An Evaluation of Solid Removal Efficiency in Coagulation System for Treating Combined Sewer Overflows by Return Sludge (CSOs처리를 위한 응집침전시스템에서 슬러지 반송에 의한 고형물 처리효율평가)

  • In this study, the sludge that occurs in the initial operation of coagulation system developed for the treatment of CSOs were returned to the flocculation reactor. The purposes of this study were to analyze the Characteristics of flocs that are generated through the recycling sludge and settling characteristics of sludge, and to evaluate the possibility that high concentrations of particulate matter in the initial inflow of CSOs could be used as an weighted coagulant additive. As a result, the concentration of treated CSOs pollutants at the beginning of the CSOs influent with a large amount of particulate matter over 20 ${\mu}m$ was low, after gradually increasing the concentrations of them. The flocs generated from the sludge return were similar in size compared to flocs generated through injection of micro sands, and settling velocity in case of return sludge injection was decreased from 55.1 cm/min to 21.5 cm/min. SVI value of the sludge accumulated at the bottom of the sedimentation tank was 72, and settled sludge volume decreased rapidly due to the consolidation of sludge to the time it takes to 10 minutes. these mean that sludge used for recycling has good settling characteristic. A condition of returned sludge which is 0.1% return of 0.3% extraction was formed in the balance of settlement and extraction. In this case, This condition was to be adequate to maintain the proper concentration such as 100~200 mg/L of TS and 50~100 mg/L of VS in the flocculation reactor. The usage of the return sludge containing particulate matters of CSOs as an weighted coagulant additive was able to secure a stable treated water quality despite the change of influent water quality dynamically. Furthermore, it can be expected to reduce the alum dosage along with the sludge production.

  • 멀티빔 음향측심기(Multibeam Echo Sounder)는 기존의 단빔 음향측심기(Singlebeam Echo Sounder)와 달리 탐사선 진행방향의 수직(Crosstrack)으로 해저면을 주사(Swath)하여, 한 번의 송수신(Ping)으로 다중의 빔 자료 - 수심, 후방산란된 음압(Backscattered Amplitude), 사이드 스캔 소나(Side Scan Sonar) 자료 - 를 취득하는 장비이다. 멀티빔 음향 측심기를 이용한 해저면 탐사의 경우, 수심이 변함에 따라 주사폭(Swath width)이 변화하고, 각 빔의 수평 해상도(Footprint)는 수심과 더불어 빔폭(Beam width)에 의하여 동적으로 변화한다. 멀티빔 음향 측심기는 해저면을 전역탐사 할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 연속된 음향 탐사를 통하여 이웃한 핑 사이에 발생하는 전방중첩영역(Endlap)과 이웃 측선(Trackline)을 따라 겹쳐지는 측방중첩영역(Sidelap)의 자료들을 이용하여 멀티 뎀 자료들의 전반적인 정확도 및 신뢰도를 평가할 수 있다. 본 논문은 수로 측량(Hydrographic Survey)에서 사용되는 멀티빔 음향 측심기를 운영하여 얻어진 측심 자료를 처리하는 알고리즘 개발에 관한 연구이다. 본 논문에서는 L3사의 Sea Beam 2100 벌티빔 음향 측심기를 대상으로, 멀티빔의 측심 원리와 해저 지형에 대한 일반적 이해를 통하여 획득된 측심 자료의 통계적 특성을 파악하고, 오측심된 수심 자료를 제거하는 방법을 제안하며, 측심 구간의 대표격자 크기를 결정하는 기준을 제시한다. 또한, 항공원격탐사에서 고도 추정시 사용되고 있는, 평균보간법, 가중평균 보간법과, 본 논문에서 제안하는 격자 대표값 선정 알고리즘(Gridding Algorithms)의 결과를 비교하고, 최종적으로 얻어지는 해저 수치지형모델(DEM, Digital Elevation Model)과 후방산란 영상을 제시한다. 빠른 한지형잔디들이 지표면을 피복하도록 하고 여름의 고온기와 장마시기에는 뿌리전단력이 우수한 이러한 초종들로 지표면이 피복되도록 하는 것이 이상적이라 생각된다. 4. 혼파처리간의 토사유출량을 비교한 결과 토사 유출 억제효과는 한지형과 나지형잔디들의 혼합형(MixtureIII)과 자생처리구(MixtureV), Italian ryegrass와 자생식물의 혼합형(MixtureIV)등에서 비교적 낮은 수치를 토사유출량을 기록하였다. 이러한 결과는 자생식물들이 비록 초기생육속도는 외래도입초종에 떨어지지만 토사유출의 억제효과면에서는 이들 외래초종에 필적할 수 있음을 나타낸다고 할 수 있겠다.중량이 약 115kg/$m^2$정도로 나타났다.소 들(환경의 의미, 사람의 목적과 지식)보다 미학적 경험에 주는 영향이 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 모든 사람들에게 비슷한 미학적 경험을 발생시키는 것 이 밝혀졌다. 다시 말하면 모든 사람들은 그들의 문화적인 국적과 사회적 인 직업의 차이, 목적의 차이, 또한 환경의 의미의 차이에 상관없이 아름다 운 경관(High-beauty landscape)을 주거지나 나들이 장소로서 선호했으며, 아름답다고 평가했다. 반면에, 사람들이 갖고 있는 문화의 차이, 직업의 차 이, 목적의 차이, 그리고 환경의 의미의 차이에 따라 경관의 미학적 평가가 달라진 것으로 나타났다.corner$적 의도에 의한 경관구성의 일면을 확인할수 있지만 엄밀히 생각하여 보면 이러한 예의 경우도 최락의 총체적인 외형은 마찬가지로 $\ulcorner$순응$\lrcorner$의 범위를 벗어나지 않는다. 그렇기 때문에도 $\ulcorner$순응$\lrcorner$$\ulcorner$표현$\lrcorner$의 성격과 형태를 외형상으로 더욱이 공간상에서는 뚜렷하게 경계

