Numerical modeling of impulse wave (수면 충격파의 수치모의)

  • 저수지나 하천 사면에서 발생하는 산사태와 토석류는 저수지와 하천 수체에 충격을 가한다. 이로 인해 발생하는 수면 충격파는 전파되어 반대편 제방으로 파의 처오름 또는 댐 제체위로의 물넘이로 큰 피해를 줄 수 있다. 최근 외국에서는 2차원 충격파 생성 및 전파의 기본 과정을 구명하기 위한 실험적 연구가 이뤄지고 있으며, 이들 연구들은 충격파의 발생과 전파, 사면활동 물질과 수체의 상호작용 그리고 자유 수면과 유속분표의 발달에 대한 자세한 관측 자료를 제시하고 있다. 아울러 충격파에 영향을 주는 지배 매개변수를 제시하고 있다. 하지만, 이러한 실험적 연구의 최근 진보에도 불구하고, 이들 지배 매개변수를 고려한 충격파 지배공식들은 대상 지역의 복잡한 바닥 지형이나, 평면적 지형 변화를 단순한 추정치로만 고려하게 된다. 따라서 복잡한 지형조건에서 토석류와 수체의 상호작용과 수면 충격파의 전파를 합리적으로 해석하는 데는 한계가 있다. 이 경우 수치모델링 기법을 대안으로 적용할 수 있으나, 수치모델링은 수면에서 충격파의 전파와 수중에서 토석류의 전파를 동시에 모의해야 하고, 뉴턴 유체와 비뉴턴 유체의 특성을 동시에 고려해야하므로 수치해석 연구자들에게는 하나의 큰 도전사항이다. 이 연구는 경계면 포착기법을 이용한 계산유체동력학 기법을 이용하여 사면활동과 이로 인한 정지 수역에서의 충격파의 발생 및 전파를 재현하기 위한 수치 모델링 기법을 개발하는 것이 목적이다. 사면활동과 수면의 경계면을 포착하고 위치를 정립하기 위해서 VOF (volume of fluid) 경계면 재구축 기법을 이용한다. 지배 방정식은 비압축성(incompressible) 질량 보존방정식과 나비어-스톡스(Navier-Stokes) 방정식이며, 서로 다른 유체의 상(phase)애 대한 체적분할이송방정식을 이용한다. 큰와 모의 계열의 난류 모델링 기법을 적용하여 충격파의 전파와 붕괴에 대한 난류의 영향을 고려하였다. 토석류는 비뉴턴 흐름저항 관계식을 적용하여 그 흐름특성을 재현하였다. 이들 지배방정식은 2차 정확도의 유한체적법(finite volume method)을 이용하여 해석한다. 외국의 연구자들이 관측하여 제시한 길이 11 m 그리고 폭 0.5 m의 수로에서 발생한 충격파를 수치적으로 재현하여 개발된 모형의 실제 문제에 대한 적용성을 보여준다.

TRANSIT OF THE INTERPLANETARY SHOCKS ASSOCIATED WITH TYPE II RADIO BURSTS WITHIN 1AU (Type II 전파폭발이 관측된 행성간 충격파의 1AU 내에서의 전파 과정)

  • Among the interplanetary shock (IP shock)s observed by ACE spacecraft at 1AU during 1997 to 2000, we have selected 31 IP shocks which had triggered the interplanetary type II radio bursts detected by the WIND spacecraft while those shocks were leaving the Sun. We compared the observed IP shock propagation speeds and the IP shock transit speeds estimated by time difference between the interplanetary type II radio burst detection and the IP shock observation. Then, we found that the mean acceleration of the IP shocks between the Sun and the Earth is about $-1.02m/sec^2$, which means the deceleration contrary to the positive acceleration predicted by Parker solar wind model. It is also verified that the acceleration of the IP shock does not show any linear correlation with the shock propagation speed and the Mach number of the IP shock.

  • Multi-channel DAQ system was developed to predict propagation characteristic of the shock wave generated by linear explosive. The system can generate shock wave from 1000 points per second using a pulsed laser and simultaneously obtain the shock wave signals using 15 chanel contact sensor. The system is expected to pridict the propagation characteristics of various linear explosive-induced pyroshock because it can be used with a user-defined time delay that corresponds to detonation speed of the linear explosive.

