Post-local buckling behavior is a very important consideration in plastic and seismic design of steel structures. It describes the structural behavior up to the final collapse state. In order to assess the actual reliability of structures under severe repeated loading, such as strong earthquakes, it is necessary to evaluate the progressive cyclic deterioration of stiffness as well as the strength and energy dissipation capacity of the structures after local buckling happens. In this study, a simple analytical model developed for predicting post-local buckling behavior for cyclic and non-proportional loading histories, has been proposed. This analytical model uses the stress resultant model based on the two surface model. Analytical moment-curvature relationship using this model compare well with the experimental results in constant amplitude cycling, and linearized energy deterioration which is very important in seismic design can be predicted from the proposed model.

The present study provides structural design and analysis of main wing and horizontal tail of a small scale WIG(Wing in Ground Effect) vehicle which has been developed as a part of the high speed maritime transportation system for the future of Korea. Weight saving as well as structural stability could be achieved by skin-spar with foam sandwich design and with wide application of carbon/epoxy composite material. A commercial FEM code, NASTRAN, was utilized to confirm the structural safety and stability through sequential design modifications to meet the final design goal. In addition, each wing and the fuselage were fastened together by eight insert bolts with high strength to accomodate easy assembling and disassembling as well as to guarantee a service life longer than 20 years.
Recently, the fire rescue truck in problem proceed research it for the fast works action and for pass the small road. So we were research for weight reduction. In this study, the (NO. 5) fifth boom of the fire rescue truck have 288 mm(W) × 299 mm(D) × 3,691 mm(L) with a maximum load of 876 kg and the thickness of 3 mm of the Steel Boom. This changing of Steel (STRENX960) to CFRP was weave Carbon Fiber NCF (±45°, 2axis) and then it make the NCF Prepreg. This process was designed based on structural analysis, the effects of NCF Prepreg (±45°) on torsion were identified, and the optimal design was made with Stacking Pattern (b). Stack patterns were optimized for levels equal or higher than existing Steel Boom and CFRP Boom stacked in the UD direction, and finally, the lightening effect on weight of approximately 49.6% of the steel was identified.
The crystal structure of piperidinothiosemicarbazide, $C_6H_{13}N_3S$, has been determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. The space group is P21/c with four molecules in the unit cell of dimensions $a=14.68{\pm}0.04,\;b=4.59{\pm}0.02,\;c=12.92{\pm}0.04{\AA}\;and\;{\beta}=109.4{\pm}0.2^{\circ}$. Three-dimensional photographic intensities were estimated visually. The structure has been solved by an interpretation of a Patterson synthesis and refined by block-diagonal least-squares methods to give a final R value of 0.14 for 378 observed independent reflections. There are two independent hydrogen bonds in the structure. One of them is of the type N-H${\ldots}$S with the length 3.28 and $3.39{\AA}$, and another is of the type N-H${\ldots}$N with the length $3.03{\AA}$. Apart from the hydrogen bonding system the molecules are held together in the crystal by van der Waals forces.
In this paper, conceptual structural design of the main wing for a small scale WIG(Wing in Ground Effect) among high speed ship projects, which will be a high speed maritime transportation system for the next generation in Rep. of Korea, was performed. The Carbon/Epoxy material was selected for the major structure, and the skin-spar with a foam sandwich structural type was adopted for improvement of lightness and structural stability. As a design procedure for the present study, firstly the design load was estimated through the critical flight load case study, and then flanges of the front and rear spars from major bending loads and the skin and the spar webs from shear loads were preliminarily sized using the netting rule and the rule of mixture. Stress analysis was performed by a commercial FEA code, NASTRAN. From the stress analysis results for the first designed wing structure, it was confirmed that the upper skin between the front spar and the rear spar was unstable fer the buckling. Therefore in order to solve this problem, a middle spar and the foam sandwich type structure at the skin and the web were added. After design modification, the structural safety and stability for the final design feature was confirmed. In addition to this, the insert bolt type structure with eight high strength bolts to fix the wing structure to the fuselage was adopted for easy assembly and removal as well as in consideration of more than 20 years fatigue life.