Development of Quality Control Method for Visibility Data Based on the Characteristics of Visibility Data (시정계 자료 특성을 고려한 시정계 자료 품질검사 기법 개발)

  • In this study, a decision tree type of quality control (QC) method was developed to improve the temporal-spatial representation and accuracy of the visibility data being operated by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The quality of the developed QC method was evaluated through the application to the 3 years (2016.03-2019.02) of 290 stations visibility data. For qualitative and quantitative verification of the developed QC method, visibility and naked-eye data provided by the KMA and QC method of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (NMI) were used. Firstly, if the sum of missing and abnormal data exceeds 10% of the total data, the corresponding point was removed. In the 2nd step, a temporal continuity test was performed under the assumption that the visibility changes continuously in time. In this process, the threshold was dynamically set considering the different temporal variability depending on the visibility. In the 3rd step, the spatial continuity test was performed under the assumption of spatial continuity for visibility. Finally, the 10-minute visibility data was calculated using weighted average method, considering that the accuracy of the visibility meter was inversely proportional to the visibility. As results, about 10% of the data were removed in the first step due to the large temporal-spatial variability of visibility. In addition, because the spatial variability was significant, especially around the fog area, the 3rd step was not applied. Through the quantitative verification results, it suggested that the QC method developed in this study can be used as a QC tool for visibility data.

Elimination of Redundant Input Information and Parameters during Neural Network Training (신경망 학습 과정중 불필요한 입력 정보 및 파라미터들의 제거)

  • Extraction and selection of the informative features play a central role in pattern recognition. This paper describes a modified back-propagation algorithm that performs selection of the informative features and trains a neural network simultaneously. The algorithm is mainly composed of three repetitive steps : training, connection pruning, and input unit elimination. Afer initial training, the connections that have small magnitude are first pruned. Any unit that has a small number of connections to the hidden units is deleted,which is equivalent to excluding the feature corresponding to that unit.If the error increases,the network is retraned,again followed by connection pruning and input unit elimination.As a result,the algorithm selects the most im-portant features in the measurement space without a transformation to another space.Also,the selected features are the most-informative ones for the classification,because feature selection is tightly coupled with the classifi-cation performance.This algorithm helps avoid measurement of redundant or less informative features,which may be expensive.Furthermore,the final network does not include redundant parameters,i.e.,weights and biases,that may cause degradation of classification performance.In applications,the algorithm preserves the most informative features and significantly reduces the dimension of the feature vectors whiout performance degradation.

Characteristics of Non-point Pollutant from Highway Toll Gate Landuse (고속도로 영업소지역에서의 비점오염물질 유출특성)

  • Newly constructed road is a requisite to be able to carry out BMPs (Best Management Practices) under TMDL(Total Maximum Daily Load) program of the Ministry of Environment. BMPs require pollutant source control during road construction and wash off reduction plan as well as maintenance practices subsequent to construction on the purpose of discharging the minimum wash off non-point source pollutants. The objective of this study is to provide supportive discharged data in evaluating the discharged non-point pollutant load from a highway toll gate area. It can be applied to manage non-point source pollutants on roads. The results validate the first flush phenomenon that it is known to be one of the wash off characteristics in paved area. In addition, the load per unit area and load per unit rainfall duration applying EMC are calculated. The mean load per unit rainfall duration is assessed to be $533.7mg/m^2-hr$ for TSS, $396.2mg/m^2-hr$ for COD, $17.0mg/m^2-hr$ for TN, and $4.8mg/m^2-hr$ for TP. These results show the unitload taken from monitoring are higher than the unit load suggested in the TMDL. It is important to adopt real pollutant unit for road to be able to perform BMP successfully.

