The remote-sensing based estimation of the evapotranspiration change due to the 2019 April Gangwon-do wildfire (2019년 강원도 산불로 인한 증발산 변화 원격탐사기반 추산)

  • A wildfire could significantly alter the local hydrological regime, depending on the area and severity, and thus it is critical to understand its effect and feedback using data and simulation. For the wildfire in Gangwon-do on April 4-5, 2019, South Korea, we retrieved the Normalized-Burned Ratio (NBR) index using remote-sensing data (500-m 8-day MODIS surface reflectance data), and detect the damaged-area based on the difference in the NBR (dNBR) before and after the fire. The damaged area was $29.50km^2$ in total, taking up 1.00-6.19% of five catchments. We then used remote-sensing data (500-m 8-day MODIS evapotranspiration data) and estimated that annual evapotranspiration (AET) would decrease as 0.05-1.56% over the five catchments, as compared to the pre-fire AET (2004-2018). This study highlights the importance of improving our understanding about the impact of wildfire on the local hydrological cycle.

A Study on the Methods to Improve High-Wave Reproducibility during Typhoon (태풍 내습 시의 고파 재현성 개선방안 연구)

  • This study estimates the design wave in the event of a typhoon attack at Busan new port using the wind field, the revised shallow water design wave estimation method proposed by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2020, and proposed a reliable method of calculating the shallow water design through verification with the wave observation data. As a result of estimating typhoon wave using the wind field and SWAN numerical model, which are commonly used in the field work, for typhoon that affected Busan new port, it was found that reproducibility was not good except typhoons KONG-REY(1825) and MAYSAK(2009). In particular, in the case of typhoon MAEMI(0314), which had the greatest impact on Busan new port, the maximum significant wave height was estimated to be about 35.0% smaller than that of the observed wave data. Therefore, a plan to improve the reproducibility of typhoon wave was reviewed by applying the method of correcting the wind field and the method of using the Boussinesq equation numerical model, respectively. As a result of the review, it was found that the reproducibility of the wind field was not good as before when the wind field correction. However as a method of linking wind field data, SWAN model results, and Boussinesq numerical model, typhoon wave was estimated during typhoon MAEMI(0314), and the maximum significant wave was similar to the wave observations, so it was reviewed to have good reproducibility.

Development and application of the estimation method of flood damage in the ungauged basin using satellite data (위성자료를 활용한 미계측유역의 홍수피해액 추산기법 개발 및 적용)

  • Economic analysis is a basic step in establishing disaster mitigation measures, but it is difficult to verify the results due to uncertainty. Therefore, the scope of investigation and analysis is wide. However, it is difficult to predict the amount of damage caused by flooding because the collection of relevant data is limited in the ungauged basin. In this study, distributed runoff analysis and flooding analysis were performed, and a method of estimating the amount of flood damage in the ungauged basin was proposed using collectible social and economic indicators and flood analysis results. For distributed runoff analysis and flooding analysis, GRM (Grid based Rainfall-runoff Model) and G2D (Grid based 2-Dimensional land surface flood model) developed by Korea Institute of Civil engineering and Building Technology were used. The method of substituting collectible social and economic indicators into the simple method and improvement method was used to estimate the amount of flood damage. As a result of the study, it was possible to estimate the amount of flood damage using satellite data and social and economic indicators in the ungauged basin.

Analysis on the Change of Wave Behaviour Due to Installation of Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations (해상풍력터빈 기초 구조물 설치로 인한 파랑거동 변화 검토)

  • As developing the large-scale offshore wind farm is expected, the preliminary environmental impact assessment is very essential. In this study, the wave hindcast model is verified based on observed data at the coast around Wido which is among the candidate sites for developing the offshore wind farm. In addition, the effect of the wind turbine foundations on wave height is analyzed when total 35 wind turbines including monopile foundations of 5 m in diameter are installed. Calculation result of significant wave height is in good accord with observed data since the RMS error is 0.35 m. Moreover, it is found that the presence of the wind turbine foundations hardly affects wave height as wave damping ratio is less than 1%.

  • A stable procedure is presented to attain most probable and unbiased estimate of principal strain, rotation, and dilatation for 2-dimensional geodetic data on triangular network. The proper network size should be chosen carefully, because the errors of these estimates of strain tensor and other associated observables grow inversely proportional to the area of station triangle. As a case study, the deformation observables for the GPS-monitored co-seismic displacement in Korea due to the 2011 Tohoku-Oki earthquake were attained accordingly.

