대용량의 멀티미디어 자료를 기반으로 하는 내용-기반 멀티미디어 검색 시스템에서 k-최근접 탐색 질의는 사용자의 매우 중요한 검색 질의 중에 하나이다. 하지만, 방대한 양의 멀티미디어 데이터베이스를 기반으로하는 경우에는 적중 에러 없는 정확(exact) k-최근접 데이터 탐색을 위해서 상당히 많은 디스크 접근 횟수가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 X-트리에서의 정확 k-최근접 탐색 질의를 개선하고, 또한 사용자의 빠른 검색 성능을 위해 다소의 적중 에러는 허용한다 하더라도 디스크 접근 횟수를 줄이는 근사(approximate) k-최근접 탐색 알고리즘을 제안한다.

With growing interest in location-based service (LBS), there is increasing necessity for nearest neighbor (NN) search through query while the user is moving. NN search in such a dynamic environment has been performed through the repeated applicaton of the NN method to the search segment, but this increases search cost because of unnecessary redundant calculation. We propose slabbed continuous nearest neighbor (Slabbed_CNN) search, which is a new method that searches CNN in the search segment while moving, Slabbed_CNN reduces calculation costs and provides faster services than existing CNN by reducing the search area and calculation cost of the existing CNN method through reducing the search segment using slabs.

The k-nearest neighbor search query based on similarity is very important for content-based multimedia information retrieval(MIR). The conventional exact k-nearest neighbor search algorithm is not efficient for the MIR application because multimedia data should be represented as high dimensional feature vectors. Thus, an approximate k-nearest neighbor search algorithm is required for the MIR applications because the performance increase may outweigh the drawback of receiving approximate results. For this, we propose a new approximate k-nearest neighbor search algorithm for high dimensional data. In addition, the comparison of the conventional algorithm with our approximate k-nearest neighbor search algorithm is performed in terms of retrieval performance. Results show that our algorithm is more efficient than the conventional ones.

스카이라인 질의는 객체의 속성을 기준으로 사용자의 선호에 적합한 대상을 탐색하는 기법이다. 기존 스카이라인 질의는 일괄처리 방식으로 탐색 결과를 반환하지만 대화형 앱이나 모바일 환경과 같이 잦은 위치이동 발생 시 일괄처리 방식으로 스카이라인 질의 결과를 신속하게 받기 어렵다. 최근접 이웃(Nearest Neighbor) 알고리즘은 사용자와 상호 작용이 필요한 대화형 앱에서 실시간으로 선호 객체를 탐색하여 사용자에게 전달함으로써 객체의 반환 속도를 향상시켰다. 그러나 최근접 이웃 알고리즘은 객체 탐색 과정에서 반복적인 비교 연산을 수행하여 불필요한 탐색 시간이 소요된다. 본 논문은 대화형 앱에서 신속한 스카이라인 결과를 산출하고자 연산 대상 객체의 범위를 축소함으로써 최근접 이웃 스카이라인 질의 알고리즘의 성능을 향상시킨 전처리 기법을 제안한다. 데이터 객체는 최대 40,000 개의 실험에서 제안 기법은 최근접 이웃 알고리즘보다 50% 빠른 성능을 나타내어 본 연구의 가용성이 증명되었다.

Among spatial queries handled in spatial database systems, nearest neighbor queries to find the nearest spatial object from the given locaion occur frequently. The number of searched nodes in an index must be minimized in order to increase the performance of nearest neighbor queries. An Existing approach considered only the processing of an nearest neighbor query in a two-dimensional search space and could not optimize the number of searched nodes accurately. In this paper, we propose the optimal search distance and prove its properties. The proposed optimal search distance is the measurement of a new search distance for accurately selecting the nodes which will be searched in processing nearest neighbor queries. We present an algorithm for processing the nearest neighbor query by applying the optimal search distance to R-trees and prove that the result of query processing is correcter than the existing approach.

