A Study on Scoring Resistance In Lubricated Sliding Contact (윤활 마찰면의 스코링 저항성에 관한 연구)

  • As a basic study to clarify the scoring resistance in lubricated sliding contact, the temperature rise on frictional surface was analyzed by theoretical method and the effects of various factors on the temperature rise were examined. On the basic of the results obtained theoretically, the practical equations to calculate the maximum average temperature of the contact surface were proposed which are applicable to sliding contact. Then, the effects of sliding velocity and oil temperature on the seizure behavior, and the relation between seizure and temperature rise were investigated. The following conclusions are deduced : The maximum average temperature rise and the other bulk temperature. The former is affected by the size of heat supply region and the sliding velocity, the latter is affected by heat transfer coefficient. Without regard to the operating condition such as sliding velocity, oil temperature and operating time at each load-step, the maximum average temperature just before seizure is nearly constant except in the region of lower velocity. Consequently, the maximum average temperature of the contact surface in boundary lubrication is a useful criterion to predict the scoring of sliding contact.

The effect of pre-load and fatigue life for one-level pedicle screw system (단분절 척추경 나사못의 피로수명과 Pre-Load의 영향)

  • The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of pre-load and fatigue life of the distracted one-level pedicle screw system. A spring, which acted as a substitute of the ligament, was installed in the one-level pedicle screw system before testing. The static and fatigue properties are now being tested, which includes 6mm rod to 6mm screw, 6mm rod to 6.5mm screw and 6.35mm rod to 6.5mm screw, under pre-load. Until now as test data were analyzed, 6mm rod to 6.5mm screw was found to have the best performances of stillness and fatigue lift, while 6mm rod to 6mm screw showed the shortest fatigue life. If the stiffness of screw was bigger than that of rod. the fatigue life was prolonged. The fatigue life of the distracted pedicle screw was proved to be shorter than that of the one-level pedicle screw system. So the fatigue life was shortened because of the effect of the spring on the flexibility and stiffness of the rod. In order to obtain the stability of the pedicle screw, more tests are under doing on this topic.

  • Recent trends in the miniaturization and weight reduction of portable electronic parts have driven the use of subminiature screws with a micrometer-scale pitch. As both screw length and pitch decrease in subminiature screws, the resulting clamping force becomes diminishes. In this work, Finite element (FE) analysis is performed to evaluate clamping force of a screw assembly, with a comparison with experimental result. To improve clamping force of subminiature screws, a new screw design is considered by modifying screw thread angle: the thread angle is varied as an asymmetric way unlike the conventional symmetric thread angle. FE analyses are then performed to compare the clamping characteristics of each subminiature screw with different thread angle. The effect of thread angles on the clamping force is then discussed in terms of structural safety for both positive and negative screws.

The Change of Full Width Half Maximum and Residual Stress during Fatigue Process in S45C Steel (피로과정에서 S45C강의 반가폭과 잔류응력의 변화양상)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the change of full width half maximum(FWHM) and residual stress during fatigue process in S45C Steel, by X-ray diffraction. For S45C Steel, the relationship between the change in fatigue damage of the specimen and the FWHM, and residual stress of X-ray diffraction profiles during the fatigue processes has been investigated. The FWHM decreases in the early period of fatigue cycle. The change of FWHM is associated with cyclic work hardening. The change of the FWHM is not significant in $10{\sim}20%$ of ratio of fatigue life. The residual stress is changed with fatigue cycle increasing during the fatigue pro process.

  • The flexural and horizontal shear behavior of overlaid concrete slabs with polymer interface is investigated in the present study. An experimental program was set up and several series of overlaid concrete slabs have been tested to study the effect of different surface preparations and dowel bars between old slab and overlay under service and ultimate loads. 'The cracking and ulti mate load behavior for various cases including acryl emulsion treatment and doweled joints has been studied. The present study indica.tes that the overlaid concrete slabs behave integrally with existing bottom slabs up to ultimate range for rough and doweled joints with polymer interface. The pres ent study provides a firm base for the realistic design of two-layered RC slabs in bridges.

