In this study, the static and the fatigue tests were performed with high tension bolted joints, of which the surfaces were spread with inorganic zinc-primer after shot-blast, and milling surface, and steel-natural surface, difference of friction surface condition were examined by comparing the esults of tests. From the result of synthetical investigation of this study. it is proper that using the torque management method in order to introduce design axial force to blots, and the provision of specifications that initial axial forces must be 110% of design axial forces is proper. Decreasing ratio of axial forces to initial force is proportional to common lorgarithms of time progress, it converge constant value after 20 hours, and decreasing ratio is little related to the roughness of friction surface. Sliding coefficient of milling, spreading inorganic zinc-primer, just producting is great in order and sliding forces are dependent on the applied axial forces, but if the applied axial forces are great, sliding coefficient become small by a loss of roughness. So it is confirmed that relation between the applied axial forces and the sliding forces are not proportional linearly. From the result of estimation on fatigue strength, all specimens satisfy the specifications with B-grade and milling surface is lower than the others about 14% in fatigue strength because in milling surface lose the function of friction-types joints at lower number of cycles. From the result of eximination for the distribution area of compressive force, friction area near to inside bolt is wider in the direction of stress than near to outside. It is guessed that this situation occurs because outside bolts firstly change from the friction connection to the bearing connection.

The initial clamping forces of high strength bolts depending on different faying surface conditions drop within 1,000 hours regardless of loading, any other external force or loosening of the nut. This study is focused on an expectation model for relaxation of high strength bolt, which is confined to creep on coated faying surfaces after initial clamping. The range of this experiment is limited to estimate the relaxation of bolted joints coated by inorganic zinc primer. The candidate bolts were dacro-coated tension control bolts. The parameters of coated thickness for the faying surface were 96, 168,and $226{\mu}m$ respectively. From experiments, it exhibited that the logarithmic function for creep strain was derived due to the parameter of coating thickness. By using the creep strain, subsequently the quantitative model for estimating long term relaxation of high strength bolt can be taken with the elapsed time. The experimental results showed that the relaxation after the initial clamping of high strength bolt rose to a much higher range from 10% to 18% due to creep of the coating as the coating thickness was increased. This study showed that the clamping force reflecting relaxation after the elapse of constant time can be calculated from the initial clamping force of high strength bolt.

In the design of tunnel segment structure, axial and moment forces are considered as significant forces. Since axial force is much greater than moment force, the whole section of segment remains in compression. Therefore crack width can be reduced. But the axial force is not considered in criteria for serviceability check. This fact leads service condition more severe compared to ultimate condition and makes the required steel reinforcement increase to meet the serviceability criteria. In this study, the effect of axial force on serviceability of tunnel segment is evaluated, experimentally and analytically. Mock-up tests on segments with actual size were performed and investigated in terms of initial crack resistance. The evaluation proves that more comprehensive design could be achieved when the axial force is considered in the procedure for the serviceability check in design of tunnel segment.
Concrete Filled steel Tube(CFT) Column has an excellent structural capacities in accordance with an interaction effect between the steel tube and concrete. Recently, CFT structure has been focussed on a structural system for a high-rise buildings. The purpose of this study is to evaluate a strength and deformation capacity of CFT square columns subjected to constant axial and cyclic lateral load. The test parameters are diameters to thickness ratio of steel tube, axial load ratios, concrete strengths, load applying types and whether or not filled concrete. Total sixteen specimens are fabricated to clarify the energy absorbtion capacity of CFT columns. Experimental results are summarized for maximum strength, initial stiffness and deformation capacity.
In this paper, we propose experimental results, which target the major variables that influence the structural performance of a wall, as well as the resulting seismic and hysteretic behavior. Results also provide the basis for the application of performance based design by identifying the nonlinear hysteretic behavior of the wall with boundary element details recently proposed in previous study by Chun et al(2011). From the experimental results, the crack and fracture patterns of a specimen, which adopt the proposed boundary element details, showed similar tendencies regardless of whether axial force or high performance steel bars is applied. Furthermore, results show that the maximum strength of the specimen can be predicted accurately based on the design equation proposed by the standard. In addition, with a higher axial force, there is a tendency that both the initial load and maximum strength increase as deformation capacity reduces, requiring consideration of the reduced deformation capacity due to a high axial force. For walls under such high axial forces, using high performance steel bars is a very effective manner of enhancing deformation capacity. Therefore, reinforcing the plastic hinge region with boundary elements using high performance steel bars is preferable.
This study has two objectives: (1) to evaluate the degradation characteristics of symmetric unbraced steel frames by using analytical approach, and (2) to suggest equation which can approximately estimate the effect of degradation during the schematic design stage. For the analytical approach, the refined plastic hinge method with an arc length algorithm was adopted. The subject of analysis was one story one-bay, multistory one-bay, and multistory three-bay unbraced steel frames. The main parameters of the analytical approach include the stiffness ratio of column to beam and the axial force ratio. The study led to the following conclusions. The normalized stiffness of degradations is affected by both stiffness ratio of column to beam and the axial load ratio; however, the major influence on degradations is the axial force ratio. The equation, which can approximately estimate the effect of degradation, was suggested together with the research results.

To investigate the stabilizing effect of anchors against sliding, a series of the model test was carried out. An apparatus was developed to perform the model test of the slope reinforced by anchors. An instrumentation system has been applied on the anchors to measure the axial force during slope failure. The maximum stabilizing effect is revealed about 0.5% of the area ratio. The initial loss of anchor force is represented about 24% of initial jacking force. This result is equaled to the proposed range(10%~25%) of the field test result(Yun, 1997). The effective jacking force corresponds to 70% of the initial jacking force. Therefore, the initial jacking force should be determined more than 30% of the design jacking force. As the initial jacking force becomes increase, the reinforced slope is transferred to brittle failure behavior due to increasing the density of slope soils.
As the first step to suggest effective ways of using direct analysis method considering current situations of construction fields in Korea, analytical approach is used to verify direct analysis method which adapts initial imperfection limitation of Korean specification of building construction. The main analytical variables are size of frames, axial load ratio, axial load distribution, value of notional loads, location of notional loads, and applied method of notional loads. The results show that the use of initial imperfection limitation of Korean specification, L/700 is suitable, and the recommendable method to use direct analysis method is applied notional loads based on L/700 as minimum lateral load at each story, even if B2 is less than 1.5 and lateral loads exist.

It is well known that the shear strength of an RC column subjected to a lateral force decreases with the increase of the displacement ductility of column. This decreasing rate of shear strength is quite dependent on the initial shear strength. Therefore, the evaluation of the initial shear strength is important to predict the shear strength with reasonable accuracy. The shear behavior is complex because many parameters, such as the sectional shape, aspect ratio, axial force, longitudinal bars and ductility, are mutually interactive. In this study, the initial shear strength has been investigated by experiments varying parameters such as the aspect ratios, void ratios, ratio of longitudinal bars and sectional types. A new empirical equation for the initial shear strength, considering the ratio of the longitudinal bars, has been proposed and its validity has been assessed.
An experimental research to evaluate the slip coefficients of high-strength friction-type bolt connection of weathering steel plate has been performed in this paper. The test specimens with mill scale or shot blast had been exposed in open air during 3 and 6 months and cleaning of rust surface by hand brushing, power tool brushing and no cleaning was considered. The relaxation of bolt clamping force had also been measured during 600 hours. It was found that slip coefficients increased to the value over 0.6 with exposure except mill scale surface by power tool brushing. The relaxation of bolt tension force in exposed specimens also increased and maximum value reached to about 10%.