Recently, continuous k-nearest neighbor query(CkNN) which is defined as a query to find the nearest points of interest to all the points on a given path is widely used in the LBS(Location Based Service) and ITS(Intelligent Transportation System) applications. It is necessary to acquire results quickly in the above applications and be applicable to spatial network databases. This paper proposes a new method to search nearest POIs(Point Of Interest) for moving query objects on the spatial networks. The method produces a set of split points and their corresponding k-POIs as results. There is no order between the POIs. The analysis show that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.

In the application areas of LBS(Location Based Service) and ITS(Intelligent Transportation System), continuous k-nearest neighbor query(CkNN) which is defined as a query to find the nearest points of interest to all the points on a given path is widely used. It is necessary to acquire results quickly in the above applications and be applicable to spatial network databases. It is also able to cope successfully with frequent updates of POI objects. This paper proposes a new method to search nearest POIs for moving query objects on the spatial networks. The method produces a set of split points and their corresponding k-POIs as results with partial order among k-POIs. The results obtained from experiments with real dataset show that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods. The proposed method achieves very short processing time(15%) compared with the existing method.

최근에 이동객체의 위치정보를 활용한 위치기반서비스(L8S, Location Based Services)에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 전통적으로 정적인 위치정보를 갖는 공간 객체는 GIS(Geographic Information System) 서버에 저장, 관리되었다. 이동객체는 시간에 따라 위치의 변화가 매우 빈번하여 위치 정보가 계속 갱신되기 때문에, 전통적인 GIS 서버로는 관리가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 연속적인 최근접 이웃탐색 기법에서 데이터의 처리 순서에 따라 탐색공간과 계산비용이 증가하는 문제점을 슬랩을 사용하여 해결한다. 최근접 이웃의 수직연장선 사이의 공간인 슬랩 내부영역에 대해서만 탐색하도록 하여 탐색영역을 줄이고, 그 내부에 있는 점들에 대해서만 처리하여 계산비용을 줄인다.

이 논문은 질의와 검색 대상 객체가 모두 이동 객체인 경우, 즉 3 차원 폴리라인(polyline) 형태의 경로를 가지는 객체들 간의 연속(continuous) 최근접 질의 처리에 유용한 기법을 제안한다. 질의경로를 따라 객체를 탐색해가면서 질의에 대한 최근접 정보가 변하는 시점을 찾는 것이 목적인 연속 최근접 질의 처리는 전체 질의 경로에 올바른 최근접 정보 리스트를 제공하지만, 기존의 방법들은 검색 대상 객체가 동적인 경우에 적용되기에는 시간에 따라 움직이는 객체의 위치변화를 처리하지 못하고, 질의 시점과 대상 객체간의 시점을 연관시키기 어렵다는 문제점들을 가지고 있다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 데이터 객체들의 궤적 정보는 STR 트리로 유지하고, 질의 경로 세그먼트와 질의의 시간 인터벌에 포함되는 데이터 객체 세그먼트 모두에 대해 추출시간(sampling time) 선택, 스윕라인(sweep line) 적용, 위치 추정 함수 이용 등의 단계를 처리함으로써, 이 문제를 해결하고 질의 경로 전체에 정확한 최근접 객체 정보 리스트를 제공한다. 제안된 기법은 물류정보시스템, 국방정보시스템, 기상, 교통 등 시공간 이동 객체의 질의를 다루는 시스템에 적용할 수 있다.

This paper proposes an efficient path finding scheme capable of searching the paths to k static objects from a given query point, aiming at both improving the legacy k-nearest neighbor search and making it easily applicable to the road network environment. To the end of improving the speed of finding one-to-many paths, the modified A* obviates the duplicated part of node scans involved in the multiple executions of a one-to-one path finding algorithm. Additionally, the cost to the each object found in this step makes it possible to finalize the k objects according to the network distance from the candidate set as well as to order them by the path cost. Experiment results show that the proposed scheme has the accuracy of around 100% and improves the search speed by $1.3{\sim}3.0$ times of k-nearest neighbor searches, compared with INE, post-Dijkstra, and $na{\ddot{i}}ve$ method.