Current design methods for reinforced earth structures take no account of the magnitude of the strains induced in the tensile members as these are invariably manufactured from high modulus materials, such as steel, where straits are unlikely to be significant. With fabrics, however, large strains may frequently be induced and it is important to determine these to enable the stability of the structure to be assessed. In the present paper internal design method of analysis relating to the use of fabric reinforcements in reinforced earth structures for both stress and strain considerations is presented. For the internal stability analysis against rupture and pullout of the fabric reinforcements, a strain compatibility analysis procedure that considers the effects of reinforcement stiffness, relative movement between the soil and reinforcements, and compaction-induced stresses as studied by Ehrlich 8l Mitchell is used. I Bowever, the soil-reinforcement interaction is modeled by relating nonlinear elastic soil behavior to nonlinear response of the reinforcement. The soil constitutive model used is a modified vertsion of the hyperbolic soil model and compaction stress model proposed by Duncan et at., and iterative step-loading approach is used to take nonlinear soil behavior into consideration. The effects of seepage pressures are also dealt with in the proposed method of analy For purposes of assessing the strain behavior oi the fabric reinforcements, nonlinear model of hyperbolic form describing the load-extension relation of fabrics is employed. A procedure for specifying the strength characteristics of paraweb polyester fibre multicord, needle punched non-woven geotHxtile and knitted polyester geogrid is also described which may provide a more convenient procedure for incorporating the fablic properties into the prediction of fabric deformations. An attempt to define improvement in bond-linkage at the interconnecting nodes of the fabric reinforced earth stracture due to the confining stress is further made. The proposed method of analysis has been applied to estimate the maximum tensions, deformations and strains of the fabric reinforcements. The results are then compared with those of finite element analysis and experimental tests, and show in general good agreements indicating the effectiveness of the proposed method of analysis. Analytical parametric studies are also carried out to investigate the effects of relative soil-fabric reinforcement stiffness, locked-in stresses, compaction load and seepage pressures on the magnitude and variation of the fabric deformations.
This study examines the negative relationship between accounting conservatism and excess executive compensation and examines whether their relationship increases as managerial incentive compensation intensity increases. For this purpose, a total of 2,755 company-years were selected for the analysis of the companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange from December 2012 to 2016 as the final sample. The results of this study are as follows. First, there is a statistically significant negative relationship between accounting conservatism and manager overpayment. This implies that managers' incentives to distort future cash flow estimates by over booking assets or accounting profits in order to maximize their compensation when manager compensation is linked to firm performance. In this sense, accounting conservatism can reduce opportunistic behavior by restricting managerial accounting choices, which can be interpreted as a reduction in overpayment to managers. Second, we found that the relationship between accounting conservatism and excess executive compensation increases with the incentive compensation for accounting performance. The higher the managerial incentive compensation intensity of accounting performance is, the more likely it is that the manager has the incentive to make earnings adjustments. Therefore, the high level of incentive compensation for accounting performance means that the ex post settling up problem due to over-compensation can become serious. In this case, the higher the managerial incentive compensation intensity for accounting performance, the greater the role and utility of conservatism in manager compensation contracts. This study is based on the fact that it presents empirical evidence on the usefulness of accounting conservatism in managerial compensation contracts theoretically presented by Watts (2003) and the additional basis that conservatism can be used as a useful tool for investment decision.
This paper presents experimental static test results of the precast concrete panels developed for short-span concrete bridge deck form. Different from LB-DECK, concrete rib attached to the bottom surface of concrete panel, and Top-bar is not used at the top surface of concrete panel. Number of concrete ribs and cross-section details of concrete rib are determined from the analytical results of parametric study considering the span length and the thickness of concrete bridge decks. Shear rebars are installed at the top surface of concrete panel for composite action between precast concrete panel and cast-in-place concrete. In order to evaluate the safety and the serviceability of the developed short-span concrete panel subjected to design load, static load test is conducted. Three test panels with span length of 1.6m are fabricated, and during the load test displacements, strains and cracks of test panels are measured and final failure modes are investigated. Serviceability of the test panels is evaluated based on the results of displacements, cracking load, and crack width at the design load level. Safety is also evaluated based on the comparison of the ultimate strength and the factored design load of test panels. Based on the test results, it is confirmed the short-span precast concrete panel satisfies the serviceability and safety regulated in design codes. In addition, the range of span length of concrete bridge decks for the short-span concrete panel is discussed.

The design on a riser in 1MW OTEC system is performed. The minimum diameter of the riser is decided depending on intake quantity of deep-sea water to supply an OTEC cycle. An applicable pipe material is selected from analyzing the properties of commercial pipes. The selected HDPE pipe with the low density and strength is reinforced with a lumped block attached at the end of and wire ropes along the riser. A lumped block, connected to a floating structure by wire ropes, with 25% and 50% weight of a GFRP riser is designed to be attached the end of a riser. The structural safety of the HDPE riser with wire rope supporting axial loads induced by a lumped block is analyzed under the harsh ocean environmental condition near Hawaii ocean with the numerical method. The final dimension of the riser and accessories is determined considering the economic point of view. The designed riser will be applicable to the construction of the 1 MW OTEC pilot plant.
The purpose of this study is to discuss how strength and ductility of each system in low-rise reinforced concrete buildings composed of extremely brittle, shear and flexural failure lateral-load resisting systems have influence on seismic capacities of the overall system, which is based on nonlinear seismic response analyses of single-degree-of-freedom structural systems. In order to simulate the triple lateral-load resisting system, structures are idealized as a parallel combination of two modified origin-oriented hysteretic models and a degrading trilinear hysteretic model that fail primarily in extremely brittle, shear and flexure, respectively. Stiffness properties of three models are varied in terms of story shear coefficients, and structures are subjected to various ground motion components. By analyzing these systems, interaction curves of demand strengths of the triple system for various levels of ductility factors are finally derived for practical purposes. The result indicates that demand strength levels derived can be used as a basic information for seismic evaluation and design criteria of low-rise reinforced concrete buildings having the triple lateral-load resisting system.
