Statistical Characteristics for Longitudinal Friction Behavior of Rail Fastening System for Concrete Track (콘크리트 궤도용 레일체결장치의 종방향 마찰거동에 대한 통계적 특성)

  • In the case of CWR (Continuous welded rail) located on the railway bridge, the CWR has additional axial force due to interaction of bridge and track. Therefore, the CWR tracks located on the bridge have to secure the safety of running train and CWR track through mitigating influence for interaction of bridge and track. The railway design guide in Korea (KR C-08080) provides a certain value for property of longitudinal friction behavior of rail fastening system that is major parameter of interaction behavior by applying European codes. However, in order to apply to domestic railway, it is necessary to review property characteristics of the rail fastening system in actual use. In this paper, the experiment for longitudinal friction behavior of rail fastener applied to concrete track on the railway bridge in Korea was carried out, and statistical characteristic for property of the rail fastener was analyzed from the result of the experiment.

Finite Element Analysis of Concrete Railway Sleeper Damaged by Freezing Force of Water Penetrated into the Inserts (고속철도 콘크리트 궤도 매립전 내 침투수의 결빙압에 의한 균열손상해석)

  • Finite element analysis was undertaken to investigate the effect of freezing force of water unexpectedly penetrated into inserts used in railway sleeper on pullout capacity of anchor bolts for fixing base-plate onto concrete sleeper. Based on the in-situ investigation and measurement of geometry of railway sleeper and rail-fastener, the railway sleeper was modeled by 3D solid elements. Nonlinear and fracture properties for the finite element model were assumed according to CEB-FIP 1990 model code. And the pullout maximum load of anchor bolt obtained from the model developed was compared with experimental pullout maximum load presented by KRRI for verification of the model. Using this model, the effect of position of anchor bolt, amount of fastening force applied to the anchor bolt, and compressive strength of concrete on pull-out capacity of anchor bolts installed in railway sleeper was investigated. As a result, it is found that concrete railway sleepers could be damaged by the pressure due to freezing of water penetrated into inserts. And the pullout capacity of anchor bolt close to center of railway is slightly greater than that of the others.

A Study on Optimum Design Analysis of Bolt Locations for Metal Joint Parts of Railway Composite Bogie Frames using Sub-modeling Method (서브모델링 기법을 이용한 철도차량 복합재 대차프레임의 금속재 체결부 볼트 위치 최적화 해석 연구)

  • This paper describes the optimum design of bolt locations for metal joint parts of railway bogie frame made of glass fiber/epoxy 4-harness satin woven laminate composite and PVC foam core. The optimum design analysis was done by sub-problem approximation method using Ansys Parameter Design Language(APDL). The sub-modeling method was introduced to conduct the detailed recalculation for the only target parts and reduce calculating time. The structural analysis for composite bogie frame was performed according to JIS E 4207. The results showed that the optimum design analysis using sub-modeling method was able to obtain faster and more precise results than that of the entire model by the control of mesh size for the target parts, and the maximum Von-Mises stress has been reduced in comparison with its original dimensions due to the optimum design of bolt locations.

  • Mechanical behavior in metal bipolar plate of a fuel cell stack was studied using finite element analysis. The fuel stack is essentially composed of a metal bipolar plate (metal BP), a gasket, an end plate, a membrane electrolyte assembly (MEA), and a gas diffusion layer (GDL). It is important to maintain a suitable fastening force of Metal BP, because it influences the power efficiency of the fuel cell stack. After a gasket and a GDL are placed on the metal BP, the reaction force with the displacement is measured. The channel of metal bipolar plate is replaced by a simple geometrical plate. The results of FEM are similar to those of experiment. Therefore mechanical behavior in metal BP of a fuel cell stack can be estimated by using FEM.

  • For many decades, the railway was constructed using tracks with jointed rails of relatively short lengths in accordance with rolling and handling technology. The joints cause many drawbacks in the track and lead to significant maintenance cost. So, railroad engineers became interested in eliminating joints to increase service loads ana speeds by improving rolling, welding, and fastening technology. Continuous welded rail(CWR) track has many advantages over the conventional jointed-rail track. But, in the case of the elimination of rail joints, it may cause the track to be suddenly buckled laterally by thermal loads. In this paper, CWR track model and CWRB program are developed for linear buckling analysis using finite element method. Rail element with a total of 14 degrees of freedom is used. The stiffness of the fastener, tie, and ballast bed are included by a set of spring elements. The investigation on the buckling modes and temperature of CWR track is presented.

