The characteristics of the six rock cleavages(R1~H2) in Jurassic Hapcheon granite were analyzed using the distribution of ① microcrack lengths(N=230), ② microcrack spacings(N=150) and ③ Brazilian tensile strengths(N=30). The 18 cumulative graphs for these three factors measured in the directions parallel to the six rock cleavages were mutually contrasted. The main results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, the frequency ratio(%) of Brazilian tensile strength values(kg/㎠) divided into nine class intervals increases in the order of 60~70(3.3) < 140~150(6.7) < 100~110·110~120(10.0) < 90~100(13.3) < 80~90(16.7) < 120~130·130~140(20.0). The distribution curve of strength according to the frequency of each class interval shows a bimodal distribution. Second, the graphs for the length, spacing and tensile strength were arranged in the order of H2 < H1 < G2 < G1 < R2 < R1. Exponent difference(λS-λL, Δλ) between the two graphs for the spacing and length increases in the order of H2(-1.59) < H1(-0.02) < G2(0.25) < G1(0.63) < R2(1.59) < R1(1.96)(2 < 1). From the related chart, the six graphs for the tensile strength move gradually to the left direction with the increase of the above exponent difference. The negative slope(a) of the graphs for the tensile strength, suggesting a degree of uniformity of the texture, increases in the order of H((H1+H2)/2, 0.116) < G((G1+G2)/2, 0.125) < R((R1+R2)/2, 0.191). Third, the order of arrangement between the two graphs for the two directions that make up each rock cleavage(R1·R2(R), G1·G2(G), H1·H2(H)) were compared. The order of arrangement of the two graphs for the length and spacing is reverse order with each other. The two graphs for the spacing and tensile strength is mutually consistent in the order of arrangement. The exponent differences(ΔλL and ΔλS) for the length and spacing increase in the order of rift(R, -0.08) < grain(G, 0.14) < hardway(H, 0.75) and hardway(H, 0.16) < grain(G, 0.23) < rift(R, 0.45), respectively. Fourth, the general chart for the six graphs showing the distribution characteristics of the microcrack lengths, microcrack spacings and Brazilian tensile strengths were made. According to the range of length, the six graphs show orders of G2 < H2 < H1 < R2 < G1 < R1(< 7 mm) and G2 < H1 < H2 < R2 < G1 < R1(≦2.38 mm). The six graphs for the spacing intersect each other by forming a bottleneck near the point corresponding to the cumulative frequency of 12 and the spacing of 0.53 mm. Fifth, the six values of each parameter representing the six rock cleavages were arranged in the order of increasing and decreasing. Among the 8 parameters related to the length, the total length(Lt) and the graph(≦2.38 mm) are mutually congruent in order of arrangement. Among the 7 parameters related to the spacing, the frequency of spacing(N), the mean spacing(Sm) and the graph (≦5 mm) are mutually consistent in order of arrangement. In terms of order of arrangement, the values of the above three parameters for the spacing are consistent with the maximum tensile strengths belonging to group E. As shown in Table 8, the order of arrangement of these parameter values is useful for prior recognition of the six rock cleavages and the three quarrying planes.

In this study, in order to asses the structural performance of trapezoidal PSC girder using a socket joint system and it is possible to calculate the optimized cross-section of the web element tests were carried out for each specimens. we conducted a socket joint performance test, web bending and shear performance tests and all tests were performed at 4 point loading method. The initial crack load of socket joint specimen was significantly lower than the reference specimen but post peak behavior was no significant differences. And the length of the loop joint of the reinforcing bars had no significant effect on the maximum load. As a web shear tests, to obtain a maximum load of the specimen has a prestressing rod reinforced at tension side. As a web flexural tests, to obtain higher diagonal cracking load in specimen of reinforced using prestressing rod than reference specimen.
Abstract The effects of the hole size and the specimen width on the fracture behavior of several fabric composite plates are experimentally investigated in tension. Tests are performed on plain woven glass/ epoxy, plain woven carbon/epoxy and satin woven glass/polyester specimens with a circular hole. It is shown in this paper that the characteristic length according to the point stress criterion depends on the hole size and the specimen width. An excellent agreement is found between the experimental results and the analytical predictions of the modified failure criterion. The notched strength increase with an increase in the damage ratio, which is explained by a stress relaxation due to the formation of damage zone. When the unstable fracture occurred, the critical crack length equivalent for the damage zone is about twice the characteristic length. The critical energy release rate $G_c$ is independent of hole size for the same specimen width. The variation of $G_c$ according to the material system, fiber volume fraction and specimen width relates to the notch sensitivity factor. $G_c$ increases with a decrease in the notch sensitivity factor, which can be explained by a stress relaxation due to the increase of damage zone.
Scaled model tests were performed to evaluate the reinforcement effect of rock bolts in anisotropic rock mass. For this purpose, two tunnel cases were experimented which had different tunnel sizes, rock strengths, anisotropic angles and coefficients of lateral pressure. The fully grouted rock bolts of the D25 deformed bar were modeled as the basting pins with bead and were systematically installed at the roof and the side wall of the model tunnel. As results of the first case experimentations, the unsupported model showed initial crack at the roof of tunnel, but the supported model with rock bolts showed initial crack at the floor of tunnel where rock bolts were not installed. The crack initiating pressure and the maximum pressure of the supported model with rock bolts were 11% and 7% larger than those of the unsupported model, respectively. Moreover, the effect of the existing discontinuities in anisotropic rock mass on the fracture behavior of tunnel was reduced in the supported model, and so the reinforcement effect of rock bolt turned out to be experimentally verified. As results of the second case experimentations considering different support patterns, the crack initiating pressures of models were larger and the reduction ratios of tunnel area according to applied load were smaller as the length and the quantity of rock bolts were larger. Therefore, it was found that the performance of the rock bolts turned out to be improved as they were larger.