A study on the impact wave forces for design of offshore structures (해양구조물 설계에 있어서 쇄파파력의 영향분석)

  • The importance of the impact force on the vertical offshore circular structure member in the surf zone due to the breaking wave has been recognized recently. In this paper characteristics of breaking wave forces and the corresponding estimation procedures for them are investigated. For the characterization of the wave forces, three parts, drag force, inertia force, impact force are categorized and identified, respectively. Among them the impact force is maimly studied and the concise form of the force is proposed with the application scheme for the design of offshore circular structure member. The resulting form porposed here for impact force is well coincided with former research results by other people. Except the impact force, so called Morison equation can be employed for the common offshore structure design. The drag force and inertia force are represented as convertionally for the profile except the breaking part. In the numerical example, for thpical sea condition and the member size, the proposed procedures for the breaking wave forces calculation are demonstrated. It is found that the impact force is the most deminant one comparing with inertia and drag forces in the surf zone.

  • In this paper, fracture tests were carried out in order to investigate the fracture behavior of SFRC (Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete) structures. Thirty six SFRC beams were used in this test. The relationships between loadings, strains, and mid-span deflections of the beams were observed under the three point loading system. From the test results, the effects of percentage of fiber by volume, the fiber aspect ratio and the initial crack depth ratio on the concrete fracture behavior were studied, and the stress intensity factors, the thoughness index, and the flexural strength of SFRC beams were calculated. According to the regression technique, some empirical formulae for predicting the flexural strength of SFRC beams were also suggested.

Tests on Failure of Steel Angles due to Very Low-Cycle Fatigue of Loading (극저사이클 재하하에서 앵글 강부재의 파괴실험)

  • The objective of this study is to identify the quantitative relationships among the important physical factors associated with failure of steel members under strong seismic excitations through very low-cycle fatigue tests. Very low-cycle fatigue is meant to be structural fatigue causing cracks and rupture in about 5~30 cycle ranges. The angle specimen was subjected to repeated axial Ioad after undergoing inelastic buckling. The test results reveal that the energy absorption capacities vary heavily with the history of loading and the failure mode. The maximum values of residual local strain at the initiation of a visible crack due to the very low-cycle fatigue were of the order of 25~40%, regardless of loading patterns, deflection modes, and width-to-thickness ratios.

  • 초전도 마그네트 구조용 부재로 최근 개발된 오스테나이트계 스테인레스강 JN1 모재, GTA 용접부 및 열처리재에 대한 기계적 성질을 조사하기 위해 실온(293K)에서 극저온(4K)까지의 온도에서 소형펀치(Small Punch)시험을 실시하였다. GTA 용접부의 용융선 근방의 극저온 기계적 성질은 모재와 용접금속에 비해 크게 저하하였다. 4K에서 실험된 용융선 시험편으로 얻어진 하중-변위곡선상에서 부하의 초기 단계에 보통의 서레이션과 다른 pop-in이 관찰되었고, 이때 시험편 표면의 용융선 근처에서 약 0.1-1mm 정도의 크랙이 발생하였다. 열처리재의 기계적 성질은 열처리 시간과 온도의 증가 또는 시험온도의 저하에 따라 크게 저하되었다. 위의 결과에 기초하여 본 연구에서 실시한 소형 시험편을 사용하는 SP 시험법은 극저온에서 JN1 강의 모재와 열처리재뿐 만 아니라 GTA 용접부의 기계적 성질을 평가할 수 있는 유용한 시험법이었다.

A Study on the Fatigue Strength of the Reinforced Concrete Beams Repaired with Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer(GFRP) Bar and Glass Fiber Steel Plate(GSP) (GFRP Bar 및 GSP로 보수된 철근 콘크리트 보의 피로강도 연구)

  • After developing the pre-crack to simulate a damaged reinforced concrete beam, fatigue test was conducted on the beam repaired by GFRP Bar and GSP embedded method. In the result of fatigue test, most residual displacement and crack of the experimental beams occurs in the early loading cycle and an increasing rate of these due to number of cycles were insignificant. Comparing with a non-repaired beam, a static strength of the repaired beam greatly increased, but fatigue strength decreased. In S-N curves, fatigue strength of the beam repaired by GFRP Bar and GSP was 58%, 52% of the static strength respectively.
