Variability of Vertical Distribution of Volume Scattering Observed in the Shallow Water (천해 체적 산란강도의 수직분포 변동성)

  • Measurements of backscattered intensity were made over a shallow water using 300 ㎑and 1200 ㎑ bottom mounted ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) to determine the temporal variability of vertical distribution of high-frequency volume scattering strength (Sv). The variability of Sv in relatively deep water column(85 m and 113 m was due to the daily vertical migration, probably of larger zooplankton. However it was not found with 1200㎑ data at shallow water column. From the empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis using 1200㎑ data, the vertical distribution of the first mode eigenvectors of Sv is characterized by the presence of the maximum values near the bottom of the water.

The Secondary Chamber Pressure Characteristics of Sonic/Supersonic Ejector-Diffuser System (음속/초음속 이젝터 시스템의 2차정체실 압력특성)

  • The present study is an experimental work of the soni $c^ersonic air ejector-diffuser system. The pressure-time dependence in the secondary chamber of this ejector system is measured to investigate the steady operation of the ejector system. Six different primary nozzles of two sonic nozzles, two supersonic nozzles, petal nozzle, and lobed nozzle are employed to drive the ejector system at the conditions of different operating pressure ratios. Static pressures on the ejector-diffuser walls are to analyze the complicated flows occurring inside the system. The volume of the secondary chamber is changed to investigate the effect on the steady operation. the results obtained show that the volume of the secondary chamber does not affect the steady operation of the ejector-diffuser system but the time-dependent pressure in the secondary chamber is a strong function of the volume of the secondary chamber.er.

Analysis on the volume variation of bag-net in set-net by acoustic telemetry (음향 텔레메트리에 의한 정치망 원통의 체적 변화 해석)

  • An experiment to measure the volume variation of bag net in a set-net by acoustic telemetry system was conducted in Jaran Bay, Gosung, Korea on 10 April to 23 April 2003. The long baseline telemetry system consists of three radio-acoustic linked positioning (RAP) buoys, a time controller with a personal computer and seven pingers. Six pingers were attached on the bottom of the bag-net and the other one was fixed on the sea bed. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The average RAP buoy fixing errors of x-axis, y-axis, and z-axis were 0.2m, 0.4m, and 0.1m, respectively. 2. In the neap tide the minimum and maximum volume of the bag-net on 11 April 2003 were 4,173$m^3$(17:00) and 4,757$m^3$(12:00), respectively. The average current direction and speed at those times were 99.9$^{\circ}$, 12.9cm/s and 104.0$^{\circ}$, 2.4cm/s, respectively. 3. In the spring tide on 17 April 2003, the minimum and maximum volume were 2,016$m^3$(18:30) and 4,454$m^3$(15:00), respectively. The average current direction and speed at those times were 315.6$^{\circ}$, 16.1cm/s and 289.0$^{\circ}$, 5.7cm/s, respectively. 4. In conclusion the maximum variation of the volume on 17 April to 20 April 2003 was 3,552$m^3$ and it was larger 1.4 times than time on 11 April to 16 April 2003.

Uncertainty Analysis of the Calculated Radioactivity in Liquid Effluent Released as Batch Mode from a Nuclear Power Plant (발전용원자로에서 뱃치방식으로 배출되는 액체상 방사성물질의 방사능 평가결과에 대한 불확도 해석)

  • A series of factors such as sampling, pretreatment measurement, volume estimation which induces uncertainty of the calculated radioactivity in liquid effluent released from a nuclear power plant were analyzed. It is innately impossible to estimate exact error of the calculated radioactivity, since most of the input parameters are determined by a single measurement and true value of the released radioactivity cannot be known. In this paper, a systematic model to calculate uncertainty of the released liquid radioactivity was developed based upon the guidance report published by the ISO in 1993, and the model was applied to a set of hypothetical batch release conditions. As a result, the Priority of each input parameter was turned out to be (1) wastewater volume, (2) sample volume, and (3) measured radioactivity of the sample. In addition, probability distribution of the released radioactivity was simulated by Monte Carlo method combining the probability distribution of each input parameter It was shown that the radioactivity released to the environment, which has been reported as a single value, has a certain form of probability distribution.

Evaluation of the Small Field of for the Detector Type Medical Linear Accelerator (의료용 선형가속기의 소조사면에 대한 검출기 종류에 따른 평가)

  • Recently linear accelerator of radiation therapy intensity modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic radiation therapy are widely used. Such radiation treatment techniques are generally difficult to exclude the small field by using the inverse treatment plan. It is necessary to dose an accurate measurement of characteristics of the small field. Thus, using different detectors to measure the volume of the effective percentage depth dose, beam profile, and the output factor of the small field was to evaluate the dose characteristics of each detector. Experimental results for the X-ray beam 6 MV energy beam quality($PDD_{20}/PDD_{10}$) is $10{\times}10cm^2$ Diode detector is as high as 2.4% compared to Pinpoint detector. All field size to lesser effective volume of Diode detector shows that it is far better than other detectors by more than 50% of small penumbra, therefore spatial resolution far excellent. In field size $2{\times}2cm^2$ Semiflex detector was measured about 2% less than the other detector. Field size $1{\times}1cm^2$ is that there is no judgment about the validity show the difference between 20%. Field size $1{\times}1cm^2$ from the measured values of the Diode detector and Pinpoint detector showed a 13% difference. Less than field size $3{\times}3cm^2$ the feed to the difference between the output factor of the effective volume of the detector to be used for the effective volume available to the detector.