This paper focuses on the experimental study for investigating the performance for lap splice of hooked or headed reinforcement in beam with different depths. In the experiment, seven specimens, with its variables as the lap length of headed or hooked bar, the existence of stirrups, etc., was manufactured. Bending test was conducted. Lap strengths by test were compared with the theoretical model based on KCI2012. The result showed that the cracks at failure mode occurred along the axial direction to a headed bar. The initial stiffness and the stiffness after initial crack were similar for all specimens. For HS series specimens without stirrups, a 25% increase in lap length was increased 11.8~18.1% maximum strengths. For HH series specimens without stirrups, a increase in lap length did not affect the maximum strengths because of the pryout failure of headed bar. For HS series specimens, the theoretical lap strengths based on KCI2012 considering the B grade lap and the reduction factor for stirrup were evaluated. They are smaller than the test strengths and can ensure the safety in terms of strength capacity. For HH series specimens, the stirrups in the lap zone are needed to prevent the pryout behaviour of headed bar.

It was verified that the effect of the distance between current input point and output point on direct current potential drop (DCPD) in the material with two-dimensional surface notch. If the distance between potential drop measuring points was fixed at a certain distance, the potential drop was decreased with increasing the distance between current input and output points. DCPD technique was a useful method for surface crack sizing because the potential drop was proportional to the length of notch. In this paper, we suggest a statistical model to describe the data and want to find a significant variables to effect to potential drop. We use R program to analyze the data.

The purpose of this study was to examine the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with CFRP strips. A total of 12 rectangular beams were tested. Test variables in this study were the shapes, bonded length and the number of longitudinal layers of CFRP strips. From the experimental study, flexural capacity of the beams strengthened with CFRP strips significantly increased compared to the reinforced concrete beam without a CFRP strip. Maximum increase of ultimate strength was found about 120% more than the control beam. In this test, most of the strengthened beams failed suddenly due to the debonding of CFRP strips. It is also observed that the debonding of the strip was initiated in the flexural zone of the beam and propagated rapidly to the end of the beam. The ultimate tensile strains of CFRP strips in this test were occurred at the level of 36% of rupture tensile strength of the CFRP strip, and an analytical approach to compute the flexural strength of reinforced beams strengthened with CFRP strips based on the effective stresses was conducted.
Purpose: A study was conducted to ensure the structural safety of a raised girder bridge with improved cross-sectional efficiency compared to the conventional PSC girder. For this purpose, the cross-sectional specifications such as girder length, height, and width were determined, the arrangement of the tendons was designed, and the practical performance of the raised girder under static and dynamic loads was verified. Method: The static performance experiment examined the serviceability limit state by measuring behavioral responses such as deflection and cracking to primary and secondary static loads. In addition, the dynamic load loading experiment measured the acceleration and displacement behavior response over time to calculate the natural frequency and damping ratio to examine the usability limit state. Result: As a result of the static performance test, the deflection value based on the maximum applied load showed stable behavior, and the crack width measured at the maximum applied load level was very small, satisfying the serviceability limit state. In addition, a natural frequency exceeding the natural frequency calculated during the design of the dynamic loading experiment was found, and a damping ratio that satisfies the current regulations was found to be secured.

In this study, the replacement effects of cementitious materials (fly ash, blast furnace slag, and blended mixtures) were assessed for normal strength concrete with very low shrinkage properties under $350{\mu}{\varepsilon}$ strain using a powder type shrinkage reducing agent. In addition, through mock-up tests of actual size walls restrained with four sides, the shrinkage characteristics using the power type shrinkage reducing agent were measured and the crack reducing ability was assessed. The slump and air contents were measured as the properties of fresh concrete, and the length changes of the prismatic specimens, $100{\times}100{\times}400mm$ in size, were measured for the shrinkage characteristics. To reduce the shrinkage of concrete, the maximum replacing ratio of the fly ash is effective to 20 percent; however, the use of blast furnace slag and ternary mixtures did not reduce the shrinkage.

Cementitious matrix based composites are vulnerable to the drying shrinkage crack during the curing process. In this study, the drying shrinkage induced fracture behavior of the fiber reinforced concrete is simulated and the effects of the fiber reinforcement conditions on the fracture characteristics are analysed. The numerical model is composed of conduit elements and rigid-body-spring elements on the identical irregular lattice topology, where the drying shrinkage is presented by the coupling of nonmechanical-mechanical behaviors handled by those respective element types. Semi-discrete fiber elements are applied within the rigid-body-spring network to model the fiber reinforcement. The shrinkage parameters are calibrated through the KS F 2424 free drying shrinkage test simulation and comparison of the time-shrinkage strain curves. Next, the KS F 2595 restrained drying shrinkage test is simulated for various fiber volume fractions and the numerical model is verified by comparison of the crack initiating time with the previous experimental results. In addition, the drying shrinkage cracking phenomenon is analysed with change in the length and the surface shape of the fibers, the measurement of the maximum crack width in the numerical experiment indicates the judgement of the crack controlling effect.
