Development of a Model for Dynamic Station Assignmentto Optimize Demand Responsive Transit Operation (수요대응형 모빌리티 최적 운영을 위한 동적정류장 배정 모형 개발)

  • This paper develops a model for dynamic station assignment to optimize the Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) operation. In the process of optimization, we use the bus travel time as a variable for DRT management. In addition, walking time, waiting time, and delay due to detour to take other passengers (detour time) are added as optimization variables and entered for each DRT passenger. Based on a network around Anaheim, California, reserved origins and destinations of passengers are assigned to each demand responsive bus, using K-means clustering. We create a model for selecting the dynamic station and bus route and use Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-III to analyze seven scenarios composed combination of the variables. The result of the study concluded that if the DRT operation is optimized for the DRT management, then the bus travel time and waiting time should be considered in the optimization. Moreover, it was concluded that the bus travel time, walking time, and detour time are required for the passenger.

  • VANET(Vehicular Ad-hoc Network), which is a technology to create a network among vehicles, decides the route to the destination using information of neighbors within the transmission range as transmission nodes. The existing routing protocol which uses geographical information can cause delay and disconnection of the network when the density of nodes is not high enough to communicate because it only considers the distance of the relay nodes or destination nodes from the source nodes. To solve the problem, this dissertation suggests a routing algorithm based on zones for stable communications among vehicles in the environment of VANET. I minimize the packet loss rate by dividing the city environment into zones and taking into account not only the distance of the destination but also the density of vehicles to choose the best communications environment. This results in a better performance than the established research when the performance evaluation is implemented.

  • An algorithm for tracking the trace of structured light is proposed to obtain depth information accurately. The technique is based on the fact that the pixel location of light in an image has a unique association with the object depth. However, sometimes the projected light is dim or invisible due to the absorption and reflection on the surface of the object. A dynamic programming approach is proposed to solve such a problem. In this paper, necessary mathematics for implementing the algorithm is presented and the projected laser light is tracked utilizing a dynamic programming technique. Advantage is that the trace remains integrity while many parts of the laser beam are dim or invisible. Experimental results as well as the 3-D restoration are reported.

Integrated Simulation of Descent Phase using the RCS jet for a Lunar Lander (RCS jet을 고려한 달착륙선의 Descent phase 통합 시뮬레이션)

  • Researches for various lunar landing technologies are in progress for the lunar exploration program planned for early 2020s in Korea. This paper shows the integrated simulation for safe lunar landing guidance/control system in powered descent phase. Generally, the lunar lander uses on/off(bang-bang) controller to control the RCS jet thrusters instead of proportional controller. In this paper, the on/off controller using phase-plane switching function, and thruster selection algorithm to control sixteen thrusters are applied. Also additional guidance commands are calculated by a proposed fuzzy logic guidance algorithm. The simulation results show that lunar lander can follow a reference trajectory which is generated by optimization method, then land on the surface safely.

  • The goal of this research is to enhance the maintenance and monitoring system of ship environment using sensor network. It is important to know the location information of sensor nodes to control the sensors and to obtain the sensor data from sensor network inside the ship. In this paper, we address the grouping and routing mechanism according to the relative distance of sensor nodes, based on LEACH and PEGASIS. We also consider the fault tolerant mechanism using the location information of sensor nodes.

  • Recently, noise reduction in room air conditioners has been one of the important issues as well as cooling efficiency. The rotary compressor is the dominant noise source in an air conditioner. A number of studies have been conducted on reducing compressor noise through improving muffler and resonator design. However the noise from the accumulator, a noise delivering path between compressor and air conditioner, is not fully taken into consideration. The accumulator contains a large inner cavity, and usually generates additional resonance noise during operation. This paper aims to conduct an optimal design for reducing accumulator noise by maximizing the transmission loss within the target frequency range that represents high-order nonlinearity. Design of experiments and radial basis function neural network are used in the context of approximate meta-models, and genetic algorithm is used as an optimization tool.

