  • The operation planning of transports used to move blocks is the one of key factors. Furthermore, reducing the running time through the effective plan contributes to pulling forward the whole logistic process of the shipyard and substantially saving the fuel consumption of itself as well. The past researches of the transporter focused on finding only the shortest distances, so called, Manhattan distance. However, these searching approaches cannot help having the significant difference in the real operational time and distance with the minimum cost approach which considers the speed retardation for turns or safety at the intersection. This study suggests the noble transporter's operational model which could take account of the consuming operational time around the crossroads on the shipyard. Concretely, the proposed method guarantees the minimization of transporters' turns and passage number which are huge burdensome to the operation time and the whole planning of transports with the given period. Resultantly, this paper is willing to explain the appropriateness of our approach, compared with the previous ones.

  • In this paper, we consider mobile ad hoc network routing protocols with respect to content sharing applications. We show that by utilizing social relations among participants, our routing protocols can improve its performance and efficiency of caching. Moreover, in certain situation which we can anticipate pattern of user's content consumption, our scheme can help such applications be more efficient in terms of access time and network overhead. Using NS2 simulator, we compare our scheme to DSDV and routing protocol using shortest path algorithm.

Abstract In this paper, we proposed a scheme to support multiple MCSs over a single and large cluster in ATM networks, evaluated its performance by simulation. When an ATM host requests joining into a specific multicast group, the MARS designate a proper MCS among the multiple MCSs for the group member to minimize the average path delay between the sender and the group members. This scheme constructs a multicast tree through 2-phase partial multicast tree construction based upon the shortest path algorithm. We reduced the average path delay in multicast tree using our scheme under various cluster topologies and MCS distribution scenarios.

  • We investigate rate scheduling and power allocation problem for a delay constrained CDMA systems. Specifically, we determine an energy efficient scheduling policy, while each user maintains the short term (n time slots) average throughput. We consider a multirate CDMA system where multirate is achieved by multiple codes. Each code can be interpreted as a virtual user. The aim is to schedule the virtual users into each time slot, such that the sum of transmit energy in n time slots is minimized. We then show that the total energy minimization problem can be solved by a shortest path algorithm. We compare the performance of the optimum scheduling with that of TDMA-type scheduling.

  • The quickest path problem is one of the important things for quality of services in communication networks. It is to find a path to send a given amount of data from the source to the sink with minimum transmission time, where the transmission time is dependent on both the capacities and the traversal times of the arcs in the network. This is found under the networks that the capacity and the lead time of each ring are predetermined. It is general to solve the quickest path problem using shortest path algorithms. The relevant algorithms proposed till now are based on the capacity of rings in distributed environments. When the configuration of networks is changed, there can be two a, pp.oaches to find the quickest paths. The one is to find new quickest paths, and the other is to update the current quickest paths. As one of the algorithms for the latter, the distributed quickest path update algorithm was proposed. This paper aims to propose the distributed algorithm a, pp.icable to find the quickest path, when the configuration of networks is changed, using the quickest path tree update altorithm, and to verify its possibility of a, pp.ication by analyzing the transmission amount of data from one node to another from the theoretical point of view.

  • In the Ordered Core Based Tree(OCBT) protocol, a core location is the most important feature to affect the performance. In this paper, the location placement of multiple level cores is studied. The proposed algorithm isthat each node in the network evaluates a sum of shortest path costs from all the other nodes and the entirenetwork is divided into a hierarchy region to have 3-logical level(Small, Medium, Large). The node to have thelowest cost in each S-Region is decided to be a core node. Then, the core nodes in the each S-Region evaluatea sum of shortest path costs from all the other core nodes in the same M-Region. The core node to have thelowest cost is decided to be the upper level core node. Similarly the highest level core node is decided in theL-Region. The proposed algoritthm is compared with conventional two methods to put the core nodes in thenetwork One is the random method to put the core nodes randomly. The other is the center method to locatethe core node at the nearest node from the center of each S-Region and then to locate the highest level corenode at the nearest core node from the center of the entire network. Extensive simulations are performed in theview of mean tree cost and join latency. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has betterperformance than random method or center method.

  • While most research focuses on the k-nearest neighbors (kNN) queries in the database community, an important type of proximity queries called k-farthest neighbors (kFN) queries has not received much attention. This paper addresses the problem of finding the k-farthest neighbors in road networks. Given a positive integer k, a query object q, and a set of data points P, a kFN query returns k data objects farthest from the query object q. Little attention has been paid to processing kFN queries in road networks. The challenge of processing kFN queries in road networks is reducing the number of network distance computations, which is the most prominent difference between a road network and a Euclidean space. In this study, we propose an efficient algorithm called FANS for k-FArthest Neighbor Search in road networks. We present a shared computation strategy to avoid redundant computation of the distances between a query object and data objects. We also present effective pruning techniques based on the maximum distance from a query object to data segments. Finally, we demonstrate the efficiency and scalability of our proposed solution with extensive experiments using real-world roadmaps.
