Teacher Perception and Practice on Free Semester Science Assessment (자유학기제 과학과 평가에 대한 교사의 인식과 실제)

  • This study investigated 15 science teachers' perception and practice on free semester and science assessment. We analyzed frequencies of teacher choice for closed questions and used constant comparative method for teacher description and individual interview. Most teachers determined a low ranking for changes in assessment methods and mentioned a lack of objectivity on free semester assessment, unsystematic free semester assessment, and more importance on student activity and interest in science instruction. Most teachers understood process-based assessment as a direction of free semester assessment and teachers mentioned positive aspects for students or teacher difficulties dependent on their perception on process-based assessment. Half of the teachers failed to implement student self-assessment and student peer-assessment due to subjectivity and complexity. Some teachers did not provide feedbacks to students due to a lack of time and did not use certain assessment methods due to a lack of knowledge of the assessment. Teachers who did not have an experience of discussions in a teacher learning community mentioned reasons regarding a small number of the same grade teachers and inactive attitude of colleagues. Teachers who did not participate in professional development programs mentioned a lack of teacher understanding of free semester, participation of the teacher in charge, and teacher choice of participation as reasons.

Qualitative Research on Communication Education of Dental Hygienist by Focus Group Interview (포커스 그룹을 이용한 치과위생사 커뮤니케이션 교육에 관한 질적연구)

  • The purpose of this study to review clinicians and educators on required communication education factors of dental hygienists using qualitative research by focus group interview. The participants were dentists, dental hygienists and professors. A questionnaire was developed on communication education to collect data. The collated data derived concepts related to communication education. After transferring the data, were analyzed by open coding and axial coding using computer-aided qualitative data analysis software. Focus group emphasized that higher education on communication should be preceded before they are put into the clinical field. However, the dental hygienist emphasized experiential education in the clinical field, the professor emphasized additional education for continuity of communication education even after graduation. Besides, focus group emphasized role play, and the professor required that the standardization of the dental communication training courses objectives and role play modules and the education environment infrastructure should be established to implement communication education efficiently. The categories of communication education stated in the focus group were time and method for the dental communication training courses, dental communication training courses standardization and educational environment, of evaluation of communication competency, of perception of the dental communication training courses. This study identified the communication education development to conform with the needs of the clinical field strengthen and cultivate communication competency dental hygienists based on factors of communication education emphasized in focus groups.

Emotion Perception and Multisensory Integration in Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Review of Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience Studies (자폐 스펙트럼 장애의 다중감각 통합과 정서인식: 행동연구와 인지 신경 과학 연구에 대한 개관)

  • Behavioral studies of emotion recognition in autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have yielded mixed results. Most of the studies focused on emotion recognition abilities with regard to ASD using stimuli with unisensory modality, making it difficult to determine difficulties in real life emotion perception in ASD. Herein, we review the recent behavioral and cognitive neuroscience studies on emotion recognition functions in ASD, including both unisensory and multisensory emotional information, to elucidate the possible difficulties in emotion recognition in ASD. In our study, we discovered that people with ASD have problems in the process of integrating emotional information during emotion recognition tasks. The following four points are discussed: (1) The restrictions of previous studies, (2) deficits in emotion recognition in ASD especially in recognizing multisensory information, (3) possible compensation mechanisms for emotion recognition in ASD, and (4) the possible roles of attention and language functions in emotion recognition in ASD. The compensatory mechanisms proposed herein for ASD with regard to emotion recognition abilities could contribute to a therapeutic approach for improving emotion recognition functions in ASD.

An Analysis of the Public Awareness on National Policy on Protection of Personal Information: using SERVQUAL (SERVQUAL 기법을 이용한 국가 개인정보보호 정책에 대한 국민 인식의 분석)

  • After the enactment of the Personal Information Protection Act, policies and activities for the personal information protection have been actively promoted. However the people are showing negative attitudes about personal information, as the ongoing personal data leakages. Therefore, authors tried to empirical analysis of the effectiveness of national policy on the protection of personal information, using SERVQUAL model, focused on the people's perception, in order to identify that how the people recognized current policy. Authors find that the public has perceived the effectiveness of the policy positively, but the level of their awareness is low. And we identify that the people are highly aware of the policy's effectiveness for Immediacy, Convenience and Responsibility, while they have the lowest effectiveness for Efficiency. The policy's improvement focused on the public's low expectations/perceptions and effectiveness awareness, is required in order to develop people-oriented national privacy policy that are satisfied by the people.