Characteristics on the Crytocaryon irritans of Rock bream, Oplegnathus fasciatus in the embankment fish farm (축제식양식장에서 사육한 돌돔, Oplegnathus fasciatus의 백점충, Crytocaryon irritans 감염 특성)

  • Crytocaryon irritans infection of rock bream was investigated in embankment fish farm from July to December 2009. Prevalence variation was 20.0~88.0% that was high in september and was low in July. While no mortality was found in July and August, it occurred after mid september. Environmental conditions during the survey period were water temperature $19.3{\sim}24.3^{\circ}C$, dissolved oxygen $5.0{\sim}7.1\;mg\;L^{-1}$ and salinity 31.9~33.7 psu, and the water temperature during mortality season was $24.0^{\circ}C$. External symptom of the rock bream was secretion mucus but swimming showed fine in the early infected period. While, the symptoms in the severe outbreak season were excess of mucus, falling off tail and congestion, bleeding spot the surface and weakened swimming. We observed free living and parasitic stages in the gills and body surface of rock bream. Hepato somatic index (HSI) was $1.9{\pm}1.1{\sim}3.5{\pm}1.7%$, which was low in the September being mortality season but was high in November. The percentages of hematocrit infected with Crytocaryon irritans were 37.3% and 41.0% in July and August, respectively while they gradually decreased to 32.1% and 24.2% in september and October, respectively. Total cholesterol and Triglyceride values rapidly decreased by October. After mortality, AST and ALT were 7 and 5 folds higher compared to non-mortality season.

Estimation of Ecological Carrying Capacity for Oyster Culture by Ecological Indicator in Geoje-Hansan Bay (생태지표를 이용한 거제한산만 굴양식장의 생태학적 수용능력 산정)

  • The importance of aquafarming is increasing all over the world, however the coastal environment in the semi-closed inner bay has been aggravated due to the long term production and the high stocking density. For the sustainable aquafarming, there is a requirement for a eco-friendly fishery management by the estimation of ecological carrying capacity. The model development and application is still in the initial step, because it has to consider the whole ecosystem and all culture activities. As an alternative, there is a requirement for ecological indicator to assess the ecological performance. This study tried the estimation of ecological carrying capacity using ecological indicator. The production and the facility of the oyster farms was 4,935M/T, $49ind./m^3$ in Geoje-Hansan Bay(2008). Filtration pressure indicator was 0.203 which could provide a guidance on the present level of culture development. According to the environmental characteristics and the present oyster farms in Geoje-Hansan Bay, the newly assessed filtration pressure for the acceptable ecological carrying capacity was 0.102. Consequently, ecological carrying capacity in Geoje-Hansan Bay was 2,480M/T, $25ind./m^3$ and this represents the level of culture that can be introduced into Geoje-Hansan Bay without leading to significant changes to ecological process, species, populations or communities. Our study utilized the ecological indicator to estimate ecological carrying capacity of oyster farming for sustainable productivity and this could be the scientific basis for the eco-friendly fishery management.

Monitoring the Change of Physical Properties of Traditional Dancheong Pigments (전통 단청안료 표면의 물리적 특성 변화 모니터링)

  • This study aimed to assess the performance and life of nine natural mineral dancheong pigments: Seokganju, Jinsa, Hwangto, Jahwang, Wunghwang, Seokrok, Noerok, Seokcheong, and Baekto. The design of the accelerated weathering test considered the domestic climate characteristics and the location of Dancheong. Outdoor weathering tests were conducted at the Research Institute in Daejeon and the Sungnyemun Gate in Seoul to confirm the field reproducibility of the accelerated weathering test. Monitoring of the physical changes in pigments through accelerated and outdoor weathering tests are based on ultraviolet exposure dose. Despite small cracks at the beginning of the tests, the monitoring showed that Seokganju and Baekto had no marked physical changes, but the surface cracks of Jinsa and Seorok continue to expand. Hwangto and Noerok were marked with water or were resin stained, and the particles of Jahwang, Wunghwang, and Seokcheong had lost their luster. Despite the absolute difference in color change in each test, the final chromaticity change patterns of pigments were similar in that the color difference between Baekto and Noerok was below five, and Jina was above 28. The physical and surface color pigment changes were more concentrated in outdoor weathering tests than in accelerated tests, and the Seoul site was more intense than the Daejeon site. This is because outdoor weathering tests are exposed to severe variations of temperature and moisture or deposition of dust particles and, in the case of Seoul, the site is more exposed to the external environment than the Daejeon site.
