construction industry increases every year with the percentage of 27.56% as of 2014. In fact, this number has risen almost 3% over the last four years. Currently, among the industrial accidents, heavy machinery causes most of the tragedy such as collision or narrowness. As reported by the government, most of the time, both heavy machinery drivers and workers were unaware of each other's positions. Nowadays, however when society requires highly complex structures in minimal time, it is inevitable to allow heavy construction equipments running simultaneously in a construction field. In this paper, we have developed Approach Detection System for excavator in order to reduce the increasing number. The imaged based Approach Detection System contains camera, approach detection sensor and Around View Monitor (AVM). This system is also applicable in a small scale construction fields along with other machineries besides excavators since this system does not require additional communication infra such as server.

  • The number of motor vehicle registrations in Korea is increasing steadily each year, driven by industry development and economic growth. The number of traffic accidents is also rapidly increasing. Korea has a relatively high number of traffic accidents among OECD member countries, and it ranks among the highest in traffic accident death rates. This death rate is higher compared to death rates as a proportion of the number of traffic accidents in each country. It is very common for drivers to lose consciousness in traffic collisions, which leads to a failure to carry out early emergency measures. In order to prevent such situations as well as hit-and-runs and people left uncared for after traffic accidents, there is a need for motor vehicle black boxes and accident report systems. This study addressed the need for an emergency evacuation system for people injured in traffic accidents and a secondary traffic accident prevention system by developing a motor vehicle emergency situation detection and report system combined with a black box, and materializing it as an actual system.

  • In this paper, a QT_ecfi algorithm is proposed for identifying all the tags within the identification range. The proposed QT_ecfi algorithm revises the QT algorithm, which has a memoryless property. In the QT_ecfi algorithm, the tag will send the remaining bits of their identification codes when the query string matches the first bits of their identification codes. When the reader receives all the responses of the tags, it knows which bit is collided. If the collision occurs in the last bit, the reader can identify two tags simultaneously without further query. While the tags are sending their identification codes, if the reader detects a collision bit, it will send a signal to the tags to stop sending. According to the simulation results, the QT_ecfi algorithm outperforms the QT algorithm in terms of the number of queries and the number of response bits.

  • With the growing demand for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), various collision avoidance methods have been proposed, mainly using LiDAR and stereo cameras. However, it is difficult to apply these sensors to small UAVs due to heavy weight or lack of space. The recently proposed methods use a combination of object recognition models and distance sensors, but they lack information on the obstacle size. This disadvantage makes distance determination and obstacle coordination complicated in an early-stage collision avoidance. We propose a method for estimating obstacle sizes using a monocular camera-YOLO and infrared sensor. Our experimental results confirmed that the accuracy was 86.39% within the distance of 40 cm. In addition, the proposed method was applied to a small UAV to confirm whether it was possible to avoid obstacle collisions.