Distribution, Biovolume and Extracellular Enzyme Activities of Heterotrophic Bacteria in the Sea near Kunsan,Korea (군산 인근 해역에서 종속영양 세균의 분포, 평균체적 및 세포외 효소활성력)

  • Water samples were taken at 6 stations from the mouth of Keum River to Kogunsan Archipelago of West Sea during December, 1991 to August, 1992, to determine the distribution of heterotrophic bacteria, their biovolumes and heterotrophic activities. Heterotrophic marine bacteria ranged from $1.0\;{\times}\;10^3to\;5\;{\times}\;10^5c.f.u.$ /ml. As for morphological distribution measured by epifluorescence microscopy, rod-shaped bacteria were between 45% and 72% of all cells during investigation period. Average biovolume of sampled bacteria ranged from $(7.69\;{\pm}\;0.18)\;{\times}10^{-2}to\;(8.18\;{\pm}\;0.38)\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;{\mu}m^3$ for coccoid bacteria, and from $(6.09\;{\pm}\;0.29)\;{\times}10^{-2}to\;(7.72\;{\pm}\;0.41)\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;{\mu}m^3$ for rod-shaped ones. The activities of extracellular enzymes ranged from 0.01 to 2.6 ${\mu}M$ /l /hr for glucosidase, from 0.01 to 2.6 ${\mu}M$ /l /hr for amylase, from 0.01 to 8.86 ${\mu}M$ /I /hr phosphatase and from 0.01 to 0.94 ${\mu}M$ /l /hr for chitinase. Extracellular enzyme activities were higher in summer season than in other sampling periods, and phosphatase showed the highest activity among measured extracellular enzymes. Bacterial distribution and their extracellular enzyme activities were associated with water temperature and organic nutrients, but bacterial cell volumes showed no direct relationship with extracellular enzyme activities.

  • Social dredging of various river facilities, such as dams and agricultural reservoirs currently being constructed, should be done to ensure stable reservoirs. However, it is difficult to find a system that tells the exact amount of water in real-time in a reservoir or dam. These measurements require an automated system to collect and analyze highly accurate data in real time. In this study, we propose a method to measure the amount of water and soil of reservoir in real time through multi-division volume calculation using a drone, and this method can detect sediment conditions in real time and determine the exact timing and scale of dredging.

Electronic structures of Na adsorbed 6H-SiC(0001) $\sqrt{3}$$\times$$\sqrt{3}$ and 3$\times$3 surfaces

  • 이전에 수행된 연구에서 표면에 수직하게 dangling bond를 가지는 adatom으로 장식된 6H-SiC(0001) {{{{ SQRT { 3} }}}}$\times${{{{ SQRT { 3} }}}} 표면은 단일 전자 모형으로는 설명되어지지 않는 반도체적 성질을 가지는 것으로 보고되어졌다. 최근의 많은 이론적, 실험적 결과는 이 표면이 Mott-Hubbard 모형으로 설명되어질 수 있음이 보고되어졌다. 이 표면에서 Si이 좀 더 풍부한 3$\times$3 표면의 여러 모형들에 대해 이론적, 실험적 연구는 Energy적으로 E-J 모형이 가장 안정하다고 보고하였다. E-J모형은 표면에 수직인 dagling bond를 가지며 6H-SiC(0001) {{{{ SQRT { 3} }}}}$\times${{{{ SQRT { 3} }}}} 표면에 비해 1/3배의 밀도를 지닌다. 또한 최근의 연구에서 3$\times$3 표면 또한 단일 전자모형은 이 표면의 반도체적 성질에 위배되며 Mott-Hubbard 모형으로 설명되어질수 있음이 보고되어졌다. 이러한 표면 위에 알칼리금속인 Na을 흡착시키면서 일함수의 변화와 Valence Band의 변화를 측정하였다. XPS를 이용하여 Na이 흡착되면서 발생되는 Si과 C의 내각준위의 변화를 측정하였다. 6-SiC(0001) {{{{ SQRT { 3} }}}}$\times${{{{ SQRT { 3} }}}} 과 3$\times$3 표면 구조 모델을 Na을 흡착한 6H-SiC(0001) {{{{ SQRT { 3} }}}}$\times${{{{ SQRT { 3} }}}} 과 3$\times$3 표면으로부터 측정한 UPS, XPS data들로부터 지금까지 제기되어 있는 각 재배열 구조 모형들을 비교 검토하였다.
