Structural Analysis of Satellite Propulsion System Module Bracket (인공위성 추진시스템 모듈 브라켓의 구조해석)

  • Propulsion system of the current developing satellite is roughly composed of propellant tank and four major modules. Each module prevides the pulse momentum for spacecraft attitude control, filling/draining of propellant and pressurant, propellant filtering, and the change of flow passage in the spacecraft emergency situation, respectively. These modules will be fixed on the propulsion platform with their suitable mounting brackers, so the brackets shall be designed sufficiently to support a function of the modules under launch environment and on-orbit condition. The purpose of this article is to check if all the bracket designs satisfy the defined structural requirements through finite element analysis, and then to verify structural safety.

  • The supply system module of the liquid rocket engine has been developed, which consists of the various supply system components such as pipes, orifices, elbows, bellows, valves and flanges. This module can size the components and calculate pressure drops between them. For the assembly of the supply system components, the supply system module can evaluate the number of the components, total pressure drop, outlet pressure and total system weight.

  • A Through-Bulkhead Initiation Module(TBIM) works as the shock-wave generated by the detonation of donor explosive transmits to acceptor explosive. In order to estimate the minimum thickness of the bulkhead of TBIM, the structural stress of TBIM housing is calculated via modeling analysis, and which shows a sufficient margin in strength as the minimum thickness is bigger than 0.1 mm. The free surface velocity at the metal to explosive interface is measured using VISAR to determine the optimal thickness of bulkhead. The shock pressure is calculated from the measured free surface velocity, and the probability of TBIM with respect to the thickness of bulkhead is estimated by comparing the sensitivity of acceptor explosive with it.

  • The energy balance program which can balance the relations among energy, mass flow, pressure in the staged-combustion cycle of the liquid rocket engine has been developed. The modular approach has been chosen for the analysis; the engine cycle consists of the elements from the predefined component analysis program. The engine with the staged-combustion cycle has been decomposed into several principal component modules, such as a thruster chamber, turbopumps, turbines, supply system components and a pre-burner. The program has been verified with comparison of the results to the selected data of the space shuttle main engine.

  • A liquid rocket system consists of a combustion chamber, a gas generator, a turbo pump, and a turbine, etc. Each component is connected by supply components such as valves, pipes, and orifices. Since each component has a combined effect on engine performance, preliminary analysis for overall system must be required before the conceptual design stage. Comprehensive analysis program considered the supply system has not been developed yet. In this paper, a supply component model of the liquid rocket engine has been designed after verification of each component. The gas generator cycle with supply components has been composed. The results of the cycle has been compared to those of the F-1 engine with the representative gas generator cycle.

  • There have been worldwide research and development efforts to automate various processes of bio-production and those efforts will be expanded with priority given to tasks which require high intensive labor or produce high value-added product and tasks under hostile environment. In the field of bio-production capabilities of the versatility and robustness of automated system have been major bottlenecks along with economical efficiency. This paper introduces a new concept of automation based on tole-operation, which can provide solutions to overcome inherent difficulties in automating bio-production processes. Operator(farmer), computer, and automatic machinery share their roles utilizing their maximum merits to accomplish given tasks successfully. Among processes of greenhouse watermelon cultivation tasks such as pruning, watering, pesticide application, and harvest with loading were chosen based on the required labor intensiveness and functional similarities to realize the proposed concept. The developed system was composed of 5 major hardware modules such as wireless remote monitoring and task control module, wireless remote image acquisition and data transmission module, gantry system equipped with 4 d.o.f. Cartesian type robotic manipulator, exchangeable modular type end-effectors, and guided watermelon loading and storage module. The system was operated through the graphic user interface using touch screen monitor and wireless data communication among operator, computer, and machine. The proposed system showed practical and feasible way of automation in the field of volatile bio-production process.

  • As propagation of mobile smart devices is widespread, it is an observable trend that the cases of utilizing them are increasing in the school programs, and it is also anticipated that they will be very important part of the educational equipment in near future. For this reason the department of education and science technology has announced a medium and long term project on the education with smart device, which is undergoing the preparation stage, and the various academic and industrial institutes have actively produced the related research results and the application prototypes. In this paper we propose a framework on design and implementation of a visual context recognition system for educational purpose usable in the school program by utilizing a module for recognition of the texts embedded in the image captured by video camera from mobile smart device. The system proposed in this paper is consisted of the four modules, such as, image acquisition, image processing, information extraction, and knowledge representation, which are explained in details with the practical examples.

  • Auto Pilot is the system which move automatically the vessel through locating operation mode to automatic after entering operating course using a electronic chart or plotter. And water jet is the a propulsion system that make a power to push the vessel through spouting the accelerated water which is absorbed by the hole in the bottom of vessel. The water jet receive the effect of the depth of water lowly, it's acceleration efficiency is higher under high speed and have an advantage on vibrating and floating sound, so it's demand is increasing as new propulsion system. However, the signal systems of auto pilot and water jet are different, we need the system to interface between each system. We designed the interface that efficiently digital feed back control embedded module between auto pilot and water jet system in this paper.

철강산업을 위한 인터넷-EDI/EC 시스템 기반 구조

  • 철강산업은 대부분의 타 업종의 산업에 기초소재를 제공하는 기간산업으로서 그의 정보화로 인한 파급효과는 국가전체의 경쟁력에 영향을 미칠 정도로 실로 막대하다 할 수 있다. 철강산업의 정보화를 선도하고 있는 포스데이타는 1998년 6월부터 1년여의 기간에 걸쳐 철강업종의 CALS/EC 추진을 위한 1차단계로서 인터넷-EDI/EC 시스템 개발을 완료하였다. 우리는 본 시스템을 철강분야 기본거래업무의 철저한 분석을 바탕으로 구현하여 현업요원들이 즉각 인터넷을 통해 EDI 업무를 수행할 수 있도록 하였으며, 인증/보안, 전자지불 등의 기능을 추가하여 인터넷 환경에서 안전하고 편리하게 거래업무를 수행할 수 있도록 하는데 중점을 두었다. 현재 개발 완료한 시스템은 철강분야 국제표준문서 2종을 적용하였고 향후 나머지 철강업무용 표준문서와 거래정보 제공시스템 등의 사용자 편의를 위한 모듈들을 덧붙인다면 철강관련 산업체들을 하나로 묶는 통합철강전자거래 시스템으로써 훌륭히 그 역할을 담당할 수 있으리라 생각된다.