  • In this paper, finite element analyses for estimating the behavior of fractured femur just after the operation were carried out by using ABAQUS 6.71. A stainless steel bone plate and composite bone plates with various stacking angles were considered to find out the effect of bone plate properties on bone fracture healing. In order to simulate the actual state, contact conditions between the plate and bone and fractured bones were imposed on the finite element models and the whole analysis was divided by two steps; screw fastening step and load bearing step. The stress and strain distributions at the fracture site for the cases of the stainless steel and composite bone plates were analyzed and compared with. From the analyses it was found that the composite bone plate had potential advantages for effective bone fractures healing relieving stress shielding effect.

  • This study clarified the definition and interpretation of terms relating to SMEs Priority System. First, 'Domestic' is defined that the address of office is in our country. Second, 'Technology utilization capacity' is defined that the de facto capacity to technology commercialization and utilization. for example. development or production or sales activity of the production using national r&d performance. Third, 'priority' in priority consideration is defined that when there are many companies trying sign technology utilization contract, technology providers shoud provide the opportunity of signing contract to SMEs primarily. 'priority consideration' is defined that technology providers shoud try to do enough to sign a contract with SMEs. This study has significance in that raising the application of the current SMEs Priority System.

  • Aircraft wing structure is used as a fuel tank containing the fluid. Fuel tank and joint parts are consists of composite structure. Hydrodynamic Ram(HRAM) effect occurs when the high speed object pass through the aircraft wing or explosion and the high pressure are generated in the fuel tank by HRAM effect. High pressure can cause failure of the fuel tank and the joint parts as well as the aircraft wing structure. To ensure the aircraft survivability design, we shall examine the behavior of the joint parts in HRAM effect. In this study, static tensile tests were conducted on four kind of the composite T-Joints. The failure behavior of the composite T-joint was examined by strain gauges and high speed camera. We examine the validity of the Finite Element Modeling by comparing the results of FEA and static tensile tests. The failure stresses and failure pressure of the composite T-Joint were calculated by FEA.

  • This paper is a study on design improvement of rotorcraft horizontal stabilizer. The rotorcraft horizontal stabilizer stabilizes the behavior of the pitch, yaw, etc. from the aircraft. Because of this role, horizontal stabilizers are a major component (Flight Safety Part) that affects flight safety on rotorcraft. However, when the rotorcraft was operated in domestic, cracks were found in the inner structure of the horizontal stabilizer and design improvement was needed. In this paper, we identified the two causes of the horizontal stabilizer crack defects through fracture analysis and structural analysis. The first is the tightening torque when the bolt is tightened, and the second is the lead-lag behavior of aircraft. In order to improve these two causes, bolt fastening method, flange structure and thickness were changed and composite ring was applied. In order to verify the design improvement, the structural analysis was performed and the structural strength was improved. Also Fatigue analysis of the internal structure (Rib 1) was performed and it was confirmed that the requirements were satisfied.

가스발생기 뒷마개부의 열/구조 해석

  • 액츄에이터에 사용되는 터어보 펌프의 터어빈을 구동시키기 위한 가스발생기용 고체연료 추진기관의 뒷마개부에 대하여 열/구조 해석을 수행하였다. 가스발생기는 장시간 연소모타로써 뒷마개에는 단열이 되어 있지 않은 배출튜브가 나사로 체결되어 고온, 고압의 연소가스에 의해 뒷마개 구조물에 작용하는 열 하중이 상당히 클 것으로 판단되므로, 최적설계를 위하여 뒷마개부의 열 및 구조해석을 수행하여 열하중의 영향을 예측하고 경량화를 위한 설계자료를 얻고자 하였다. 본 논문에서는 해석결과만을 언급하였으며 차후에 수행될 지상시험시에 해석치와 실험치를 비교한 후 좀 더 정확히 모델링을 하여 열/구조 해석 결과를 뒷마개부의 최적설계에 활용하고자 한다. 해석 결과 열하중이 연소관과의 조립부에는 거의 영향을 주지 않았으나, 열과 압력하중이 동시에 작용할 경우에 뒷마개 배출튜브의 조립부 근접한 곳에서 항복응력을 넘는 응력이 발생하여 정확한 구조 해석을 위해서는 탄소성해석을 수행하여야 할 것으로 판단된다.