  • 본 연구는 식품의 이온화 조사 처리기술로 얻을 수 있는 경제적 이득을 정량적으로 보여줄 수 있는 자료를 마련하기 위한 것이다. 이온화 조사가 허용되었거나 앞으로 허용 가능한 농산물의 수확 후 관리 손실 비용을 분석하고, 가공식품의 저장성 향상에 의한 경제적 이득에 대하여 조사하였으며, 식품의 이온화 조사로 예방 할 수 있는 식중독 사고의 정도와 그 사회 경제적 비용절감을 추산하였다. 신선식품의 연간 수확 후 손실 비용은 감자, 마늘, 양파, 고추에 대해 총 1조 1,251억 원으로 추산되었다. 현재 이온화 조사가 허가된 품목(다류, 장류, 조미식품, 드레싱)의 유통기한 초과로 인한 폐기 손실액은 899억 원으로 조사되었다. 현재 이온화 조사가 허용되지는 않았으나 향후 조사품목을 확대하였을 때 포함될 수 있는 품목(식육과 알 가공품, 어육가공품, 건포류, 축산가공품)의 유통기한 초과에 의한 폐기손실액은 총 1,931억 원으로 조사되었다. 식품의 이온화 조사로 예방 가능한 식중독의 보건 사회적 비용을 추산한 결과 이온화 조사로 사멸효과가 큰 E. coli O157, Campylobacter jejuni, Salmonella spp.에 의한 식중독 감소 효과로 연간 880억 원의 보건 사회적 비용 감소효과를 가져올 것으로 보여지며, 전체 세균성 식중독으로 확대하여 분석 한 결과 1,790억 원의 비용 감소효과를 가져올 것으로 추산되었다. 이온화 조사 처리기술은 식중독 예방에 의한 보건의료비의 절감 기능과 아울러 식품산업의 유통손실 절감과 식량 유실을 막는 효과적인 방법이므로 식량안보적 차원에서 적극 활용되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

Analysis of Wave Power Resources in the Southern Sea of Korea estimated by Using Hindcasted Wave Data (파랑 역추산 자료로부터 추정된 우리나라 남부해역의 파력 부존량 연구)

  • In this study, the wave power resources at the southern sea of Korea were estimated by using the hindcasted wave data of previous researches. The used data were wave heights, periods and directions which were hindcasted around the Korea peninsular from 1979 to 2003. The spatial resolution of the hindcasted data is $1/6^{\circ}$(about 18 km). In winter, the northwest monsoon increase the wave power, while the wave power around Korea peninsular is very small in spring. The maximum value of the annual mean wave power is about 13 kW/m at Gageo-do, Heuksan-do and western region of Jeju-do, while those at the southern sea of Korea is only 4 kW/m, which is relatively small. The wave power at Korean east sea is lower than that of Korean southern sea. We obtained the wave resources information, in a fine grid, at Gageo-do, Heuksan-do, and western sea of Jeju-do, by solving SWAN model with the boundary conditions of hindcasted wave data.

  • 디지털콘텐츠 산업이 각광을 받고 있다. 하지만 아직까지 정확한 데이터가 부족한 상황이다. 이는 콘텐츠 업체들이 대부분 영세하며 업체수가 많아서 시장 동향 및 매출액 시장 규모 등을 추산하기가 매우 어렵다는 것이다. 시장 진입장벽 또한 없어서 신규로 시장에 진입하는 업체들이 매우 많다. 이들 업체들은 시장에 대한 정확한 분석 자료가 없어서 체계적인 준비를 못하고 있다는 지적이 잇따르고 있다. 이에 디지털콘텐츠 산업 동향에 대해서 분석해보고자 한다. 본고는 한국소프트웨어진흥원의 조사자료를 기본으로 하여 작성되었음을 밝힌다. 따라서 저작권은 진흥원에 있다.

  • The WAM wave model has been widely used for wave hindcasting in the ocean by many domestic and foreign researchers due to its relative simplicity and high accuracy. As this model was originally developed for the condition cf deepwater and comparatively coarse grid size covering wide area, it might produce in a fault result mused by the improper distribution of directional spreading. We extensively investigated involved problems based on WAM Cycle 4 model and suggested the improved WAM model so that it is applicable to both shallow water sea and fine mesh wave simulation. The modified WAM model is verified here by comparing the computed result with and the observed data at Ieodo Ocean Research Station for September of 2003.
