This study aims to look at overall adolescents' perceptions of library and reveal the relevance of search engine sources and library sources compared each elements of them and find out any related issues of perceptions of library and information use of them. The data for this study were collected through survey and analyzed descriptive statistics and correlation analysis using the data. The result shows the population users preferred search engine over library as their information search tool, and they used library as primarily a source of information for printed materials such as books and most of them don't use the library often. Also the result shows the population users tend to select information when it is easy to get and fast to access. Correlation analysis such as ${\chi}^2$ and Spearman were implemented and the result of the correlation shows that many factors of this study covered-such as comparison of information sources- have significant differences each other.

This study tried to identify the reading and library use and requirements of children and young adults with disabilities in school age, and to suggest improvements in library policy, centered on the National Library for the Disabled Unlike the library policy centered on the creation of alternative materials and the establishment of an integrated cataloging system for alternative materials, children and young adults with disabilities mainly use paper books, and 80% of them hardly use the library. This study established a system centered on the special school library and proposed to establish a foundation for enjoying reading culture through curation of books by disability type and developmental age. In addition, based on the development of international standardization of multimedia collections, cooperation with the National Library for Children and Young Adults, and the expansion of librarian, collections, and budgets of special school libraries, linkage with students with disabilities in special classes of general schools was suggested.

This study investigated the information behavior and media use of Korean young adults with immigration background, focusing on the influence of their social and cultural context. 11 young adults between 13 and 18 with immigration background participated in the study. The participants provided data via daily logs about information needs, written surveys about media use, and two times of in-depth interviews. The data gathered from these diverse methods were used in analyzing the participants' daily problem situations and attempts to satisfy information needs using media. The information needs of young adults with immigration background in their everyday lives included study, leisure, appearance, self-development, living, and career searching - study and leisure were the most needed information subjects. The young adults who participated in this study were actively using media to solve their information needs. For them, media was an emotional support, a tool to express their own identities, a solution that gives all the answers, and a good companion to spend time with. The proposed strategies about young adults' media use in this study could be used in planning library services for children of families with immigration background.

This study aimed to identify the effects of using storytelling techniques in sex education, in which students are encouraged to talk about their experiences with sex and love and helps them form their own sex values and decision-making skills related to sex. A five-period teaching-learning plan covering issues including safe, considerate and responsible sex was developed using the storytelling technique for 134 first-year students in 4 classes. 134 questionnaires were administrated through pre-and post-test and 38 worksheets applying a variety of storytelling activities were analyzed using content analysis. Students were found to have gained a more positive outlook on relationships and a considerate attitude towards others in sex. There was also a significant increase in items considering safe sex, including perceptions on contraception methods and selection of safe contraception methods. The students' sense of sexual responsibility was also enhanced. Results of content analysis found students to have shifted to sex focusing on love and responsibility, and to have grown a stronger sense of responsibility in their relationships. Furthermore, the respondents expressed interest in selecting proper contraception methods and held strongly negative perceptions about abortion.

This study aims to analyze the trend of library use according to the expansion of public library infrastructure in Korea, and to search for new roles and services of libraries based on the results of the study. Using the statistical analysis, literature review and partially interview method, the number of borrowers and loans from 2009 to 2019 were analyzed. The result of the survey reveals that the number of public libraries increased by 61.3% during the survey period, while the number of borrowers decreased by 57.5%, and the number of book loans increased only by 18.2%. The result of the analysis claims that the causes of the decrease in the number of materials borrowers were an error in the process of inputting statistics and manipulating the number of book loans by the local library. The population of children and young adults decreased during the survey period, which led to a decrease in the number of children and young adult borrowers. The result of the study reveals that the increase in the use of public libraries in Korea, like other advanced countries, is stagnant. The following new roles and services are suggested for the development of public libraries: Libraries expand non-face-to-face services and electronic resources, and promote their use. Libraries expand cultural and lifelong learning programs further.