Korean Nurses' Perceptions of the Seriousness of Child Sexual Abuse: A Comparison of School and Hospital Nurses (한국 간호사의 아동성폭력 상황에 대한 심각성 인식: 양호교사와 병원간호사의 인식 비교)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 아동성폭력의 정의에 대한 한국간호사들의 인식의 특성을 알아보는 것이다. 보다 구체적으로, 양호교사와 병원간호사 간의 인식의 일치정도를 밝히고, 간호사들이 아동성폭력의 심각도를 판단함에 있어, 아동성폭력과 관련된 다양한 변수들의 상대적 중요성을 규명하는데 초점을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 503명의 병원 간호사와 526명의 양호교사를 대상으로 한 vignette디자인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 아동성폭력 상황을 구성하는 일곱 개의 변수 (성폭력 행위 성폭력 빈도, 피해자의 연령, 피해자의 저항, 가해자의 연령, 가해자와 피해자의 교차성별, 가해자와 피해자의 관계)의 조합을 통해 64개의 vignettes를 만들었는데, 이는 1/4 factorial 디자인의 결과이다. 각 설문 대상자에 대해 64개의 vignettes가운데 16개의 vignettes를 무작위로 추출하고, 그 vignettes에 나타난 각 성폭력상황들의 심각 정도를 표시하도록 하였다. 연구결과에서 양호교사와 병원간호사는 아동성폭력의 심각도 인식에 있어 일치를 나타냈다. 각 상황변수들이 미치는 영향에 있어서는 양호교사와 병원간호사 간에 다소 차이를 보였으나, 성폭력 상황을 정의함에 있어서는 근본적인 인식에 일치를 보였다 두 집단 모두에서 성폭력행위 피해자의 저항, 가해자와 피해자의 교차성별, 성폭력 빈도, 가해자의 연령이 아동성폭력 인식에 영향하는 주요 요인으로 나타났다 한편, 가해자와 피해자의 관계는 주요 영향요인이 아닌 것으로 나타났다. 피해자의 연령은 양호교사 집단에서는 어느 정도 영향을 미치는 변수로, 병원간호사 집단에서는 별다른 영향이 없는 변수로 분석되었다. 결론적으로, 양호교사와 병원간호사는 잠재되어 있는 아동성폭력의 심각도에 대해 동일하게 판단한다. 본 연구결과는 법적, 전문가적 의미에서 아동성폭력 신고자로서의 의무를 지닌 한국간호사들의 아동성폭력에 대한 인식일치가, 그 역할 수행에 도움이 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

Post Sender Recognition using SIFT (SIFT를 이용한 우편영상의 송신자 인식)

  • Previous post sender recognition study was focused on recognizing the address of receiver. Relatively, there was lack of study to recognize the information of sender's address. Post sender recognition study is necessary for the service and application using sender information such as returning. This paper did the experiment and suggested how to recognize post sender using SIFT. Although SIFT shows great recognition rate, SIFT had problems with time and mis-recognition. One is increased time to match keypoints in proportion as the number of registered model. The other is mis-recognition of many similar keypoints even though they are all different models due to the nature of post sender. To solve the problem, this paper suggested SIFT adding distance function and did the experiment to compare time and function. In addition, it is suggested how to register and classify models automatically without the manual process of registering models.

Proposal for License Plate Recognition Using Synthetic Data and Vehicle Type Recognition System (가상 데이터를 활용한 번호판 문자 인식 및 차종 인식 시스템 제안)

  • In this paper, a vehicle type recognition system using deep learning and a license plate recognition system are proposed. In the existing system, the number plate area extraction through image processing and the character recognition method using DNN were used. These systems have the problem of declining recognition rates as the environment changes. Therefore, the proposed system used the one-stage object detection method YOLO v3, focusing on real-time detection and decreasing accuracy due to environmental changes, enabling real-time vehicle type and license plate character recognition with one RGB camera. Training data consists of actual data for vehicle type recognition and license plate area detection, and synthetic data for license plate character recognition. The accuracy of each module was 96.39% for detection of car model, 99.94% for detection of license plates, and 79.06% for recognition of license plates. In addition, accuracy was measured using YOLO v3 tiny, a lightweight network of YOLO v3.

Development of Gesture Recognition-Based 3D Serious Games (치매 예방을 위한 제스처 인식 기반 3D 기능성 게임 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose gesture recognition based 3D Serious Games to prevent dementia. These games are designed to enhance the effect of preventing dementia by helping increase brain usage and physical activities of users by the entire body gesture recognition. The existing cameras used for gesture recognition technology are limited in terms of recognition ratio and operation range. For more stable recognition of the body gestures, we recognized users with a 3D depth camera, obtained joint data of users, and analyzed joint motions to recognize gestures of the body. Game contents were designed to practice memory, reasoning, calculation, and spatial recognition focusing on the atrophy of brain cells as a major cause of dementia. Game results of each user were saved and analyzed to measure how their recognition skills improved.

Exploring Scientific Argumentation Practice from Unproductive to Productive: Focus on Epistemological Resources and Contexts (비생산적 논변에서 생산적 논변으로의 실행 변화 탐색 -인식론적 자원과 맥락을 중심으로-)

  • This study aims to identify what kind of epistemological resources were activated in unproductive and productive practice by students participating in scientific argumentation, and to explore which contexts result in changes in argumentative practice. We collected transcriptions of participants' argumentative lessons and interview, participants' work sheets, and researchers' field notes. The analysis revealed that the focus group activated different kinds of epistemological resources depending on their practice; propagated, belief, and accumulation in unproductive practice and constructed, understanding, accumulation, formation and rebuttal in productive practice. We found two contextual cues that led to these changes; unfamiliar form of argumentative task was provided and emotional, epistemic, and conceptual support of the epistemic authority. This work can be provided as additional case studies to analyze changes in practice according to learner context-dependent epistemology, and we expect to contribute to discussions of productive epistemology and stabilization for students' authentic science engagement.

Recognition of Indoor and Outdoor Exercising Activities using Smartphone Sensors and Machine Learning (스마트폰 센서와 기계학습을 이용한 실내외 운동 활동의 인식)

  • Recently, many human activity recognition(HAR) researches using smartphone sensor data have been studied. HAR can be utilized in various fields, such as life pattern analysis, exercise measurement, and dangerous situation detection. However researches have been focused on recognition of basic human behaviors or efficient battery use. In this paper, exercising activities performed indoors and outdoors were defined and recognized. Data collection and pre-processing is performed to recognize the defined activities by SVM, random forest and gradient boosting model. In addition, the recognition result is determined based on voting class approach for accuracy and stable performance. As a result, the proposed activities were recognized with high accuracy and in particular, similar types of indoor and outdoor exercising activities were correctly classified.