  • 수중폭발성음원인 SUS(signal underwater sound)는 수중에서의 폭발과 동시에 충격파와 기포파들이 연속적으로 발생한다. 이러한 신호는 광범위한 주파수대역을 가지고 전파거리가 길어지면서 굴절과 반사등의 다중경로 전파효과에 의한 신호의 변형까지 생긴다. (1,2,3). 본 연구에서는 deconvolution 방법을 이용하여 수신신호중에서 기포파효과를 최소화시켜 충격파의 수신기 도달시간을 파악하고, 각 충격파들의 전파경로를 추정하여 이 중 직접경로와 해저면 반사경로의 신호를 이용하여 해저면 반사계수를 계산하였다.

Development of Impulse Propagation Model between Lanes through Temporal-Spatial Analysis (시공간적 분석을 통한 차로간 충격량 전파모형 개발)

  • In general, flow propagation has been explained using the shock wave theory which is expressed as a function of variations in volume and density. However, the theory has certain limitation in portraying heterogeneous flow, e.g., flow propagation between lanes. Motivated by this fact, this study seeks a new measure for analyzing the propagation characteristics of traffic flow at three sections of highway (i.e., merging area, weaving section, and basic section) from temporal and spatial perspectives, and then develops a model for estimating the measure for the flow propagation. The "shock wave speed" which is the measure widely adopted in literature, was first applied to describe the propagation characteristics, but it was hard to find distinct characteristics in the propagation. This finding inspires to develop a new measure named "Impulse Volume". It is shown that the measure better explains the propagation characteristics at the three study sections of highway. In addition, several models are also developed by performing multi-regression analyses to explain the flow propagation between lanes. The models proposed in this paper can be distinguished in three sections and the lane placement.

An Experimental Study on the Propagation Characteristics of the Impulse Noise from the Exit of a Perforated Pipe (다공관 출구로부터 방사된 충격성 소음의 전파특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This experimental study describes the propagation characteristics of the impulse noise emitted from the exit of a perforated pipe attached to the open end of a simple shock tube facility. The pressure amplitudes and directivities of the impulse wave propagating outside from the exit of pipe with several different configurations are measured and analyzed for the range of the incident weak shock wave Mach number between 1.02 and 1.2. In the experiments. the impulse waves are visualized by a Schlieren optical system for the purpose of understanding their propagation characteristics. The results obtained show that for the near sound field the impulse noise strongly propagates toward the pipe axis, but for the far sound field the impulse noise uniformly propagates toward the omnidirections, indicating that the directivity pattern is almost same regardless of the pipe type. For this non-directivity in the far sound field, it is shown that the perforated pipe has little performance to suppress the impulse noise.

An Experimental Study on Micro Shock Tube Flow (Micro Shock Tube 유동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Past few years have seen the growing importance of micro shock tubes in various engineering applications like micro combution, micro propulsion, particle delivery systems. But in order to efficiently apply Micro Shock Tube to such areas require the detailed knowledge of shock characteristics and flow field inside a micro shock tube. Due to many factors such as boundary layer, low Reynolds number and high Knudsen number shock propagation inside micro shock tubes will be quite different from that of the well established macro shock tubes. In the present study, experimental studies were carried out on micro shock tubes of two diameters to investigate flow characteristics and shock propagation. Pressure values were measured at different locations inside the driven section. From the experimental values other parameters like shock velocity, shock strength were found and shock wave diagram was constructed.

  • The impact stress and wave propagation of graphite/epoxy and glass/epoxy laminates subjected to the transverse low-velocity impact of steel balls are investigated theoretically. A plate finite element model based on Whitney and Pagano's theory for the analysis of heterogeneous and anisotropic plates taking into account of the transverse shear deformation is used for the theoretical investigation. This model is in conjuction with static contact laws. The basic element is a four-node quadrilateral with the five degrees-of-freedom per node. The reduced integration technique is used for shear locking associated with low-order function in application to thin plates. These two materials are composed of [0.deg./45.deg./0.deg./-45.deg./0.deg.]$_{2S}$ and [90.deg./45.deg./90.deg./-45.deg./90.deg.]$_{2S}$ stacking sequences and have clamped-clamped boundary conditions. Finally, the present results are compared with an existing solution and wave propagation theory and then impact stress and wave propagation phenomena are investigated.gated.