도서관을 찾는 사람은 늘고 있으나, 읽는 책은 베스트셀러에 한정됐다. <출판저널>이 '독서의 달'을 맞아 전국 도서관 사서들을 대상으로 도서관 이용자의 독서경향에 대해 설문조사한 결과, 교육환경의 개선과 IMF여파로 이용자 수는 증가했으나, 도서구입예산과 독서 프로그램 부족으로 도서관에서 이뤄지는 독서는 문학 등 특정 분야에 편중되고 있다는 사실이 밝혀졌다. 학생들의 대출 건수는 꾸준히 늘어 강화군립도서관만 하더라도 전체 대출의 55%가 학생이다. 다른 도서관도 사정은 같아 학생들이 하교하는 오후 시간대에 가장 이용률이 높다. 최근에는 실직인구가 늘면서 성인 남자의 이용률도 높아졌다. 오미순 사서(해운대도서관)는 "IMF 여파로 취업.창업 관련서의 이용률이 늘고 있으며 그 이용자 대부분은 성인"이라고 밝혔고 성은정 사서(부여도서관) 역시 "IMF사태 이후, 성인 남자들의 이용률이 높다"고 응답했다. 하지만 문제는 도서관이 보유한 책이 베스트셀러에 국한돼 다양한 독서가 이뤄지지 않는다는 점. 조사결과, 이용자들은 <아리랑>, <하늘이여 땅이여>, <남자의 향기>, <토지> 등을 많이 찾는 것으로 집계됐다. 심지어는 로맨스소설이나 무협소설이 청소년들의 읽을거리로 제공되는 실정. 사정은 특수도서관도 마찬가지다. 어린이도서관의 경우, 어린이.성인 모두 문학류를 많이 찾고 점자도서관의 경우, 전체대출 중 80%가 소설류다. 구본일 사서(강화도서관)는 "예산이 부족해 이용자들이 많이 찾는 베스트셀러를 중심으로 구입할 수밖에 없다"고 밝히고 "다양한 책을 갖출 수 있도록 도서구입비 확충이 시급하다"고 주장했다. 또 알맞은 독서 프로그램이 없는 점도 이용자들의 베스트셀러 편중현상에 한몫을 담당했다. 진재호 사서(광주도서관)는 "과거보다 독서생활화가 고조됐지만, 양서를 읽는 독서문화의 부족"을, 김선연 사서(어린이도서관)는 "유아시절부터 성인까지 자연스레 고전을 읽게 하는 제도적 장치의 확충"을 지적했다. 한편 월평균 대출권수는 대도시 지역의 경우 11,000-45,000권, 그 외 지역은 1,600-6,000권, 특수도서관은 어린이도서관이 55,000권, 전화나 우편으로 대출하는 점자도서관이 650권이다. 관내열람만 허용되는 사회과학도서관은 월평균 이용자가 7,676명으로 대학생.대학원생.교수 등이 전체의 68%를 차지한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the educational contents of home economics textbooks that solely focus on forming adolescent empowerment. For this, an in-depth content analysis was conducted on the home economics textbooks in Korea and the U.S. The main results of this study are summarized as follows: First, the 23 content elements, which are designed to build adolescent empowerment, were ascertained: nine intrapersonal empowerment elements such as the self-identity, nine interpersonal empowerment elements such as the communication, and five social empowerment elements such as the leadership. Second, based on the content elements selected from above, the textbooks in Korea were observed to deal with 58% of the 23 content elements, while those in the U.S. discussed 90% of the 23 content elements. Korean textbooks primarily focused on helping students understand major concepts, whereas the U.S. textbooks focused primarily on helping students make connections between major concepts and their life. Lastly, both countries put the least amount of weight on social empowerment content elements(Korea: 37%, U.S.: 70%).

This study performed a meta-analysis on 45 research studies conducted in Korea on the relationship between domestic violence experience and juvenile delinquency. The meta-analysis calculated 125 effect sizes. The study then analyzed the effect of exposure to domestic violence on juvenile delinquency and evaluated the relationship according to research variables. The probabilities of juvenile delinquency by children who witnessed domestic violence, experienced violence directly, or experienced child abuse were 14%, 17.8% and 17.2% higher than that of children otherwise, respectively. However, the difference in experience types or child abuse types on mean effect sizes was not statistically significant. Cross effect between the type of domestic violence and the type of juvenile delinquency did not significantly impact the mean effect size of juvenile delinquency. The effect of domestic violence experience on delinquency was highest for junior high students, followed by elementary students and high school students, Difference in the effect size among groups was statistically significant. The effect size with respect to publication year was shown to have a minor static correlation, but the publication type was not meaningful. The study confirmed the effect of domestic violence on juvenile delinquency and emphasized that the responsibility of social environment in juvenile delinquency increase has been overlooked.

This study discussed the trends and characteristics of mental health services in the public libraries of North America. To accomplish this, this study collected its data through literature surveys, observations and interviews with librarians within the Vancouver public library system. The results show that there were many cases in which patrons asked public libraries for information on their mental health problems and the public libraries helped the patrons cope with their problems. The public libraries' assistance programs for national tragedies and natural disasters were temporary services. On the other hand, public libraries were continuously advising and guiding patrons dealing with emotional and psychological problems through the readers' advisory and information services. Specifically, public libraries were actively assisting various sensitive issues that are generated in the development of children and youths(for example, adoption, divorce and separation, remarriage, family, friendship, disabilities, death, self-esteem, emotions, bulling, violence, abuse, suicide, illness, addiction, sexual health, youth pregnancy and so on). The key role of librarians under these circumstances was to guide and recommend appropriate books and professional institutions that help solve the problems.

현재 초,중,고등학교에서 사용하고 있는 책상과 의자는 학생들의 신장 등급에 따라 13호로 제작되 고 있음에도 불구하고, 신체부적합에 의한 편이도. 안전도에 문제를 안고 있다. 이러한 책상과 의자는 특히 장시간 앉아 있는 성장기 청소년의 신체 발달을 고려하지 않음으로 인해 그 개선책이 시급하다 하겠다. 다라서 본 연구에서는 설문조사를 통하여 초,중,고등하교 학생들의 감성적 선호도를 조사하 고, 1992년 표준과학연구소의 부위별 신체 측정 자료를 토대로, 자유 조절형의 인체공학적 책상과 의자 를 설계하였다. 이 인체공학적 설계는 한 호수의 제품으로 색상 4단계, 의자 3단계(조합 12 단계)조절 을 가능하게 했으며, 기존의 교구에서 발생하던 신체 부위 상해, 잘못된 자세로 인한 피로, 디자인적 고 려 부재의 문제들을 종합적으로 보완하였다. 이 인체공학적 책상과 의자는 표본 집단에서 그 편이도, 안전도, 개인적 선호도를 조사하여, 기존의 교구와 유의한 차이를 보였다. 중 저가로 제작 가능한 본 인 체공학적 책상과 의자는 실제초,중,고등학교에서사용 가능한 제품으로 사료되나, 본격적인 판매에 앞서 완제품에 대한 시장 평가가 요구된다.