An Economic Ship Routing System by Optimizing Outputs of Engine-Power based on an Evolutionary Strategy (전화전략기반 엔진출력 최적화를 통한 선박경제운항시스템)

  • An economic ship routing means to sail a ship with a goal of minimizing the fuel consumption by utilizing weather forecast information, and many such systems have been recently developed. Most of them assume that sailing is carried out with a constraint like a fixed output of engine-power or a fixed sailing speed. However, if the output of engine-power is controlled, it is possible to reduce the fuel consumption by sailing a ship under a relatively good weather condition. In this paper, we propose a novel economic ship routing system which can search optimal outputs of the engine-power for each part of a path by employing an evolutionary strategy. In addition, we develope an $A^*$ algorithm to find the shortest path and a method to enhance the degree of curve representation. These make the proposed system applicable to an arbitrary pair of departure and destination points. We compared our proposed system with another existing system not controlling output of the engine-power over 36 scenarios in total, and observed that the former reduced the estimated fuel consumption than the latter by 1.3% on average and the maximum 5.6% with little difference of estimated time of arrival.

Analysis of Applicability of Active Noise Control (ANC) technique for Reducing Inter-Floor Noise in Apartment Buildings (공동주택 층간소음 저감을 위한 능동소음제어(ANC) 기술 적용가능성 분석)

  • In this study, numerical simulations for reducing noise between floors in an apartment building was carried out using Active Noise Control (ANC) technology. In order to examine the feasibility of using ANC to reduce noise between floors, accelerometers and microphones for noise collection were installed in the inter-floor noise test facility to measure noise and vibration caused by the impact ball drop test. By using the measured data, Filtered-x Least Mean Square (Fx-LMS) algorithm-based ANC simulations were carried out. In the simulations, after deriving optimal simulation conditions including the adaptive control convergence coefficient, the noise reduction effect was analyzed through numerical simulations using the number of installed accelerometers and speakers as variables. Finally, it was confirmed that the noise between floors could be reduced using ANC technology under limited conditions.

  • Wireless sensor network consists of sensor nodes which are disseminated closely to each other to collect informations for the various requests of a sensor application applied for sensing phenomenons in real world. Each sensor node delivers sensing informations to an end user by conducting cooperative works such as processing and communicating between sensor nodes. In general, the power supply of a sensor node is depends on a battery so that the power consumption of a sensor node decides the entire life time of a sensor network. To resolve the problem, optimal routing algorithm can be used for prolong the entire life time of a sensor network based on the information on the energy level of each sensor node. In this paper, different from the existing Directed Diffusion and SPTN method, we presents a data dissemination protocol based on lower-power consumption that effectively maximizes the whole life time of a sensor network using the informations on the energy level of a sensor node and shortest-path hops. With the proposed method, a data transfer path is established using the informations on the energy levels and hops, and the collected sensing information from neighboring nodes in the event-occurring area is merged with others and delivered to users through the shortest path.

  • In this paper, in order to build up the User Network Interface based on ATM, a study on traffic control techniques which should be performed by main function groups-B 75,5 NT2, LEX-is discussed. The structure of B-NT2 which is the most important function group In the User Network Interface is defined in quite a simple manner in addition, the functional blocks of LEX are defined in a similar manner as those of B NT2. It is possible to distribute total traffic control functions by using the similarities between B-NT2 and LEX and by allocating virtual path identifiers fixedly according to the characteristics of the traffics. For the traffic control techniques of ATM, relations among Connection Admtsslon Control, Usage Parameter Control and Bandwidth Allocation Control are defined and Multi Rule Base structure to realize optimal control functions according to the characteristics of the source traffics is proposed. And the Real-time Variable Window algorithmsimply designed to be suitable for the Multi Rule Base architecture is also proposed. The performances of the proposed algorithm are analyzed through the computer simulation by generating on-off source traffic in a virtual system that has the form of the proposed hardware. The analyzed results show that the distributed control is possible and that the implementation of the proposed architecture and algorithm is possible.
